I cried when same-sex marriage was legalised in the UK. I will not only sob when it happens in South Korea, I will be on my knees in thanks. My Step-Grandfather was from S. Korea and he was gay. He married my British Grandmother because she agreed once he had his papers they'd live separately. I used to go and see him and his partner John every week. I loved them both so much and they were why, as a child, I didn't understand why people were so against it. I even asked the pastor of the Church we attended why God made it possible for two men or two women to fall in love if he was the creator of love itself, yet people said it was sinful. Been pro-LGBT+ since 1987. I was 5.

There was a Korean youtuber couple that called around to some venues in Seoul to see if they would get rejected, and the hotels all said yes they could have the ceremony. They were surprised, but a church decided to let them take their photos there. They were doing it as a prank but then it made them think about actually getting married, as they also thought they couldnt have a ceremony.

I do hope South Korea begins to change soon with it's view to LGBT relationships. From what I have seen and heard it's still looked at as so taboo there by the general populace. It would be amazing if one day this lovely couple could actually have the freedom to marry in Korea without being ostracized for loving each other. Peace be with you both. I wish you good health.

@@Jeezthatbitchsexy they are, but things change very quickly when new generations take over. Especially in societies that are ruled by seniority. The U.S. is the same, and 20 years ago lgbtq+ people were afraid to even say they were apart of the lgbtq+ community. Now people are proud to be apart of the community, getting married, and adopting children from governmentally run agencies. In 20 years things here changed dramatically. There is hope, when the older more conservative generation steps down and the younger generation takes control.

Good Lord my friends mother left her father by whom she had 4 children to openly live with her younger female partner in the late 50's 1958 and they remained openly gay until her mother passed away in an accident in 1975. So I think the 20years comment is slightly off don't you. At same time we had a couple of male couples living together in student accommodations in uni no attempts to hide or deny what the relationship between them was. And this happened in at the time a very Calvinist Scotland where everything still closed for the Sabbath and church attendance was the norm.

I am from Germany and gay marriage is legal here but there are still some aspects where they don't have the same privileges as a heteronormative married couple have... though I hope that will change over time. Making or changing law's is always a long process here. What is also great is that if you are a what we call "evangelisch" Christian you can actually become a pastor regardless of gender and it's allowed to bless same sex couples:)

I think this couple have to understand that there are a few components that have to be taken into consideration regarding gay proposals. 1) In other cultures (America, Europe, Canada, Australia, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines etc), people have a more positive perspective about gay relationships as opposed to cultures that are more conservative and/or being gay is a no-no; 2) Same-sex marriage is legal in some parts of the world hence proposals are common nowadays; 3) Some gays feel special when they too get a proposal and possibly it is also a testament that if straight people can do it, then there is no reason why gays can't! Let's just hope that in the future, no one would even care whether a person is gay or trans or lesbian as long they don't break any laws because they too deserve to find happiness in this world.
