@Fiamo Scarlette Europeoid isn't a word as far as I know, the term that got invented to describe all Europeans was Caucasoid in reference to a mountain range on the border of Europe from which a group of people lived who were considered at the time to be ancestral to other Europeans. Ironically these people look more mixed between European and Asian (which is understandable because this is the geographic border). These Caucus people were and still are considered very attractive in Europe, in a similar way to modern mixed European/Asian people.

Most countries in Europe take their shoes off when going inside the house, there is a doormat right inside the door and there u take off your shoes and put them either on a low shoe shelf or on the mat whereas in Korea u have recessed floor until that "line" then the floor gets higher like a threshold.

I think Hoseung got it. What he meant is that korean students have no shame about bad grades, regardless of how strict the parents get. "In the doghouse" is a very American idiom. Asians don't have doghouses, separate little sheds for their pets, they firstly don't have large yards to accommodate such indulgences, if they do have a yard large enough, they put it to "better" use; they secondly prefer to keep their pets in the family space! Asians also more uniformly train their pets properly, so that being indoors (or roaming free outdoors) doesn't cause problems, whereas American pet training varies wildly from near-show quality for housepets to absolute lassiez-faire! Hence the necessity for people like Cesar Milan...

@@xheralt I think the "dog house" meme is for the Asians who live in western countries but yeah usually that backyard goes to "better" use like making a nice little garden or whatever
@moondust2365
@moondust2365 3 жыл бұрын
@@xheralt It depends on the country I think. It also depends on how rich you are. A middle class person in Korea would let their dog in the house but a middle class person in the Philippines would just make their dog stay outside (with or without a leash). No dog house, not inside human house, just outside, wet in the rain and dirty. Some Filipinos might put them inside their house or make a cheap dog house, but usually dogs just roam the street near their owners house and people know which dog is which. Although there's new laws that say we need to leash our dogs since they bite people sometimes.

Mothers do that everywhere. In the Midwest, you can be a hundred pounds overweight and diabetic, it doesn't matter, your mom still can't resist the urge to try to feed you every single thing in the fridge whenever you come in the door.

I think they misunderstood the tattoo meme. A lot of foreigners will get tattoos with Asian words on them not knowing the language and it'll be completely wrong (like the ariana grande example but it's actually quite common). The meme is joking about that but how it would look the other way around. It's making fun of westerners, not asians.

One of those pictures reminded me of when I was 16 and I was eating at my best friend's house, who happens to be Indian, I was eating and eating and her parents were like have more! I literally felt sick I ate so much. When they dropped me off at my house her mom rolled down the car widow and was like Allie, you didn't eat much make sure to eat something at home. I had to lie down I was so full.

Depends on where I am, or how I'm being treated, but I love hearing that I look young. And I look better in person, in pictures not 1 out of 100 looks good. And you have an option in my house wear your shoes don't wear them, it's your choice, just don't put your feet on the furniture if you wear your shoes.

I think the math thing is a little more specific to Chinese people as the top five internationally ranked countries for testing in Mathematics are China itself, Singapore which is a majority Chinese country, Macao (an independently governed Chinese territory), Hong Kong (which has held the same sort of status as Macao for decades but I won't get into recent stuff because I don't know), and Taiwan (which China considers China but they consider themselves Taiwanese) although Japan is 6th and Korea 7th. I think it is notable that Apart from China, Singapore and Macau retaining the top spots in across all subjects (Hongkong is also 4th in reading) Japan jumps to 5th in Science and South Korea stays in 7th but in Reading Korea is 9th while Japan is tied for 14th (placing it behind the US.) The overall ranking has China, Singapore, Macao, Hongkong, Japan and Korea in the same spots as math so it's probably where she's from, but also not as accurate a meme as it could be, even if it wasn't meant for Asian Americans.

Yep these were definitely east Asian oriented memes, the sense that many contain the western stereo types of east Asians. The being over-fed by your parents though, that's common to soooo many cultures, Italians are know for it as well in the west.

For the shoes - In Balkan countries is the same. We don't enter with shoes,we put off them and take slippers (or without slippers, it's personal choice) , but we NEVER enter with our shoes on. And I don't understand people in other countries who enter their homes with shoes. But I respect their choice.
