In America, "some" is called the talking stage. And it can last for months before you officially decide to start a relationship. Also, lots of people have already hooked up during the talking stage. Some people also go on dates during the talking stage too. So it's like a relationship but without the relationship title or commitment.
@youarebusteduser

@Elena Gilbert what does white have to do with it? I genuinely want to know why? Is hooking up a white person concept or just a human mode of expression?
@kvcp
@kvcp 3 жыл бұрын
@@youarebusteduser I think it's more of a cultural thing, than specifically white. I feel that "white" is often used to describe American/Canadian/Western European culture. It is a very much generalization since there can be strict cultural backgrounds among Caucasians as well.

In the "olden days" of my grandma it would be defined as courting. Which doesn't happen in the west much anymore but it was a big deal back then. My nana told me of the young men she courted in the war(s) 🤭🥰 My grandad played aloof but he never minded her dancing with other guys because he hated dances (his mother made him take lessons for his wedding lol) but as a 6ft+ airman he would always be the man to walk my nana and her friends home at the end of an evening ❤ such a true gent. I loved her old stories of those days, nothing like it is now, I wish I was around back then 🥰

I am gathering that the Korean “some” phase can sort of be compared to the American “talking” phase. You are just beginning to see this person, don’t really know where it’s going as it’s all very new, so when someone asks if you’re dating anyone, we typically respond with something along the lines of “No, but I am sort of talking to someone.” It’s like when you kind of gauge whether or not you think something could develop with this person. (Also, I said “talking” for Americans bc I’m unsure if other western countries have different terms for it - please don’t think I’m being exclusionary 🤍)
@DinosourousRexx

In English we call that stage “talking.” So like you might say “I’m talking to this guy...” That means you guys are getting to know each other and might start dating soon if things work out.

In Sweden we call that 'some/talking' stage 'dating' and when we define what we are and decide to be boyfriends and girlfriends that is being in 'a relationship'. During the dating-stage you can meet more than one person at tha same time but when one of them gets more serious you better drop the rest to be abled to move on into the relationship which most of the time are monogamus and exclusive.

🇰🇷 Some = Fancy/flirting/courting 🇬🇧 To like or fancy someone; to flirt with them as a sign of affection and show your interest; to court them before official "dating" or relationship develops, to get to know each other - the prelude to dating if you will. Hope this helps lol xx Edit: I have seen a lot of posts about "talking" and thats what courting was considered back then. Although the term isn't used as often now, that is what the talking stage is describing. That's the correct term. Hth xx

It's really interesting to learn about these differences in culture! In Brazil, we don't have something like "some" phase, we can be together with someone without being in a relationship and it includes kissing and having sex and it can last loooong, like months or years long and it's still only "casually being together" if we don't make it an official relationship. And doesn't need to be exclusive either and it's pretty common. Like more common than really dating someone. I guess that's why just kissing people and hooking up is also more common than dating here.
@danibellaaa

11th of November thing is kind of funny since in Europe it's a anniversary of end of WW1 (ended on 11/11/1918 at 11 pm) and is a big serious remembrance. It's not exactly a lighthearted day, is what I'm saying. But East Asia almost entirely missed WW1 so it's not surprising that they don't have any particular anniversary related to it.

To be honest. I don't mind if my girlfriend or boyfriend watches porn so long as they are aware porn is fake and that's not how sex is always gonna be. I've shared nsfw manga and pictures before to my girlfriend and we critique or praise them together. I'm very open. I also don't mind if they talk about admiration for actors or models. Again its more of the idea that realistically the chances of my partner meeting these people is low. Plus I still make an effort to show affection and appreciation to my partner. We sometimes discuss traits we like in characters too. Communication is very important. I do not condone cheating though but I dont consider them watching porn or admiring an actor/ idol is cheating. My partner acting on sexual impulses towards someone other than me or self pleasure then becomes a problem. If that makes sense? I don't get jealous easily but I make sure to explain my boundaries. I am monogamous but I have limits. Its important to explore those and communicate that with your significant other early on to avoid miscommunication.

Seeing some one. Where it just that, a trial period of testing the waters together to see if dating each other would work. In that time either person can still date others. Sometimes this can be a vulnerable problem though especially if both people involved stop communicating with one another.💔
