it's a really simple stuff, they squeeze normal foundation or bb cream under a normal cushion sponge. Somehow, when the liquid penetrates the sponge when you dab the cushion, the liquid becomes much more smooth and light. They also sell DIY kit here in Seoul which you can change your foundation or bb cream into cushion foundation! :)

I discovered K beauty through Memebox a year ago and I've slowly been replacing all of my skincare with Korean products. My skin has never been better! I use the Elizavecca bubble mask and it is very gentle. I only wear makeup probably once or twice a week and I use it after I have used a eye makeup remover to clean the rest of my face and it does an amazing job! I've tried a lot of other masks as well (sheet and trad) and have some definite favorites - the best places to get K Beauty products in the UK are Tester Korea and Beauty Net Korea.

Another Korean inspired make-up tutorial would be lovely, especially if you could use the peel-off lip stains as they are so out of this world, but it's OK if your lips aren't up for it ^^. It would be nice to see maybe (just a suggestion) the prep using your new skin care products + the make-up in those pretty pastels, in particular the lavender shades which are not very popular here. Love all your videos, but the Korean ones really opened my eyes to a new and different way of thinking "make-up". The "glow" had always scared me a little, having combination (sometimes oily) skin but I have started to appreciate it more since watching your videos to the point that that look is all I go for now. Therefore falling in love with the Korean concept and idea of beauty and make-up application was inevitable! X

As I was watching your video I realized hat there are no make up trends in my country Turkey.I try to find some beauty trends through out the history but I think there is none.Ofcourse since Anatolia and Mesopotamia are origins of many great cultures there have been many different beauty trends but not for modern Turks.So now I'm really intrigued about the make up and beauty trends in different cultures.Koreans keep looking for the same beauty standards as 1000 years ago.What other cultures look for similar natural,glowing look?Which ones do prefer more dramatic results?And why?These are the questions I'm asking to myself. Would you consider making some videos about cultural beauty trends-like you did for vintage makeup?I really would like to watch that.
@eylemkeskin9 жыл бұрын
I don't agree with you. Every country has its own traditional way of beauty/skincare classics and of course if you had looked into Turkey you would've seen "Ottoman woman" with their huge varieties of skincare/beauty routines and the greatest of all Turkish bath rituals. Even Estee mentioned it in her Istanbul tour videos if you've already seen them(essiebutton). But when it comes to make up, those times were a little more conservative about showing off beauty, still had some influence from Arabic make-up and skincare. I'm not trying to give any lecture about anything but every county is going to lose their traditional way of personal care and other maintenance if they're swallowed by the popular culture and globalization which is at some point inevitable. But if you're really into what you want from your country about everything, you just really have to look what Mother Nature gives you from those lands. Because even the food growing in the countries are especially benefits for the locals. And I don't agree to use all Korean products because they are considering the Korean market at first and probably it will benefit the Korean most. So use whatever your ancestors used for decades, that will do.
@simonagherman9 жыл бұрын
same here, Berivan Özkoçak , I would also love to see some videos about cultural beauty trends. Plus, Lisa's so adorable, you can tell she's thrilled about her new discoveries.
@13bbing9 жыл бұрын
It's true that pale, flawless skin has been part of the beauty standard in Korea (and other countries of East Asia) for a large part of our history, but not all beauty standards are the same.. Before, we liked round noses and chubby cheeks, calling them "good luck." Now, (in part influenced by globalization and western culture) we prefer slim faces and high noses. Not all of Korea's beauty trends prevail for thousands of years!
@berivanozkocak24469 жыл бұрын
***** Thanks for the input but I think you interpreted my comment wrong. I did not say there were no beauty trends in these lands. If you read my comment carefully you would realize I said there are no beauty trends in modern Turkey related to its history. We borrow almost all our products and styles from Western cultures and especially from the US. As a Turkish woman living in Istanbul I consider myself a little bit more knowledgeable about Turkish culture than essiebutton (who I liked by the way) who is a Canadian living in the UK :) But I will ofcourse watch her Istanbul videos just because I'm curious. But you should know most of the tourists coming to Istanbul visit the historical part of the city which have all the hamams and spice shops. This is not how we really live, it is just for tourists. My question to Lisa was if she would be interested in making some videos about the makeup and beauty trends in different cultures-how they developed over time. I'm asking for them out of curiosity about the history. And I think we can borrow whatever we want from other cultures as long as it suits us, our skin, our style etc.
@berivanozkocak24469 жыл бұрын
Kim Jiwon thanks for the information. I did not know that slim face and nose was such a new trend. Again it is interesting that Koreans do not like Westerns' contouring madness since it is also a way to make your face look more slim. So every culture takes bits and pieces from other cultures and mix it with their own. Flawless skin suits to Koreans but with my very round face I think I would be like a full moon without a little bit bronzer :)

Lisa, thank you so much for this informative (and fun!) video. Above all, though, I want to thank you for taking time to explain the context behind certain Korean beauty ideals. While it is true that most Korean women want brighter skin, it is based on the traditional notion that bright and even-toned skin equates to femininity ("indoors") and intelligence, which was present well before Koreans even knew caucasians existed on earth. Too often, "western" beauty followers, even well-respected professionals, simply spring to the "easiest" explanation and say "oh lol those Asians want whiter skin, why do they want to be more like white people LOLz". Instead, you came through with genuine thought, research and respect-and really, I would expect nothing less from you. Great video, and thanks again from a Korean woman who is often misjudged as being white-washed and unconfident with myself for choosing to present myself a certain way.

I am so happy to see Korean products! Hera , Laneige, Etude are from same company called ' Amore '. Most of their material is same. They just make and do business for each age target. Etude is usually for teenager & young 20. but young 30 love this brand too. Price is reasonable. Hera and Lineige have nice packages and good quality. They are more expensive than Etude. BB Cushion is so popular in Korea. when you use this, you must be addicted.

like pretty much sephora prices...an eyeliner was about $20 and i also have the face shop, skinfood and nature republic and they're pretty pricey especially their skin care products=/ (not absolutely everything but still...also nature republic seems to be the more affordable among these stores...nail polishes are like $1.40!!) i just went to skinfood the other day actually (not sure if skinfood is considered affordable in korea) and a small jar of moisturizer was $32 =/ i know i can probably get these online buttt i love going into the stores trying out the products (getting the samples when i buy lol) and possibly my favorite part is seeing huge cardboard cut outs of my favorite kpop and kdrama celebrities =) (ultra fangirl over here XD)

We have a few Korean beauty shops here in Montreal, one product they sell are known as "eyelid tapes" they are meant to help with creating the appearance of a defined lid, but I find they are great to place on your eyes and than fill in with a liquid eyeliner, your cat-eye comes out perfect every time.
