I watch this video when I'm upset. It's calming and familiar and it helps me get swat for 15 mins. I've been watching it every few months for six years now. My god. Same. I always put Lisa Eldridge on when I have my periods. Everything/Everyone else irritates me immensely and my cramps worsen, but with Lisa, the cramps actually go down, no painkiller needed! It never matters which video and if I'm actively listening to her, just as long as she is on.

LANEIGE Water Bank mask! I spend a lot of time with pilots and cabin crew, so I get their tips on maintaining skin care despite flying tons and tons. They all swear by Korean products for flights, and for skin recovery after. Korean winters are very drying for the skin, while summers are hot and humid. As such, there are a range of products to suit both situations. The LANEIGE water range is all oil free but incredibly moisturising - even for drier skin types like mine. As for business men judging or such my flying skincare routine (I spend A LOT of time flying, I live in two places currently and do a 9hr flight at least once a month) - I had a gentleman in a suit *humph* and nearly sneer at my little containers and potions. But when we landed, he actually turned to me, haggard as hell, and said: "for all the fuss, you do look lovely, especially considering we've been flying for 14 hours." Another great place to buy WATER PROOF containers is Muji - it's a Japanese retailer that's available around the world. Their container collection is brilliant! I've never ever had any of them leak, explode or let me down. And there's a million sizes of bottles, pots, tubes and boxes. They even sell a set with a spatula and funnel for loading up travel sized products from their bigger bought jars. So you don't have to compromise and bring something that you're not that keen on; just because of the 100mL rule. I could go on... But, I think that's plenty of rambling for now. x

One great trick for the Dermalogica Skin Hydrating mask! Mix a dime size amount into the same amount of your moisturizer to turn it into a leave-on hydrating mask/moisturizer for your face and neck. I do it all the time in the winter! No need to remove anything after it sets.

I have used this routine for years now, ever since i first watched this video and it has been so amazing, I can't imagine not doing this on long flights now. I tend to use face wipes as well as bioderma as I find it so refreshing, especially at the end of the flight. I use the wipe not just on my face but the front and back of my neck as well. I also pack eye drops as well as I find sleeping on planes can give me red eyes. The best face mask I have found is the thirstymud hydrating treatment. I find it works better than any mask I've tried. The laneige sleeping pack and the bioderma sensibo mask are both great options as well

I have tried this routine a few times on my flight to and from Australia and it feels really great. Last time my friend in Frankfurt commented on the way I looked after such a long flight. One thing I think you should stress is, that it is important to wash your hands before you touch your face. Either with water and soap or with a liquid hand sanitizer gel which you can carry with you in your plastic bag. Thank you for this inspiration.

One request, as a possible fellow passenger: this is not the time to use up any samples you ended up with that are fragranced to high heaven (I dunno why anyone wants to use that much fragrance on their skin anyway, but some stuff has it) because everyone is trapped in a very small space and there is no good way to get away from the scent if it is a problem, and some people have allergies and scent-triggered migraines. Trust me, flying with a migraine is no fun. So just think about how fragranced your stuff is before you pack it. (Same with regular perfume, actually. You don't need to be drenched in fragrance for a flight.) When I was flying between the US and the U.K. a lot, one of my must have items was a nice hydrating lip balm. (One that sinks into the skin, not one that just puts a film on top.) Preferably in a stick form rather than a pot, so I didn't have to stick my fingers in it. I'd keep that handy and just reapply as needed.

+Kris Dow Amen to this. I was on a flight once where the woman in front of me decided to use nail polish. It's not a fun smell even in a well-ventilated area, and in the cabin of an airplane it was nauseating/gagging/migraine-inducing.

@nyaweh81568 жыл бұрын
I feel like you shouldn't wear purfume period. I mean spray yourself when the flight is over, why need to wear it on the plane.
@TrappedinSLC8 жыл бұрын
+VirginiaPurple There is a difference between saying "people should not be allowed to..." and requesting politely that people are thoughtful about their fellow passengers. I am doing the latter on the basis that for some people, like me, a fragrance can be not just unpleasant to smell but actually physically painful or problematic. (I've known a couple of people who had asthma type reactions to strong fragrances and so would need to use an inhaler to help breathe if they were trapped in a small area with someone using strongly fragranced products, so it isn't just the possible migraine trigger issue.) Unless the airline has a specific policy (which some might, these days, if they are willing to ban passengers over clothing choices and the like also) no one is preventing people from using whatever they like - but it is polite to be aware that you are sharing a small space with other people and to try to be considerate of that fact. If we all do it flying would be more pleasant for all.

One thing that I just don't understand: why not do this BEFORE your flight?? I mean, if it's before you leave your house, then it's only like an extra hour or two that the stuff has to actively moisturize your face, so no big deal. And if you've got 20 extra minutes before your flight, then you've got the terminal bathroom with a sink and soap and a mirror and ROOM to move around. So why go through all of these steps in your seat????

@Ash2theB9 жыл бұрын
+Adios Epic I've done this on short flights and I love it. My skin is extremely dry so I rather do it while I'm already siting on the plane and not running a trying to find my terminal or a bathroom. Going to the airport for me is so stressful and I'm a last minute packer. And, I usually don't put anything on my face before I leave my house anyways, bc it one thing not to worry about. Once I'm in my seat, unwind, throw on a mask and moisturizer.

Additional comment which people might find odd - does anyone do something like this for car trips? My mom hates to fly so we regularly do fairly long times in the car (5-12 hours per day, depending) and in the winter with the heating on in the car, it can be very drying. It never occurred to me to use a hydrating mask but I bet it would work, and the one in the video looks invisible enough to not look too odd if we stop at a rest area.
@kit76478 жыл бұрын
You could also just do a sheet mask. They're usually only on for about 15 minutes, so you could easily fit it in before rest stops. You can also layer some products, like a serum and a heavier face cream to give you that shot of moisture.

I started developing a similar routine when I first flew to Italy (from the US, via Heathrow) when I was in school because I was a skin and beauty obsessed teen. And as a lawyer who travels a lot (not as much via plane in 2020), it's served me well both of international and cross country flights. It's also very calming and then I curl up in my flying wrap and read or watch movies. I am terrible about sleeping on planes, even though we did many long haul flights when I was a child and unless I need to knock myself out with some antihistimines because I have to get off the plane and be awake, I generally read most of the flight, but try to at least make myself listen to a book or a meditation for an hour or two to let my body relax. I love the current version of the Sisley mask too. I also like the Chantecaille biolifting mask, which smoothes out clear (but is very expensive) and I've recently been in love with the Innisfree green tea hydrating mask, which is very reasonable and so hydrating. An I will do basically the same routine for long car trips, which I take often for work, just when I stop for gas or to use the restroom.

I have booked a 9 hr flight for august. That gives me time to save up samples! i'm excited to do this. Do you ever paint your nails on a flight? I imagine the smell would be awful for others on a plane.
@Liz-mm4bb10 жыл бұрын
I'm definitely going to start saving up on samples as well, they come in handy for flights. Unless you happen to have a completely scentless nail polish (which I have yet to discover), I don't think painting them would be a great idea, especially since other people have to smell it. That's a sure way to make you the most hated passenger on the flight ;) Have a safe trip!

I have a question: why to even put any makeup on to begin with? Put some mascara on at home, SPF and some lip balm- done!

I get what you're saying but some people just feel more comfortable and confident with a bit of makeup, although it's a little unnecessary. It's a self esteem thing.

I'm moving from Boston to Cape Town, South Africa in two months and I've been concerned about the 22 hour flight (plus layovers). I'm so excited to use this routine!!!

I can't even tell you how many times I've watched this video. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your makeup in this video and the glow of your skin after the products are put on. I hate to fly but I've done this video as a part of "spa night".

After almost nine years of watching this video... I finally purchase one of the sleep masks you recommended. I got the Dragonfly in the Peacock blue color!

No7 Beautiful Skin - Hydration Mask! It dries clear with a satin, but dry finish and feels incredible! Also works really well with a Beauty Bar to help glide easily over your skin. Plus insanely cheap price point. I used it tonight in the same way with two thin layers and sounds like it has a similar finish. Love it!

I have dry, aging skin, and fly long haul at least 5 times a year. Despite slathering on creams, oils, I used to arrive looking like a crocodile :( I've been using Lisa's routine for 2 years now, and it's amazing!. I've experimented with several clear hydrating masks. The Sisley is by far the best, but the price may be a problem. The Dermalogica is a great runner and costs 75% less. Instead of the Caudalie mist, I'm now using Dermalogica's antioxidant hydrating mist. More hydrating and nourishing for me. Thanks Lisa!!!

Hi Stace, Flying alone can be loads of fun. The stewards on the plane will help you with any questions, as well as people working in the airport. Twenty five hours IS a long time, but you can do Lisa's routine and tweak it with some favorite products of your own! I have flown by myself all over, from US to Mexico, US to France and England, those flights were about 11 hours. Read, take a laptop if you need to, SLEEP, and give yourself a spa treatment. Happy travels!

Great video. I have some flights coming up, and have allready written down some of the products you suggested, so I can try them out. I will be going back to Aruba, where I have lived, in a few weeks, which I'm really excited about! Meeting with friends and showing the island to my children. This sounds like a great routine while sitting around in the plane.

The longest flight I've ever taken was the one to Miami and if I knew before about your beauty routine, I surely have took some inspiration from it. Actually, I think it's quite an amazing beauty routine to follow also from time to time when you're at home. Thank you for being always so helpful and inspiring

Thanks Lisa, love this video. I have taken a 14 hour flight every Christmas for the past 10 years and I also believe in the magic of a clear mask. Currently I am using the Cream Mask from Esse Organic Skincare, it is beautiful.

You've inspired me to actually take care of my skin. I love makeup and doing dramatic looks, but now I seem to be drawn to looking as flawlessly beautiful and radiant as possible, which begins with the skin underneath all the makeup. Glad I realized this at the age of 21 and not later on. You're a gorgeous inspiration Lisa :) Thank you.

the fresh rose petal mask is great too! and it smells great, i use it all the time on plane, but it is slightly bit brown, but no one can tell in the dark light on plane.

I hate plane trips just because I feel soooo tired and look even more tired when we're landing. This routine is amazing! And who cares what others think when I feel refreshed and beautiful. Lol. Thanks Lisa xxx

Hi Lisa, in 1 month I'm flying back to Europe to visit my family and childhood friends. I am so excited to see them after so long, but a little nervous too. This regime is wonderful and will help me when i arrive there I want to look at my best as they haven't seen me in years. My face has been acting weird lately, but I'm trying hard to bring it back to normal before my flight. Cant wait to visit Europe...my home...!

Wow! That Sisley masque is awesome! I purchased some because of this video and I like it even more than La Mer masques! Not tried it on a long haul but hope to soon. I have dry skin and i used Burt's Bees tinted lip balm as blush on a flight also. So cool that an expert recommends it x

Dearest Lisa. Omg. Love it. I always think flying should be a luxurious pampering experience. Thank you! Could you please do an updated version with products that are for sensitive skin and available in Canada/US Please!!!

Another good mask option is Ole Henricksen's Invigorating Night Gel. Goes on completely clear. It's done wonders for me in reducing breakouts and I love how it tightens up my skin!

Lisa, I've been a subscriber for years and just came back for a "Lisa Lesson" as I will be flying 12+ hours to China in a few weeks. My teenage son is going to throw a fit when I start this routine but I bet he'll be begging for his own treatments after a few dry hours. THANK YOU. I'm an esthetician but I am always learning from you.

Additionally, two products I love to help my very dry, 47 year old skin are Bioelements Gel Therapy and Bioelements Ultra-Rich Crèmetherapy. I layer these two masks (in that order). They do go on mostly invisible if you don't slather too much on. Thank you.
