Why does Ollie sound like a grandpa when he speaks korean?!?! The way he touches Dan's arm and says it's "firm"!! Really sounds like an old man complementing a young man on his physique!
I wanna say that. And when he sounds like that speaking korean, he is assumed trying to be funny. I think.
Omg im korean and as soon as i read your comment i burst out laughing for real lol. I was only liking the aggressive antonation but you r right on point about granpa resemblence
@the_hanburger5 ะถัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
When I was in Korea, old people speaking Korean sounded... Sounded very wizard-like...
Blacknightingalel Ooomg Ikr!! I just commented it on video and I thought it's only me๐๐๐
I think that Dan was a good teacher for Ollie and he lets Ollie try to figure it out before correcting him. Ollie was doing really well until Josh came in and it was like all the knowledge that he just learned was thrown out the window. Josh and Dan both are good teachers but for Ollie I think that Dan might be the better teacher. P.S. This is only an opinion!!!!!
true true but he lost it when Dan got close to him, after that he just fell apart.....poor soft lips
IKR! No hate to Josh, but there is a vast difference in being able to do something really well, and teaching someone else how to acquire that same skill to the same level of mastery. Dan, hands down, is the better teacher! Also, laughing at a person's genuine attempt to learn anything, least of all an entirely new language, is not conducive to the learning process and can be very discouraging. Dan is quite calm, and is able to reciprocate Ollie's level of intellectual enthusiasm and curiosity, and give him proper constructive feedback. He's the type of teacher that you can go back to, without betting on the chances that they're going to laugh in your face. I love Josh as a person and creator, but not so much as a Korean language teacher. Just my honest opinion!
I love that Dan takes Ollie's tangents in stride. He's replying in Korean and in incorporating the lesson into the conversation and making them apply. We stan a teacher like Dan XD
omg i was thinking he should learn chinese too!!!! king of tones!!!!!!!
I laughed harder than I should at this one
omg I thought this too lmao
What! How do u mean? Cantonese actually is an ancient language in China. It probably has longer history than mandarin. Imao if Cantonese isnโt your mother tongue, then you will have a super difficult time to get all the 9 tones correctly and fluently in every sentence.
Dan has such a lovely way of teaching and pronouncing Korean! So effortlessly clear and even. And then I look at Ollie. Putting all his soul into the words. Everything on his face is moving and I just love it XD
Time for ollie to go on a quest to korea on his own and only allowed to speak korean to other people.
OMG I would so watch that
Me either :)
i agree, give this man a medal for this wonderfull idea
How many upvotes to make it happen, Josh?
YES Except Josh cannot give Ollie any clues. At all. And he is only allowed to use naver/ daum in korean.
I think Dan can be a teacher. It seems like he got the patience. He let Ollie figure his ways out first before correcting him and not laugh at the mistake even though its entertaining. Ollie has gotten used to that if Josh laughed it means he said something wrong and Ollie will mentally try to change it even though he only got the grammar wrong.
jumpingcat34 Poor Josh, but I totally agree, WE SHOULD MAKE IT DJ OLLIE BAHAHA
Yeah so Ollie's real Korean teacher BEHIND the screen should be Dan. But the way Josh laugh is everthing!!
josh doesn't want ollie to progress.
But Josh makes it entertaining
agreed for more dolly time!! hahaha
I think Dan's approach is structured more like the typical linguistics class style going into grammatical structure which might be more suited to Ollie if he learns better through order instead of examples.
those are some great observation skills you got there matt! ^-^
Dan seemed like a more compassionate, affirming, encouraging and actively listening teacher who wasn't so judgemental of his faltering, and was forgiving of his mispeaking, answered his less-related questions about language (learning is interesting and fun!) while also providing good examples with diction, emphasise and grammar. Beginner language speakers will often patchwork-quilt particles, verbs and nouns together to try and form a sentence! I know I do ^ยฌ^;
Idk if this will help at all but I can see that Ollie is a bit self conscious about his Korean and I think confidence would really accelerate his learning speed ๐ I know itโs easier said then done but I think slowly building that confidence will lead to great results, Best of luck Ollie!
@sammier.61255 ะถัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
I think sometimes since josh is always laughing at him it gets to Ollie and knocks his confedence..
I think Dan is a better teacher than Josh. No offence to Josh, but he does spend a lot of time laughing at Ollie in the videos

I know it's fun and all with Josh, especially with all the laughing, but i feel like Ollie really is trying his best to learn and he needs a more serious teacher like Dan who won't laugh at every single little thing Ollie does wrong because it only lowers his self esteem more and makes the lessons take longer than they should xD
Got to be honest: I always thought I could never learn korean. But since I watched Ollie learning and not being afraid to puzzle words together or make mistakes I feel encouraged to try and learn it too.
@sriracha.edits.things6 ะถัะป ะฑาฑััะฝ
I'm certain that Ollie is actually fluent in Korean and he's just pretending not to know to trick Josh and Dan and Joel so he doesn't have to talk to people in Korea, i swear it's true
i havenโt thought of this but nOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE
Josh had a huge interaction with Korean friends in his younger age and Ollie started learning a new language in his 30s! He is trying his best and I give props to him!
This video was meant to make Josh jealous ain't it.
I love this sort of little bromance going on and how they complement each other. Dan is a great teacher! I love Josh, but I think because they are so close as friends with Ollie, he loses his objectivity and treats him more as a friend than a student. I still think Ollie is making great progress and his determination is key to any language learning. Well done! :)
I learn more when Josh is the teacher cause they repeat it so much and Ollie thinks out loud and I can follow his connections but it seemed like Ollie learned well and had more confidence with Danโs teaching style. I love Dan and Joelโs channel btw!
I love Dan's personality he is so calm. This is the first time I seeing him in your videos cause I'm just beginning to watch the old videos. Btw Ollie has come a long way since this video. Congrats!
