Koreans (in korea) also wear mask not only as a fashion statement, but it started bc of the yellow dust (aka asian dust) that comes from china to protect their health/lungs from that. That was the main reason of why koreans started to wear masks. So hey. Why not make it fashionable while we’re at it :P

A OH Speak for yourself. I'd watch a video like this for so many other cultures, I didn't really care to see this anyway since Buzzfeed already has so many Korean related content.
@adrianlindsaylohan6 жыл бұрын
Am I not a part of the general population for Buzzfeed videos? There are so many different cultures existent in the United States, and many of them are popular. Just because you're not interested in one particular culture, doesn't mean they're not popular. And based on what are you gauging their popularity?? Let's not forget that Buzzfeed isn't watched by Americans only, and that they have a global audience. And in many cases, the international viewers are the ones that watch the videos. What you've said is baseless and extremely closed-minded. YOU need to wake up to the life that there are other countries in the world, and they all appreciate different cultures - not just the world appreciating a few "popular" cultures.
@adrianlindsaylohan6 жыл бұрын
Oh believe me, I completely understand your statement. But how do you know what the "general population" of Buzzfeed likes and wants to see? And how do you know that I'm not a part of that demographic group? Just because I express interest in additional cultures as well? The two are not mutually exclusive. Answer me this, what cultures are not popular, and why are they not popular? "You sound like you don't like to lose arguments no matter right or wrong.." You're coming from such a self-righteous position, fully equipped with biting remarks such as "you seem kind of young." What you might need enlightening towards, is the fact that intelligence is not measured by smug proclamations full of cognitive dissonance, but is measured by the ability to question logical fallacies and support claims with quantitative evidence. You have demonstrated all of the former and none of the latter. I'm waiting for you to speak with constructivity, and will disengage if you don't.

I'm a Korean living abroad and yes I'm starting to see differences in my life because of the increasing popularity of Kpop, but not necessarily in a bad way. Like I have people that randomly approach me just because I'm Korean (which I guess is good and bad). I also get bombarded with questions about Korea and our culture. (And to be honest, I don't know the answers to probably a good 40% of the questions they ask because it's been 10 years since I lived there lol) But one thing I noticed that seems problematic is some Koreaboos' obsession with Korean men. Like I'm a female so this doesn't apply to me but I hear from my brother that he gets random messages on Instagram from strangers saying things like "I love you" in broken Korean.. And he's UNDERAGE. He says that there are girls that want to date him just because he's Korean, not because they actually love him for who he is. So those things I guess are problematic..

Another time I was clubbing in London and met another Korean duo and we just danced and had so much fun! I think a lot of people have misconceptions about Asians , that they are meek and closed off. I think it's just the language barrier! The reason i had such fun experiences is BC I speak a good level of Korean! I get on well with English speakers, french speakers, Hindi speakers, and Bengali speakers. Even last month I was in Spain and made friends for life at a club :) all because we all spoke English and Hindi. 1:46 yup XD that is true but that isn't the main reason. it's bc the war between Skorea and Nkorea hasn't ended, it's just a "resting time". so the nation makes korean men go to the army compulsively cuz the war isn't over yet.

I’m so glad I ran across this video. You guys are soooo...... cute!!! Tho I have always wondered... is it Taboo for Korean men to date outside of their race (especially when it comes to black women)?
@jakepaulpound-for-pound94185 жыл бұрын
Kenya Collins I am a Korean-American who has traveled between Korea and America for almost 20 years. There are definitely some Korean men who are open to dating black women, but they are not in the majority. Most Korean men prefer paler women. Also, while some Korean men are open to dating black women, amongst them the ones who are open to dating a black woman long-term is a lot smaller. And the ones who will marry a black woman are smaller than that. If you visit Korea you definitely should be able to find Korean men open to dating you, especially if you visit the more urban tourist areas of Korea, but you may have to look just a bit harder.

I like that they answered the questions respectfully & politely. i've seen otters where people will be annoyed over a question, like everyone should know the answer. But there are 190 countries, that's a lot of different cultures.

I’m Korean and I’ve lived in many different provinces, and I’ve never seen or heard of a guy who wears makeup🤔🤔 So I assume that foreigners are misunderstanding because we have pale skins. It’s one of our own traditional beauty standard that is also applied to men, so guys do wear sunscreen everyday. If your possibility to get laid significantly decreases as your skin gets darker, wouldn’t you wear sunscreen everyday? I’m just curious.

During the 80s, in the U.S., Korean-American guys LOVE hanging out in pool halls. Just smoking cigarettes and shooting pool all day long. And in terms of flirting, (I'm Korean BTW) the 'ole "how you doin'" will get you a slap in the face in Korea???

I go to Korea almost monthly and I find that the smoking laws (at least in Seoul) aren't actually that strict. If there are designated smoking areas nearby (especially at places like Incheon Airport, Seoul Station, and other places of significance), then you're obligated to use it. I'm guessing that they'd be stricter in these areas since the designated areas are often very clearly marked. But if I'm at a place without or with less designated areas and I'm not sure where I can and can't smoke, say in Itaewon, Hongdae, or Myeongdong, I often would just look for other smokers and smoke alongside them (safety in numbers haha) or I would just look for a secluded corner or side street to smoke discreetly. I've never been fined or told off. I think that as long as you're not bothering pedestrians with your smoke, you'll be fine.

The K-pop artist who popularized masks in Korea was Lee Juno, member of the band called Seo Taiji & Boys with the song titled "Come Back Home". That was around 1995.
