most of the time we don't see the need for dinner knives because 1. food is typically cut bight sized before being served. 2. since rice is the staple food it is more efficient to have a spoon to scoop the rice with along with the viand (if this is a new word for you, look it up), than it is to have a knife. 3. A dinner knife is really a dull knife and the edge of a spoon is as good as a dinner knife to cut up food which we seldom really need to do as per reason #1.

i like my "sisig" without mayo too. whenever i order it, i always make sure to request a _no mayo_ one. i don't like mayo overall... and the sour flavor in filipino cuisine has something to do, i think because we're prone to natural calamities like storms and earthquakes. whenever there's one, electricity is also not available. putting vinegar in the food or sun-drying the food lengthens the shelf life of the food. this is why Filipino cuisine has the _adobo_ , _tuyo_ , _daing_ , etc...

It is not the regular banana used for turon .. we call this variety "saba" .. we usually fry or boil these bananas or fritters or delicious mashed bananas with freshly grated coconut (only the unripe or still green bananas are mashed in a big wooden masher we call "lusong")... like a big wooden garlic mash bowl

You can split it with spoon while fork is holding it. It's actually faster most of the time cutting meat or fishes. You just press it and give it a pressure and it's cut. While the knife has to go back and forth to cut it like a saw.
