Touching a stranger’s ANYTHING without their permission is considered rude, it’s not exclusive to Black people or hair. 2) Black people typically have Type 4 hair, which is the weakest hair type. That means that it takes a lot more work to maintain it. There’s usually going to be some sort of product in the hair and oils from human hands can mess up that work. This is why Black people react pretty strongly when a stranger tries to touch our hair. 3) There are a lot of people out there that feel they can touch and pet on Black people like we’re zoo animals and we don’t like being treated that way. You’d be amazed at how many people try to casually violate a Black person’s boundaries. It’s like common courtesy and common sense go out the window 🤦🏾‍♀️.
