Nice observation ate Jessica😇 Intramuros is Spanish,Binondo is Chinese then Tondo and Quiapo is Tagalog while Taft Avenue is American you can still see the buildings from American colonial period along Taft Avenue like the Metropolitan Theatre,Philippine General Hospital,U.P. Manila,Rizal Baseball Stadium, the Old Legislative Building which is now the National Museum,Manila City Hall, the Supreme Court of the Philippines building etc..

Based on old pictures, Binondo had a lot of shophouses similar to Singapore with small boats plying along the riverbanks like the floating markets in Bangkok. That would have been interesting to see if it weren’t for WW2.

Tondo is one of the old kingdom in Philippines a long with Namayan kingdom and binondo district this two place is hundred/thousand year older than intramuros (spanish era), this three district in manila have a lot of history and at the same time different kind of delicious food, and as a filipino-chinese I’m really proud of filipino and chinese history, thank you for this jessica ❣️

If you look at the map, the Chinese enclave of Binundok (Binondo) is within the range of cannon shot from La Fuerza de Santiago (Fort Santiago) and Intramuros. This was intentional. If the Sangleyes (Chinese) started to take arms and revolt, then the Spanish could just bombard them to smithereens! Great food mukbang by the way.

Wah the memories you’ve shown eating at those restaurants reminds me of the time when the pandemic wasn’t here yet we always eat those food especially we go to Wai Ying cause my school is across the other branch (there are two branches of Wai Ying in Binondo One is there you are eating at and the other is near my school) I would like to recommend next time if you eat in Wai Ying try to order the Fried Wanton and The Steam Wanton i highly recommend this one this is so good like really good. My tastebuds are craving for it so much cause it’s been 3 years since I last ate in Wai Ying….

If you like oyster cake, try the one from Mann Hann. They have stores in different locations. For Quick Snack, our go-to since our childhood days are the tenderloin steak and the banana with ice. Wai Ying you can't go wrong with anything. Next time try out Tasty, Dong Bei, and Sincerity. Love Lord Stow's too, but don't think they've been here since 1989. I don't recall seeing Lord Stow's during my childhood. Think 1989 was when it was founded in Macau. Best guess is they've been here since 2000s.

Had i known that you are coming to chinatown i could have toured you to the OG restaurant..old school style of cooking.. anyway good vlog and keep vlogging of course with Lia(H) as much as possible haha such a good face to see and funny at that!!!😉😁😝

I love any type of 'Food/Trabaho' series, so Thank you Thank you JL and team productions. Re: Peanut Allergy. There's a Flinders University, South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute trial that tested on 70 peanut allergy kids (from 6-18 yo) with an 80% success rate in creating desensitization to peanuts. The process involved boiling the peanuts to affect the protein structure and allergic properties of peanuts so that the body could create a tolerance towards peanuts. Applied in multiple phases that increased the doses. I remember eating boiled peanuts in Baguio City where I grew up, so that's probably why I'm able to enjoy most foods without worry when it comes to peanuts. ggs all

Malacanan Palace is more China than Binondo. h On the food specifically...think of the Yangtze or the Yellow river as boundaries in China. South of the Yangtze, this is what Chinese food in the Philippines really tends to taste like (hell, there used to only really be one place with sort of decent dandanmian, and no Wuhan hot noodles; unlike the US where Chinese people from everywhere in China are). If it tastes more like Korean food, very likely north of the Yellow river. We don't think much of these rivers today with modern construction equipment, ferries, and many homes having cars and even jet skis in case of floods, but back when most households don't even have a horse much less a sturdy enough boat, these were daunting barriers. Look up how the Xiongnu and even the Mongolians can't just cross the Yellow River, and controlling northern China was what made it relatively easy to cross the Yangtze (but still didn't make for an easy campaign against the remnants of the Song). And the difference with factory siomai isn't the machines used vs handmade. It's the flour extenders in the fillings. I've had cheap handmade siomai on the street that didn't come from a factory and it tastes like flour all the way through. One reason for the copious amount of chili oil used here isn't because of the chili tolerance alone, but because cheap dumplings taste like bread with a bit of meat.

Hi Jessica, I love Chinese foods as well but, I discourage myself from eating in establishments in Binondo which do not issue Official Receipts to their customers. Some of these establishments are: New Po Heng Lumpia House, Shanghai Fried Siomai, Lan Zhou La Mian, and Uno Seafood Restaurant. I hope other people reading this will be able to share this with the authorities and government agencies. Official receipts are a way for our government to ensure that what the customers pay will be taxed and used for the development of the Philippines.

I remember going at Binodo with my mom, grandma and cousin during Chinese new year and I agree to you, the energy there is quite different, amd I love to be there especially the foods, but the thing is Eng bee tiin was too crowded and overrated but still I admit that their hopias and moon cakes are delicious

Lia's bite always gets interupted by Jessica's comment. It's so funny. It's like Jessica is having a podcast while Lia is just there for mukbang yet she overthinks how many she can eat. Wahahahaha.

5:02 I will give this restaurant a 3.0 for still using the old familiar ceiling fans, instead of the new standing box air conditioners. Restaurant managers seldom notice it. You'll never know what's accumulating on the back of those ceiling fan blades. Just imagine what's accumulating on the blades of your home electric fans.

Then it’s up to you po if ir-rate mo yung pagkaing pang pinoy or you will have a mini reunion or camping at dawn with your friends ♡´・ᴗ・`♡

My father used to bring me to binondo many years ago just to eat spicy crab and those memories are still so vivid in my mind. Binondo is such a special place.

actually, the chinatown is a part of intramuros.its the outer part or the extramuros.the chinese are mostly the ones doing menial jobs for the spanish (cooking, cleaning their houses etc.) coz they can't fully trust the filipinos that maybe a member of the guerilla movement.but eventually, the chinese-mestizos (the children or grandchildren of the chinese migrants became involved in spanish-filipino war like rizal and others that became part of the filipino middle class and founded the propaganda movement that arouse the filipinos to fight the spanish.i think you knew some of these.just a levelling off and a reminder.😍💪✌️🇵🇭
