Somethings that I don’t think Koreans realize or know is that the drug culture in America is very different then in Korea. Drugs although may not be condoned or used by everyone is still a very normalized thing. Especially when in poorer areas. Therefore, the conversation or use of drugs isn’t as taboo as it would be in Korea. Edit: A lot of people have taken offense to me specifically pointing out drug use in poorer areas. Didn’t mean to offend just meant to point out how the prevalence of drugs in poorer areas tend to be talked about more. Those who are rich obviously still use drugs it’s just that those who live in poorer areas are more susceptible to being involved with drugs therefore the idea of using it is not foreign. I hope that makes sense.
@KellyAnimeW
@KellyAnimeW 4 жыл бұрын
poorer areas? that's not true. Rich folks use drugs the most then the poorer class. It's just that the poorer class is more talked about. Rich folks overdose on drugs a lot and use cocaine etc the most. They use drugs most poorer folks cant afford.

It’s crazy how different America’s rap/hip hop artists are so different from every other artist.Like artists in Korea would never think about writing lyrics about killing themselves like juice or x and they also would never write about killing someone or taking drugs.Its a whole different culture that half the world wouldn’t even understand.And there’s also rappers like Eminem that take the lyrics to a whole other level and most people can’t even understand stand what he means or why he does it.It’s crazy

This video really shows how people in Asia percieve hip hop and the culture behind it, albeit from a very “innocent” point of view. A lot of what they were saying reminded me of the questions I had in my head when I was a child watching MTV, asking about the drug references and wondering why there was so much ass on screen all the time. They were even surprised at the amount of swearing and slang being thrown around regularly. Really its not their fault though because the music and the clothes and the jewelry is all they see; and then they replicate it through their own lenses in Kpop/Jpop etc. They dont really look at the lyrics and references because let’s be honest, what does the average asian person know about american hip hop culture?
@wassim4007
@wassim4007 4 жыл бұрын
altough i agree with you for the most part. saying that they try to replicate hip hop culture with k pop is just wrong. the reason i really fucking hate k/j pop is because it's sooo fake . they give the artists a really pure image . american hip hop / pop stars don't maintain theire clean image and that's why they come off as genuin (not all of them) anyway k pop is theire own thing and has nothing to do with american culture. you take away credit from them by saying they just replicate american culture trought k pop ( sorry if i went on too long )

@@wassim4007 I honestly agree, even the most genuine of idols still put on a persona in front of fans and can't actually voice their problems or how they actually feel. Dr. Phil was attacked on Twitter by Kpop stans because he called BTS's Jimin a manufactured persona and the stans just couldn't handle the truth, they really thought they are seeing the true versions of BTS in interviews, vlogs and etc. I love BTS but the stans just drive me crazy 💀

North Korea, the real korea, should finish what it started and stop being cowards because south korea should not exist and are the culture thieves of asia whose language culture and ideology all comes from the real countries of Asia. North Korea, the real korea, may be malstructured but is not making money by just dressing up flat girls and giving them lyrics. North korea actually has its own culture and does not adopt out all of its bastard children to self righteous people in other countries. there is no such thing as south korea except for the US government to use as a political tool in asia. I thunk giving them at the end of the video some facts abt the artist and the songs they reacted to will be beneficial and helpful. They will get a better understanding of the artists and the songs. That will also break down some of their stereotypes.
