Two things, both can be true at the same time - 1) Korey, you are my favorite film critic on any platform. I doubt that will change any time soon. You are funny AF. Your reviews are honest and comprehensive. Your chemistry with Martin is as close to Siskel and Ebert as we have. And 2) I have to admit, as an Ari Aster fan, I was pretty let down you didn't make a video out of a Beau is Afraid review. I was so hyped to hear your thoughts, and driven enough to actually find them on your website with an audio review, but it did seem like no video was made because it was determined there "wasn't enough interest". It's personal feelings in the way, no cap, Aster is my favorite active director and I think, objectively, one of the most important, influential directors today. I thought for sure there'd be a video review, nevermind if it was 3 hours of torture, collapsed at the box office and didnt create the buzz of his first two films. Surely, being A24s biggest budget movie, Joaquin starring...that's enough worth talking about there. Surely, as worthy of discussion as, say, Moonfall? It was especially disappointing seeing as how your review and discussion of Strange Thing About the Johnsons is what made me discover Aster in the first place. I don't know, maybe there was no video review for some other reason. Its just my opinion, so roll your eyes internet, but surely others agree - even if Beau wasn't great and downright inaccessible to many - its the kind of original, thought-provoking madness that is MISSING in cinemas. Talk about all the Marvel stuff you want - people like it, I cant deny - but let's be honest - superhero movies are oversaturated and TIRED. An entire generation has grown up now almost exclusively on the genre. They have no idea what it's like to see a movie like Chinatown or One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in a theater. (picking two Nicholson movies was coincidence) - because there is no opportunity to in theaters. I guess what I am saying is - critics have influence. Moviegoers react to critics. Hollywood reacts to moviegoers. So, help end the cycle, or at least help balance the field. Skip a superhero movie once in a while. Elevate a smaller movie in its place. And even if there's a "misfire" here or there (Beau), give it the platform. (these arent demands, just advice from some dude that respects your criticism). Stay toasty. 😎

I don't even understand the criticism, tbh. DT guys have been very open and honest about what gets attention, discussed, and uploaded to the channel.
