I admire Korey's restraint. While I laughed along with the guys during this video, it can be a scary situation. Whenever I go to a con (anime, comic, gamer), we are all trained (signs everywhere) that cosplay is not consent. We are told to ask before taking images (of course if the individual is posing before a group taking pictures every single person does not have to ask for consent). Celebrities while in the public are NOT public property. There is unfortunately no shortage on wingnuts. Everyone stay safe and if possible...sane.

When a person is out in public he or she has no expectation of privacy therefore consent is not needed to take pics/video. That's how the tabloid camera people get footage of celebrities for sites like TMZ. They get a tip that the person of interest is out shopping and let the cameras roll when they exit the store. This is 100 percent legal according to the law.

From my experience doing newspaper photography years ago here is what I know, and feel free to correct me if things have changed: Based on the circumstances and location, taking the phone could/probably would have resulted in charges for Korey (unless the other guy chose not to press charges). If he were following him around for an extended period of time or multiple times and Korey specifically asked him to stop filming/following him, Korey could call the police and ask for a harassment charge--but if you are trying to avoid charges, man or woman, grabbing the phone in a public space is not a good idea. The fact that Korey may be considered a "public figure" due to his career would also work against him. In general, the more famous/well-known you are, the less right to privacy you are granted in public spaces.

I'm white British - and no word of a lie I have learned a lot from Double Toasted over the years about what its like to be black in America.
