Not sure where you live but they are manufactured in France. Sebastian over there runs the site and business alongside Wilfred and his daughter. Wilfred is the original inventor of it. He is only making them for a short time to help The owners of the d3200 and other models that did not have a chance to purchase them years ago. Glad to see that people are still using these units to this day.

Can you still find these vido adapters today ? I have a friend that baught one of these cheap and my first impression was what a relic, but the functions is actually not that bad, but that small screen is almost impossible to look at and I actually thaught why didn't they make a vga port on it, the screen reminds you a bit of the good ole Atari Cubase 2.0 Score, just a quite bit smaller 😁

I just broke out my d888 which is the step below this I think, maybe? Not sure. But I was at guitar center, bought an 8 input presonus interface and the only software I had was a free one called audacity and when using it there were so much latency I couldn’t really record with it. Took it back the next day and they said i couldn’t get my money back but another guitar center had a korg d888 i could go pick up since I had the store credit. So I did. And we used it to record, ran drum mics through a mixer that had 6 mic inputs and eq’d and got the levels hooked up its balanced output to two inputs on the 888 and recorded the drums in stereo. Exported to my singers laptop, then i used thw ramaing 6 tracks for guitars and found out i could "bounce down"all of them to stereo track, and work the faders while doing so fir cool little fading in and out stuff. i thought we were really doing something so badass as two guys in our early 20's haha. man that stuff was so fun. i still have so much to learn about this piece if equipment

I was happy to come across this video. Already have the VGA unit. Was wondering if you know of any places that do any repair work on the 3200. My "Play" button just quit working which prevents me from recording anything. In the mean time I do use it as a live digital mixer.

Hey Shondo, I would think any authorized Korg service center would be able to work on it. The part that has failed on your play button is called a micro switch and it is soldered to the main PCB. There are very standard part and with the right soldering tools it can be replaced. Some of the more specialized chips that run the more complex features of the DAW unfortunately are long since discontinued and no longer available however they should provide many many years of service. I run mine on a surge protector and backup battery UPS just in case there's ever a power fluctuation so that there's always constant clean power to the unit. I'm capable of the repair as well and keep a variety of micro switches available because much of my audio gear has it it's always good in my opinion to be capable of performing the repairs myself so that the gear is not tied up at the repair shop for long periods of time.

Wow! Cool! I have this portostudio at work. But I still haven’t picked it up. I'm interested in trying to use it in my studio as an audio interface for multi-channel recording. That is, so that I connect 8 microphones and each microphone is on a separate track in my DAW. I'm using Reaper. Please tell me, is it real for me to realise this idea with this device?

Yes you can record 8 channels at once on the D3200, then transfer the 8 WAV tracks to reaper for final mixing

Thanks so much for this video! I'm going to try to order one of these adapters as soon as possible! I just bought a 2nd-hand D3200 and want to make sure it works for quite a few years. *However* my only point of confusion is.... Did you say the 2Seemy unit comes with a PS/2 mouse port? Because that would be a great thing to have so I wouldn't have to use that touchy trackball thing.

@@am74343 unfortunately no the PS/2 mouse port was never finalized or developed to production. About 14 years ago yes there was a developer who was able to solder wires to the board directly and get the trackpoint mouse to work with the external mouse but it wasn't a perfect function. Due to the complexity of installation alone it was abandoned.

@@Rockstarrodeos If it's got the original spinning hard drive it is likely gotten corrupted and failed. That would be my guess. Extreme case scenario you might be missing voltages from the power supply and that's usually indicated by all of the clip lights being on steady. If the clip lights are not on and merely blink for a second it's not the power supply. And that scenario I would suggest changing out the hard drive for a working IDE.

@@Bassguitarist1985 I found your google link on another forum. It along with other ISO have not worked. It recognizes the disc goes into restore mode and shuts down. The hard drive has been tested and is good. Formatted the drive to FAT 32.

Great video... Your channel is an awesome resource for this unit. Glad to hear you're a fellow Believer also! Had a concern... Sometimes when I record music I notice the digital faders... Jumping up and down very sporadically It goes up and down anywhere from 5 to 10 Db... And then randomly is bouncing between tracks affecting the individual volumes of multiple tracks so it makes mixing challenging because the volume is going up and down sometimes not too drastically but enough where you can your volumes jumping during the mix. Sometimes I notice it'll just be hanging around faders 13 14 15 and 16 every now and then it may jump to seven and eight... Is it really weird phenomenon. It's like it's possessed...lol I noticed it was doing about 12 years ago when I packed it up...then took a break from music and now and beginning to record and play again after about a 12 year break. Have you ever heard of this phenomenon ? and if you have or know someone is there anything I could do about it to stop those what's happening with the volume issues. Thanks bro

Use deoxit 5 in the faders. If you have an air compressor blow them out with an air gun as there could be dust in there then clean them out with deoxit and work the fader up and down slowly that way it'll clean up the carbon track. I've had this happen too but it's from dirty faders

Hi, I just started using my D3200 again after 10 years of storage. I bought it in 2009. I just made a simple recording and so far everything seems to work. I have a question for you do you know if I should replace an internal battery or anything? Thanks for your devotion to this recorder, I made a complete album on it in 2013, “RACEDAY” by Tommy Leroy Thornton can be found on KZbin, Amazon etc. I appreciate any input about the internal battery, thnx!!

Cool!! I'll look the album up! No internal battery inside sadly. They used volatile memory so when the power is turned off the clock resets. Keep it clean, run it on a line interactive UPS so there are no power interruptions when using it, and you should be good! I'll touch base when I listen to your album. About the same time I did a 9 piece Christian/worship band's Album called "9Th Man " Many hours spent editing/recording. A decent product, but everyone had an opinion on how the mix should sound. Even the final CD there were still tweaks to make. Maybe someday I can revisit it as I still have the raw tracks. 😃

Unfortunately I do not think there are any aftermarket or even from Korg software to convert the DBK. However if you have some time and can drop the file on a Google drive and share it to my email I can open it up on my d3200 and convert it to wait for you if you like? Probably can't get it done until after Christmas though

You would need an external converter. The resolution wont be any larger however. Some converters do upscale though it may not look the greatest. Never tried.

That's certainly would be nice however I don't think the drivers would be able to support an SD card reader. There are some PATA to SD card reader PCB solutions on Amazon that can potentially work. No harm in trying to connect it up and see if the BIOS firmware would recognize it.

Hi - I plugged a D-3200 sourced from Japan into American house current. 125 volts. Did I ruin it? Do you do repair work on these?

Hey. Japan I think is 100V. What are the symptoms? I have the schematics for the US version but not the Japan version. Rebuilding the power supply is theoretically possible however if you fried any of the logic boards inside than the entire unit is trash unfortunately. Korg no longer makes any of the critical parts for this workstation anymore sadly

@@jonthompson5889 have you tried running the unit at 100V with a variac? In any event, my guess is there is damage to the PSU for sure, possibly the logic boards too. White screen and no boot likely means missing voltages (12v, 3.3v, 5v, 48V) that won't let the machine run right. Missing voltages may also cause all the clip LEDs on the surface to stay steady on too.

@@Rockstarrodeos Hey. Did you install a solid state drive or an older platter style? I've heard of issues with SSDs. Unfortunately due to lack of parts on the circuit boards I'm not even sure if I can repair it if there is an issue there. Does the Korg logo come up when you power it up? Are any or all of the clip lights on the control deck lighting up steady? If all the clip lights are on that indicates a power supply problem. If the Korg logo comes up on the screen then everything's good on the circuit board I would then focus on the hard drive. I live in Connecticut, not sure where you live.

I'm sure it is possible to get a VGA adapter but the D32XD has touch screen capabilities so that complicates the installation more. Obviously the external monitor will not have touch screen capability but there are likely more connectors on the screen to allow for that functionality. Research and modification would have to be done. I'll email Sebastian and see what he thinks I know you are not the only one to ask about it. It'd be really nice for that unit because that was a very popular and fully capable unit before they went away from the standalone DAWs

I have this D3200 and I replaced the HDD and it worked for about 10 minutes before it stopped and now the HDD/CD light stays on, do I need to replace the HDD and do you have a system recovery disc?

@@Rockstarrodeos did you replace it with a solid state drive or traditional platter style drive? Yes I do have the system restore disc image I can send you a link. Yes the HDD/CD light steady on indicates a drive error. You have to make sure that the hard drive is set to master and the CD drive is set to slave. Cable select jumper is also fine too. If it was a used platter style drive you might have just gotten unlucky. I do see the Seagate drives on eBay either 40G or 80GB for sale often.
