Why does this sound sooooo much better in your demo than others? Really has a Linndrum vibe. And why aren’t Korg employing you to do their marketing?! Got a better understanding of it in your first few minutes than from their entire site. Big thanks

In my opinion the Drumlogue isn't a particularly versatile drum machine, but I mean that in a positive way - it has a particular vibe that I haven't really found elsewhere. It's kinda raw and unrefined sounding in a way that I really like - and not in a "distort everything" way - although it can do that too; it's just endearingly "primitive" to my ears... So I think if you try to demo it as if it's a "do anything" drum machine, it falls a bit flat. I didn't bother trying to make it do stuff it doesn't want to do in this demo (and my 3 songs that I posted on the channel after this video). And I'm glad the video was useful!

lets goooo!! The minilogue XD was a very 'meh' synth to me before I took advantage of the user oscillators+fx. Now it's one of my all time favorites. So excited for that similar function in a drum machine! Though I was somewhat under the impression that the implementation would be a bit deeper (i.e. covering more voices). Still looking forward to what folks will come up with for the user osc slot.

To put it in context, Akai S1000 was released in 1989 with 8MB and cost couple of thousand pounds “Prices S1000 £2899: EXM005 2Mb memory upgrade card £699: AES/EBU digital input card £99: Atari and Supra hard disk interface card £99: SCSI hard disk interface card £99. All prices include VAT.” The Drumlogue, might only have 32MB but your getting an entire drum machine for less than a 2MB memory stick would set you back. Oh, that memory was volatile too,

Please help!! I am having trouble with the midi and USB on my Korg Drumlogue! BACKGROUND: So I just unboxed mine. First impressions are that this thing is a step up from my old hardware... which consists of an E-Mu, a MicroKorg, and old Electribe ES-1s!! Out of the box, this thing sounds SICK!! I found noodling in the sequencer fairly intuitive... but I haven't explored all there is to explore with the sequencer. I mean, it's only been a few hours. As great as it sounds, it's not all peaches and cream. I am really confused about the midi... and it has become vexing. ATTEMPTING TO HOOK THE AKAI MPK MINI TO THE DRUMLOGUE: I wanted to use the Akai MPK Mini to play the VPM/Noise/User synth but it does nothing. To clarify, it does receive power from the Drumlogue via the USB device port... the Akai MPK lights up... but doesn't seem to interact with the Drumlogue in any meaningful way. I have tried moving through all of the available channel listings, to no avail. ATTEMPTING TO HOOK THE ARTURIA KEYSTEP TO THE DRUMLOGUE: I also tried using the Arturia Keystep with it via MIDI, but all I can get it to do is play the associated drum parts on the keyboard. Key 15 is the vpm/noise/user synth... but I can't play that chromatically throughout the Arturia Keystep's keyboard. Is there a way to see which sounds are assigned to which channels? Is there a way to make all the keys of the Keystep be chromatically assigned to the VPM/Noise/User synth? The internal sounds are fantastic and I live the analogue drum modeling! The sequencer is great and there is a lot of potential with creating all kinds of fascinating IDM and acid breaks/loops!! But I have hit a brick wall with hooking this thing up to a USB controller or a MIDI controller. Any help would be most appreciated!! ATTEMPTING TO HOOK DRUMLOGUE UP TO COMPUTER: Another issue I am experiencing is that when I hook the USB host port to my computer, nothing happens. I don't think I can hook the USB device port to my computer. 🤔 In all the tutorials out there, the reviewers seem to breeze over the process for hooking the Drumlogue up to another USB or MIDI device. Unless when hooking the Drumlogue to a USB controller like the Akai MPK mini, it really is as easy as 'plug-&-play'... in which case, I'm starting to wonder if my Drumlogue has an issue with its USB ports, right out of the box?!? I welcome any insight that anyone here can provide. Thanks!

I appreciate this but I feel that restricting instruments to specific engines isn't the way to go. What if I don't want an analog snare or kick? What if I wanted an analog hi hat? With something like the Tempest or Analog Rytm, each voice can have two analog oscillators and two samples, so you can choose to have either or both types of sounds.
@OscillatorSink
@OscillatorSink Жыл бұрын
I agree with you for my tastes most of the time - hell, I spend significant percentages of my time turning any synth I can get my hands on into drum machines! BUT that flexibility necessitates added complexity and that's not for everyone - the classic x0x machines did OK with a fixed architecture! The tempest is a great example of being super flexible but with a lot more work needed by the user up front.
@EverettDudgeon138
@EverettDudgeon138 Жыл бұрын
@@OscillatorSink Yup. For the most part I use the stock samples built in the Tempest for my drum sounds (808, 909, LM1, Linn Drum, DR55, TOM etc) and use the synth engine for melodies and bass lines. I just purchased a Korg Nanokey in order to see if the Drumlogue would play nicely with that. So far... they seem to get along. I can finally play a melody, a baseline, noodle about to a beat... but... It won't record the actual melody/notes. Everything note becomes whatever the vpn/nano is showing in the display. And if there is an option to step-sequence note changes... for example from C#2 to A2 or something.... I cannot find such options in the menus. Time to think about the return policy on this thing. It's a shame... there's a lot of potential in Korg's Drumlogue... but at this point, it delivers more frustration than value... especially at $600.00 USD. I'll keep noodling... perhaps my opinion will change.

@Oscillatorsink, I can't thank you enough for this!! I downloaded the firmware update and am very happy with the results! The ability to now record on the VPN/Nano really brings some of the necessary value to this machine. I have been putzing around with the Nano and am thoroughly enjoying the different envelopes and filters that we can now add to a recorded synth-line!! And the ability to actually record some melodic phrases alone helps in giving more 'real estate' to an idea. Not sure if there exists a way to step-sequence note changes yet... still noodling. But this update alone makes the Drumlogue feel like the machine I intended to purchase. I know a lot of the tech-world these days release an MVP (minimal-viable-product for the un-agile) and then make updates throughout the next several years to incrementally improve the product. It's huge in the gaming industry. Elder Scrolls and Cyberpunk 77 were broke as fuck upon initial release... and gradually updated to be the product we intended to buy. Personally, I think that's a risky methodology. The flood of complaints alone can damage a company's credibility... and their bottom line. But at least there is a community of great minds out there... like yourself, who are helping to spread the word, and provide clarity from the confusion!! Korg should put you on the payroll! Thank you so much for responding, and for posting that link to the firmware update!!

Wanted to like it, but the size and quality of the screen is really off-putting. Doesn't even look like it fits there with the knobs and you can barely read the text. Sorry Korg, you goofed pretty good on this one.

Meh 🫤 it’s a volca beats with a better snare low memory no sd card no user synth machines as of yet , needs pc for samples no direct sampling and lots of menu diving I’d rather get a Drum-brute impact for simple drum machine. And no finger drumming or velocity sensitive pads in 2022

It's not the most avance drummachine but compare it with a drumbrute??? Fx, motion, polymeter, sidechain, sdk, synth, samples, filters, panning, conditional probability ... that must be a joke
@SonicVibe
@SonicVibe Жыл бұрын
@@ionianechoes none of these user-based synth engines even exist. The sample time is laughable. Hella menu diving. No nob per function. If you’re going to get a simple drum machine, the drum brute impact does all of this. I don’t consider this drum machine to have synths and 4 seconds sample time lol smh 🤦‍♂️ useless, plus I feel the drum-brute has better fx for performance. it also has no sd card to transfer samples have too use pc and no direct sampling makes it a bad sample player. 32 gb memory maybe hold 100 samples

@@SonicVibe the drumlogue is not too exciting. The drumbrute is just a disgrace. Thats my opinion. Oh god those cymbals sound like a ground-loop...

@@ionianechoes I hear you man you brought up some good points, I’m re-watching some Lou pop right now on the PCM and sidechain more on the synth engines there’s some menu diving, but it doesn’t look too complicated. I never had the drum brute impact so I’m just going off of some videos, but I guess there’s more performance options than I thought, and some sound shaping capabilities still not a fan of the sample memory. and I think samples are kind of a pain with it but it could work. I’ve had a lots of other drum machines though in comparison, I currently rock an MPC one I got for the same price as this and if you compare what the MPC one can do compared to this I would go MPC one all day but, they also raised the price on the MPC one I do like the look of it for some reason, but it might be hard to see some of those shift options in a live setting in the club and drum brute impact got brought up because I thought the price was going to be around 300 not 600 I guess a good comparison would be like the TR6s seems to do a lot of the same stuff, motion, controls, etc. for a little cheaper. But if it was more just a drum machine and they took out trying to have synths in it or samples and more knob per function for just a strait drum machine and leave the groove box aspect out. I don’t know it might’ve appealed to me more I’m not gonna say it’s a bad machine and I hope people make some Dope stuff with it. But I think they could’ve made more money if they just would’ve made a vocal drum 2 type machine

@@SonicVibe fortunately there are a lot of different options today. Whatever suits better, from mpcs, elektron, tr8s and 6s deluge, to things like Erica synths perkon stuff, to behringers rd's, drumbrutes or tanzbar. I think the drumlogue is interesting but also a bit late. And maybe just too much o a hybrid thing but not really powerfull on anything.
