Yes, exactly I use the external outputs for a long reverb - in this case I used the Valhalla Supermassive In the monitor Input from Logic. I am looking for a cool Vintage Reverb like Alesis Midiverb for a mobile live set… the effect return is possible to put it inside the esx with the external audio input. 🤔🍀

Well done matthias, very tight mix ! would you mind explain me a bit more about your setup pls ? out 3&4 to your audio interface (with vst reverb) and what's about the other elements like drums, perc etc.. I can see MIDI cables too ? thanks
@matsewunderlich3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I work with Logic ProX, my Audio Interface is the Zoom R-16 (8Analog Inputs), so I use a Stereo Input for the "Dry" Sounds like Basslines and Drums, output 3 is signed as a Mono Output, the same with Output 4. I Like to use a large Reverb on the Output 4 and a Vst Delay on the Output 3. another part in my setup is a fast Vst Noise Gate on the ESX Inputs. A little Eq for the Bass Frequencies of the Stereo Out - that´s all. Yes - I use the MIDI Functions of the ESX, sometimes I use the ESX as a Sound Expander, sometimes only for the MIDI Sync. with MIDI Clock. For all Midi Equipment I have the Emagic AMT-8 with USB (20 Years old, but it works good). My other Equipment (Hardware) , Roland JD-990, Roland D-110, Yamaha TX-81z, Waldorf MICRO-Q, Roland XP-80, Kawai K1R, Korg ESX-1, Korg X5DR. I play all with a Alesis QX49 Keyboard. In this Video is the only Instrument in use the ESX-1. Only the Delay and Reverb Effect was used in Logic in the Monitor Configuration, - real Time. I still have a vintage CASIO Keyboard (CT-370) without MIDI and the IPad with some nice Synth Apps. 😃

There are some selfmade samples in my ESX-1 the remainig samples are from the Beautiful sample pack from electronicsounds. The Sound for this Session was created with the use of the individual outputs of the ESX1. For the chord sounds I used the valhalla supermassive reverb- one of my favorite Effect PlugIn 😊
@toktok37963 жыл бұрын
richtig richtig gut was du aus dem Teil rausholst!! Sind alle zu hörenden Klänge einzig und allein aus der Korg Electribe ESX-1 kommend? keine externen Klangquellen?
@matsewunderlich3 жыл бұрын

Hi! How to link this machine with a DJM900NXS2 mixer?
@matsewunderlich6 ай бұрын
Hi, the DJM900NXS2 mixer comes with 4 stereo Line inputs. If you like to use the ESX-1 - just use the stereo mix output and go to one of the stereo line inputs of the DJM900NXS2. You need chinch jacks for the DJ Mixer and 6,3mm jack plug for the ESX-1😊

Only 2 keyboard part - does it mean you can provide f.e. one bassline and one lead or sth? Thats all?
@matsewunderlich2 жыл бұрын
yes - this is the limit of the ESX-1, the 2 Keyboard Parts are Monophonic - so it is perfect for Basslines or Lead Sequence sounds. But you can use any Drum Part for your samples - so I use here a Drum Part Sample for a Chord Sound
@SilverKnobsHMDT2 жыл бұрын
@@matsewunderlich OK thanks for information! I'm planning to purchase one of these. Very nice dub though! Please let me know what do you think about my dub sets - on EMX :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIbQc2ydoZuEiKs I really love that KORG machine. Truly wunderful. Although it has its limits too.

Im torn between this one and the MX (blue one). I play guitar and drums, but new to this. My brother has the MX and i just really like sitting down and playing with it, putting stuff together. Not sure which to get. Whats the difference between the two?
@matsewunderlich Жыл бұрын
Hi - the blue (EMX) ist the one with the synthesizer engine, the red one (ESX) is the sampler. If you like to be creative withe own samples - the ESX will be the best choice. The New Electribe 2 sampler is red too, cool to play and edit, way better Effects than the old series but no Individual Outputs, and thats the cool thing to the old box :)
@djkanyon Жыл бұрын
Having Electribe 2 i can see that them tube-powered Tribes were so much better in terms of sound. Somehow Korg lost "it"...
@matsewunderlich Жыл бұрын
maybe the newer "2nd" generation is not so powerful, but to get the full sound I used the main output (with tubes) and the individual outputs, and this is the real deal with older hardware - Individual outputs are so cool ! You can isolate bass from drums and for example one output for the chord samples with a massive effect ( I used valhalla supermassive) 🙂
@djkanyon Жыл бұрын

Are these sounds inside the korg out of box? Or are they sampled into the korg? Thanks
@matsewunderlich8 ай бұрын
yes I used own samples too - load into the ESX-1 via Smart Media Card. The long reverb I created wit the Individual out Valhalla Supermassive, the Kick Drum is routed on a mono Individual Out and I used some EQ, but all sounds are from the ESX-1 🍀

@matsewunderlich2 жыл бұрын
sorry - I think you should check all channels with Electribe Live Videos - my ESX-1 was built 2004, and I don´t use it very often.... maybe 200 hours in the whole time :) it is nearly in a new condition...
@DJZofPCB2 жыл бұрын
@@matsewunderlich thats ok im just wondering what you would do to replace your pads if you needed, due to age and responsiveness, most of what ive read, the pads loose their responsiveness over time, and im sure use, you said 200 hours thats not alot. i was just wondering.

From my experience the losing sensitivity in old gear is just dirty contacts. If you carefully dismantle and clean use contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol you should be all good. Just make sure you have all your screws carefully stored 😂

Hi, all the sounds come from ESX-1 - only some effects were added with the individual outputs (ESX Output 3 + 4) - Kick Drum is mono - output 3 = Dry and some EQ, Dub chord is mono too, output 4 - via Valhalla Supermassive = Stereo.
