Just in time for Christmas..... When you consider the size of the keys and the weight of the unit, I could see this being a good starter keyboard for the young, budding synthesist.

This is a tremendous keyboard if you "accept it" as a table top synth with a virtual keyboard attached. Use it as a MIDI slaved 120 voice module with a sequencer and the problem with the mini keys goes away. It's the ideal second keyboard; price, sound, portability and capability can not be beat. Great demo video. Yes! I agree with above comment. Teasing us with that Jupiter 6 laying dormant on the wall. Have mercy. It's practically porno for gear sluts.

Excellent review. The small keys aren't a problem as a full size keyboard can be plugged in via MIDI in. It's best used in conjunction with a computer and a DAW although you can import SMF on the SD card. It's definitely for a home studio especially if you haven't much room. I use mine purely as a sound module in SEQ mode. If you are looking for a live performance synth, then it probably won't be for you.

I know I'm going to sound like an idiot because I'm new to this whole midi thing, but if the size of the keys are a problem for anybody, couldn't you just control it with a midi controller with normal sized keys? Please don't hate me for asking a stupid question!

For all that ask if it have transpose,yes it has ....you just have to go into menu on the keyboard...

One thing that I wish Korg would do, instead of manufacturing tiny equipment, is reissue a fully analog synth like the PolySix for example. It would sell like crazy. Polysix Anniversary Edition Korg. Comon!! And don't make it the "Polysix Micro"!

As the keyboardist for Neon Kross, I'm the proud owner of one of these amazing instruments...but however I do pose a signifigant question - after saving a bunch of programs and combis, how does one go about rearranging them to reflect a setlist's order?

In sequence mode, it has transpose on each track, but sequence mode or keyboard menu, it's not the same as reaching over and pushing a button without having to leave the place where I can change sounds.

They really missed a trick with this SD card not being allowed to access your own loops and sounds, if you could use samples form the SD card this would be a must have bit of kit for many people.

Would be nice to see a new module with lush warm sparkly pads (which i may add Korg a bloody brilliant at since the 01/w) a reasonable priced rackmount module would be right up my street, i had a look at the Korg X50 rackmount however a more up to date engine would be nice in a new rack-mount from korg.

An octave switch would be nice, but a TRANSPOSE switch would be better. Plus, I have and LOVE this board. BUT I would love it even more if you could create patterns and then chain patterns. That way a I could make intro, chorus, verse, bridge, ending, and put it all together. Still, coupled with a good drum machine(I use the Alesis SR18), you can get around that. and they both work very well together through midi once you get it set up. Per your review, i will play with the computer editor more.

Which gives better synth type sounds - Microstation or X50 - I like the X50 for the look and bigger keys but will I get the same type of synth sounds as the Microstation on the X50?

No. The USB connector is MIDI only, and doesn't transmit audio.

That's what I am already doing. Copy copy copy copy copy. It's not the same as creating an intro, a verse, a chorus, a bridge, an "A" part or a "B" part. The stringing them together as I see fit. Then being able to go back to those parts and edit it without having to find the measure it's in withing the song.

i've been wanting that for far too long, I wouldn't mind them having made 2 (at the most lol) microsynths if they were perhaps similar to the roland gaia, as that would be really useful.

probably use a program such as fl studio. this is a synth i dont know how in deapth it goes with sequencing probably jus loops you need to plug the out put into your microjack and use a auido edditing program

probably not but so what? I think his reviews are becoming less and less useful. All he basically does is getting all excited on specs which you can read on your own on the official manufacturers website, flavored with some so-called deep analysis that even a deaf man could come up with. The mini keys are a bit tricky in the beginning? No sh*t, Sherlock?!
