Well is true what people say about usability, but oh boy oh boy they nailed some instruments. Piano character and definition is absolutely gorgeous, very deliciously balanced. They just need drop those prices, which are absolutely crazy, for what this workstation represent. Maybe make v2 and fix those issues people don't like and set price around 1599€? I think then competition should be very scared :)

totally agree, price is ridiculous especially in the UK at £1949 for 61 key on pre-order, may as well buy the Kronos if you are going to be spending up around this money. I honestly thought when watching the first Woody unbox demo video that this would be the 1st workstation I finally buy and Korg had become competitive with Yamaha, but not a chance, back to the MODX I think.

Hey, Korg. Thank Woody for helping you sell these 😁. (Thanks, Woody) Well, the videos help sell boards, but the gear itself has to seal the deal, and this one did. I just got one of these this week, as an upgrade for the Juno DS I picked up 4 years ago. This has the most comfortable 61 key keybed I have played for under 2500 USD. I guess if I had better technique that would not matter as much, but it does. My hands hurt after about 15 minutes on the Juno DS, but not on my cheapie Casio 61 key arranger or the Nautilus (the Casio being useful only as a USB controller) I actually like the pared down (not a Kronos , waaaaah, some whine) panel layout. I can find my way around easily, at least for selecting patches and making velocity and filter adjustments. Contrast with MODX, which is overwhelming. I once tried one in the store which someone had put into a “sequence playback mode” which I could not for the life of me escape, despite working as a computer programmer for decades. I don’t want to read another manual for an hour after work, I want to unwind. The labels on the panel above the jacks on the back is a very nice touch, as well, as opposed to squinting at tiny molded lettering on a back panel. I like that I can plug in a USB controller, such as my Nanokey (X Y pad!) or Casio CGP digital piano without a computer in the middle. No more dragging out the iPhone as a USB MIDI hub. Obviously, the sounds shown on these videos tease interest as well.

Does the Nautilus have a SSD drive like the Kronos? I had 2 Kronos', the last one being V2 and even with the fan running, they still get warm and both emit a electronic smell even after a year(I believe it to be the new type of solder electronics are required to use now). I have sinus issues as it is, and it became a problem for me which I couldn't deal with. That being said, the sound and palette of instruments to choose from is simply wonderful, as well as inspiring. It's nice Korg has repackaged the Kronos to make it available at a lower price range to reach a wider musician base. I've moved on to a Yamaha Montage 6(White Anniversary Edition) and love love love it. But that's my personal choice, and as a former Kronos user I can highly recommend it, and it looks like the Nautilus is a big winner for Korg. It broke my heart to have to sell it, but at least someone else gets to enjoy it. Thanks for all the great info Woody.

I was so thrilled when I first became aware of the existence of the Nautilus( as I had always dreamed of a cheaper version of the Kronos I could never afford.) When it became available for preorder, I ordered one....but the arrival dates got pushed back so many times, I became fed up & canceled my preorder and as it turned out, it was the best decision. Though I was hungry for the Nautilus's display screen & sounds( after having so many disappointments with the Krome)...well, over time....I began to realize how cheap & inadequate the physical controls of the Nautilus really were & are(along with a price point that really didn't make much sense, due to how scaled down it is,in some areas.) I just could not justify making my finances difficult with bearing the burden of $183 per month for a year, just for a 61 key that had less knobs & buttons than a Casio keyboard. Then a few days ago...the new Roland Fantom-0 series came about and it is twice the keyboard workstation that the Nautilus is(in many respects.) Even more amazing, is that the 61-key model is $700 less!! The new Fantom is so extraordinary for the money, that I have read numerous complaints from flagship Fantom users that felt that they wasted an extra $2,000(when they could have had pretty much the same thing for $2,000 less.) I'm sure it's inevitable that you will get your hands on one fairly soon and I am confident that you'll agree...that the Fantom is the most value-priced keyboard workstation ever created. I have one of preorder & I must say, I have NEVER been this excited about a hardware workstation before!
@WoodyPianoShack2 жыл бұрын
great points, I hope to try one myself of course. yes, it is crammed with nice features and those epic roland sounds. my only concern is the touchscreen which looks small and cramped in the demos, and the build quailty and keys (both of which are exceptional on big Fantom)
@HighlandStudio912 жыл бұрын
@@WoodyPianoShack Yes....the Roland Fantom-0's screen is 5.5"...whereas the flagship model is 7". However though, given the flagship's enormous price-tag, I think the big Fantom's display size is more of a disappointment( for that price range, Roland should have included a video output port like they do with their flagship arrangers.) Honestly for the Fantom-0's very modest price-tag, you are getting access to just about every flagship sound source(minus the V-Piano and certain N-Zyme sound libraries)...if my memory serves. Keep in mind as well, that this new Fantom series is the successor to the old FA-series(which had major disappointments on it) and the Fantom-0 is the same price as the former FA! My old Korg M3's display was an inch smaller than the Fantom(along with a lot of menu-diving)...but it did not stop me from enjoying it.) As for the key-bed, I am a bit concerned about it....but then, I don't imagine that the Nautilus is much better(if at all) and the Nautilus is more money.
@ErraticFaith Жыл бұрын
In many regards FA is a vastly superior board to the Fantom-0. Certainly the latter has modern innovation but everything from SN, to Sequencing and wider sound palette hits home on the FA. Zencore is crippled immensely by the loss of the additional 2 BMC. Nobody is going to claim the full Fantom is a waste, that's hyperbolic nonsense from people who shouldn't be buying instruments in this range if they are that ignorant. Polyphony problems hamper the 0 considerably (if you have any clue what you're doing). Most of my useful links are Japanese but if you want a 'western' review of similar go and listen to what Darrick Keels has to say about the issues the boards have. The main positive of the Korgs is that they do not suffer in this area. If you've got an FA keep it. They are the most popular gigging board in Japan by a massive margin. Fantom-0 doesn't even really sell to be quite honest.

Thanks for the demo. Does it have styles like a Genos or other arranger keyboards?
@WoodyPianoShack4 жыл бұрын
no anthony, although the built-in drums arps can get you similar sounding results, but you don't have same control of the chords and variations.

What changes from arranger to workstation? I am an amateur, I like playing and composing music and recording my music on the keyboard sequencer. I also like accompaniments already made, or create them. I like the quality of the sounds and accompaniments. The fundamental thing, however, must be the practicality in the use of the sequencer. I've had a PSR S970 in the past and I have to say it had some nice sounds and accompaniments but an unintuitive and difficult to use sequencer. I would like to change and run into the Korg but I am undecided whether to buy a PA1000 or the Nautilus. Could you give me some advice? What could change if I switch from an arranger to a workstation? Thank you.
@WoodyPianoShack2 жыл бұрын
I think you might find that both onboard sequencers are quite tough to use, at least compared to software sequencer running on your PC. Although there is more power in the Nautilus sequencer than the arranger. However the deciding factor should be if you need or want the auto-accompaniement styles or not, the nautilus does not offer that, only some arpeggios that respond to the chords you play.

@@WoodyPianoShack Thanks, it's very kind of you! Fose it will be better to stay on an arranger, perhaps connected to the PC for the sequencer. In your opinion, based on your experience as a musician, is it better Korg PA1000 or Yamaha PSR SX900? Some tell me Yamaha, others tell me Korg. I have listened to some demonstrations between the two keyboards and sometimes I like Korg more, other times I like Yamaha more, I don't even know what to choose. In the past I owned a Yamaha PSR S970 and the sequencer was quite cumbersome and difficult to use, maybe in the new models they have improved it, I don't know how that of the Korg PA1000 is. What do you think about it? Would you give me some help on how to make the best decision? Thank you

What's the boot time like? I had a Kronos but found it way too deep and the boot time sucks, which is a pet hate of mine. Apparently in the Kronos you could upgrade the PC inside to boot faster. I think a synth like this is designed to be your only synth, hence the depth.
@WoodyPianoShack4 жыл бұрын
you turn it on in advance of when you need it, then go do something else, put the kettle on, brew a cuppa, then it is usually ready. :D
@Amanet132 жыл бұрын
I don’t get it why people wining about the boot time,is not like you playing with the boot on off.Turn it in advance before the show and turn it off when done.

What model of Nautilus do you have, Woody? The 61, 73 or 88?
@Tomperke19823 жыл бұрын
I watched this , and your modx side by side comparison. You love the Nautilus for its playablity, this could be your main board… The modx brings some nuances in the game that you seem to have missed elsewere. You would use the modx as a sidekick thats for sure…. But if you only could have one, the Nautilus ?
@WoodyPianoShack3 жыл бұрын
i really see no clear winner here, either one will get the job done admirably, so probably I'd go with the cheapest and use the money I saved to get a nice guitar or take the missus on holiday.
@doordedeur3 жыл бұрын
What is the position of the Nautilus? With the simple interface it looks more like a follow-up to the Krome than the Kronos. The Kronos also has a lot more in and outputs.

you can record midi, eventually you'll have to record the audio though if you want to share the track
