Drift for dayssssssss! I just watch a couple videos of the new Roland Jupiter X and wow, what a massive difference in sound. This Poly 800 mops the floor with it. Time to dust off my Poly 800 and slay all those fake new analogs

I love my poly 800. Its oscillators are uniquely sounding. But it doesn’t mean virtual analog can’t be awesome.Take the sound of Rolands System8 of Korgs KingKorg. These two synths do shine as well.

Nice ones! So I have an UNMODIFIED Poly800 ... so I can't use these? When are the patches for the unmodiefied (normal) synths ready??
@Sound_ology Жыл бұрын
The patches don’t sound quite right on an unmodded poly 800. Part of it is the resonance restriction, but also the filter cutoff needs to be a little more open than it is by default

Hi, love these patches, especially the Slow Motion at min 3:45 is my favourite. I wish i had a poly 800. Can you make something similar for the Minilogue?
@Sound_ology4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Slow Motion is making use of the paraphony of the Poly 800, so you can't really recreate it perfectly on the minilogue. But what you can do is make a motion sequence to make the filter cutoff jump around; that will give you a very similar effect.

I really like these sounds, but it seems like such a big headache trying to load them onto the poly800. Do you think you could explain to me how transferring these patches into the synth works? After reading some forums it seems very complicated
@Sound_ology3 жыл бұрын
It's really pretty easy. You just set the synth to receive patches by flipping a switch or two on the the back panel. The headphones output from your computer needs to be plugged into the audio input of the Poly 800. Then play the audio file from your computer and you're done! The exact instructions are in the manual.

hi. i just have one doubt before buying this beautiful pack: can I mantain some of the actual sounds (the original ones) in my poly 800 and upload this ones also? I mean, here you have 18 sounds. what about the rest? Thanks!
@Sound_ology3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, the sound pack replaces all 64 presets! There's no way to maintain some original sounds and only add a few selected sounds. I only made demos for 18 of my favorite presets. The rest of them are in a similar style, I just didn't play all of them for the video because I don't like super long demo videos.

You could install the hawk 800 modification. It will give you 256 memory places.

Bought this - where is the preset list please? Parameter 41 / 42 is often very low - reason for that? I can hear mostly only very low frequencies. Tape load ended with good.
@Sound_ology4 жыл бұрын
Hi Maik. The patches do not affect the Moog Slayer knobs, so you'll need to set them yourself. All the patches require the Frequency and Resonance knobs to be at 50% to sound like the video.

Not gonna lie. My Poly 800 had been collecting dust next to my Moog, Juno, and DX7. This video makes me want to start using it again! Any ETA on the version of this for stock/not modded units?
@Sound_ology6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Your Juno is collecting dust?? What synths aren't collecting dust? I've been hearing DX7s more and more in pop recently. I don't have an ETA yet, I worked on converting some of the sounds, but the unmodded unit doesn't have enough resonance to make one or two of the coolest sounds in here. So I'm going to have to replace them with something equally cool.....which is going to be really hard! I need to get my website going first.
@joebasile87516 жыл бұрын
Oh no! Its just the Poly800 that doesn't get much use. Everything else in my rig definitely gets used quite often. But either way, I understand your desire to get it right before releasing. I'm happy to do some testing if you like!

Dude! We should be synth friends. I have a poly 800 and am in the making of a really awesome preset pack video too! You did a great job on yours! I also see you have the Prophet-6 which I am on the verge of shattering my wallet for. Literally, it seems like no synth comes close to it. I have debated buying a kiwi modded JX-3P, tell me I shouldn't do it and to just save a little more for the prophet... haha
@Sound_ology6 жыл бұрын
Oh awesome! Thanks man! There aren't nearly enough patch packs out there for the Poly 800, I think it's definitely worth it to make some more presets :) The Prophet 6 is my workhorse synth for sure, and the JX-3P might serve kinda the same function as the poly 800 or the OP-1, maybe more useful for adding vibe or grit than creating organic sounds, which is where the prophet really shines. Do you have any monosynths?
@brodiecole88566 жыл бұрын
I agree! I feel like the menu diving (although it is annoying) just scared people to much to really try to get those classic tones. Also with the Moog slayer filter mod like it looks like you have, it makes it even easier to really dial in that warmth. Yeah good point. I feel like having a VCO driven poly powerhouse is definitely the next route for me. I've been stalking Reverb and craigslist like crazy to try and snag one for a better deal. And yes! My main mono synth I'm using right now is a Sub Phatty. I really like it a lot. But again, it's got some of that screen less menu diving for certain features. I really adore how straightforward the P6 seems to be with it's "knob-per-function" interface.
