so they say...im not liking this prologue's sound very much. Where's the jupiter 8? Honestly if they made a synth that was 88 keys and had 16 analog voices that was capable of both jupiter 8 and ob 8 sounds, good lord the things I would give for that

That costs a LOT of money, and the higher end analog synths made are already inaccessible as it is. Also people really don't use synths for the reasons they did back in the day... not that many people need a full size, 16 voice synthesizer. Most people use synths for mono/lead or simple chords.

I've been sooooo hoping Korg would come out with something like this. I love the sound and features of the mini/mono but it's too small and not enough keys. this is more like a real professional instrument and less like a toy. not sure if I need one in addition to having a REV2 though.

I'm kind of new to synthesizers, and even tho this doesn't have a sequencer, I still think is the best option for me. There's no super complex menu diving like the Behringer's DeepMind series. Extremly complex for me. But here, its just like the Minilogue and Monologue, its all bout twisting knobs and saving presets, even includes a mini screen to see what happens to 'x' wave in your program as you twist the knobs. Personally, I think the price is a little bit too much, but I'm still getting it. The demo was amazing, its the type of sound I'm looking forward too in my own music. Tremendous work, Korg!

if this has the exact same oscillators and filter as the minilogue its not going to be as "versatile" as the rev2. The minilogue has a very distinct fizzy sort of tone, it can do "round" bassy tones but thats not its forte. That's why they put that low end comp on this thing I'm assuming. The Rev2 has a very round sound from what I can tell the one time I touched one. I think in the difference in construction quality alone the Rev2 is the right choice though.

This does show how great the prologue sounds… but when you’re in the same room playing it the vibrations come up from your feet and goes throughout your entire body, it’s fills the room in a way you feel like the walls could shake but it’s perfectly refined, yet not to the point where you still can’t get completely wild with it but still so smooth at the same time. Playing it is an experience in itself than just listening, man does it still sound so full and lush though.

If you haven't chosen already buy the Rev2. The only thing the Prologue has over the Rev2 is better effects, and pre-filter drive. Other than that it is just dumbed down. The third osc is cool, but I can do everything it can and more in software. You don't need the third osc for the unison sounds, and for basic shapes I prefer the subosc on the Rev2 for most sounds. It works as a better thickener.

[REVERB and MOD activated] > makes a lot of impact, explaining why this sounds so cool. But it IS the sound that made me go WOW too ! I think this is a great synth, despite some obvious flaws. But I suposed Korg had to make decisions to keep it under 2000 (and 1500 for the 8) It all has to do with market strategy as well. Nevertheless, I think they're gonna sell bunch.
@shadowseal22
@shadowseal22 6 жыл бұрын
Like the other guy said, it's the mod and the verb that fill it out so much. The unison modes between the Prologue and the Rev2 are pretty similar for stuff like this. Given the slop on the Rev2 it can actually go dirtier, but it gets a little atonal at that point.
