I am an Ewe myself but I don't agree with the way this so-called independence of the Volta Region was declared. Those behind this issue may be right in their thinking but proper procedures ought to have been followed by bringing the case to the UN, hold a plebiscite before anything else. I don't think the whole Ewe population was consulted and consent was sought and offered before this declaration. Moreover, negotiations about borders, compensations, repatriations, etc. must be settled with the Ghanaian government before we can proceed. We all know how the region has been neglected development wise but we must be serious and to be seen to be serious in our pursuit of independence. Agbe le ngor!

Which plebiscite again? There was one which ended after 50 years. Do you want another 50 years more? The first one said after 50 years,they can chose to be separated.

When the1956 plebiscite was held in the then Western Togoland majority of the citizens were less educated, could neither read nor write and moreover, understand the intricacies of that plebiscite. Many decades have elapsed since that period and now, the significant size of Togolanders' population is educated, from basic to the highest level. In order to have a peaceful and respectful transition into independence, the right steps must be followed. First, prepare the minds and aspirations of the people to yearn for independence, hold initial talks with Ghana govt and go to the UN to invoke the Trusteeship Agreement which adjoined Western Togoland to the British resulting in the amalgamation with the Gold Coast to form present-day Ghana. I hope this small piece clarifies my earlier comment. Agbelengor.

Boss these guys have embarked on a peaceful approach but the Ghanaians have ignored them not taking them seriously and I think thats very disrespectful to them. What does Ghana have to hide, its time for us to stop treating them like second class citizens... during election time we call them Togolese but when they accept the status quo we call them separatists. Double standards.

So by this map all the Keta area belong to Ghana.... then I think they should go so we can make good use of the island cos if it happens to be part of Greater Accra or Eastern like by now we'll be making good money from that area. They're just inward looking people full of envy always complaining adding nothing to our development as a nation as they know they're not part of us.
@kokuselorm9200
@kokuselorm9200 5 жыл бұрын
You are day-dreaming because Keta and its environments all form part of the Volta Region historically. Moreover, parts of the Upper East Region and the stolen Oti Region were all parts of the TransTogoland Trusteeship of the erstwhile League of Nations, which was leased to the UK, just like present-day Togo was to France.

Who is Ghana? Who are the corrupt European partionist? Erverh nation has been from the Volta as far through Dahomey to Gbadagli in present day Nigeria.Understanding and same religiou/cultural practices long before the coming of the aliens and formation of present day England Kwame Nrumah Ghana. We have been a unified nation with Erverh gbe as the lingua franca as far into Anago(Yoruba) nyigba. Ask yourself how come Ewe is understood and spoken well right across the nothern sectors throughout Dahomey(Benin) as far into Anago(Yoruba) land? Our great ancestors as they've been navigating the Nile Valley rivers,lakes and sea so do we in our Ewe nation across the western coastal states.

@@sileteziggar7741 ....my friend not all Ashanti see Ewes as inferior. In fact I know Ewes that see themselves as superior than all Ghanaians. The Tsikata brothers, Rawlings, Late Kofi Awoonor took Ghana as their family property. Confiscated alot of Akan businesses and run them to the ground. These guys were tribal supremacist and of course some Akan might think the same but all this are in the past. We need to learn to move on as one people and one nation. You are saying the white is the cause of this problem but yet you guys are also doing their bidding by championing the cause of dividing Ghana. The white people never wants a united Africa. You guys must be vigilant though because I heard the white people(Germans) are behind your leaders financially. Exactly what they did to Nkrumah, Sankara and the rest. History is repeating itself and its the youth that will suffer (Lamentation 5:7). What this white folks hate is a black nation with natural resources especially oil.
