Saw them last night. They are hands down the best live rock band out there today. Ray Luzier isn't as funky of a drummer as David Silveria was but is much more proficient on all other levels. @theonlyrealjohn21109 жыл бұрын
No offense to David Silveria, who is a far better drummer than I've ever been or will probably ever commit to being, but Ray Luzier is a noticeable step up as far as technical abilities live and his studio work is much cleaner. I also love the random little fills and accents he throws in, he just adds a whole new layer they didn't have playing live before. If Ryan could have become the full-time bassist (Which I know would never happen) ... cream factory. Good to hear that they're still rocking it though. I had the chance to see them in 2009 with Luzier, and stupidly chose to sleep all day instead.
@innis84116 жыл бұрын
The work David does on the studio version is stunning to my ears
@guitarFAIL6 жыл бұрын
Technical skills, maybe. They have different styles so, you could'nt tell for sure. the random drum fills he throws in just mess up the song, it's not meant to be like that. i understand he "has" to put is touch into the sound, but he goes away beyound necessary. remember, SERVE THE SONG
@cvblaylock6 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Everyone wants to say ray doesn’t have groove but they are just ignorant. He’s all about groove but he’s a different breed of drummer than Dave was. He does add some fills in songs that aren’t original but if the band is happy about it and it freshens up songs for them then great.
@alexk40204 жыл бұрын
@@guitarFAIL I couldn't disagree more. Ray's playing in the bridge part is particularly tasteful and makes it groove much more than the original recording. Then the breakdown hits and he switches to heavy bashing. Serving the song doesn't mean play the simplest part possible that fits. It means play what sounds good.
@guitarFAIL4 жыл бұрын
@@alexk4020 you don't have to drum fill every time. Head said it himself when he rejoined the band, Fieldy said "we've been playing the song all wrong for so long", but i get your point
