the clicking you are hearing as drums is actually the bass! Fieldy sets his tone up to max out the treble and the bass but scoops out the mids, so the clicks from his slapping technique really stound out and the deep tones are REALLY deep. He is often times called a drummer on bass. A lot of bass players mimic the guitars, Fieldy does that with the drums instead.

You asked if this song represented KoRn. Yes and no. This is by far their most popular song and the one that pushed them firmly into the spotlight. But you said it correctly that it's very hard to nail down their sound in one song. Jon Davis is a FANTASTIC vocalist and inspired generations of singers with his ability to seemly transition between "clean" and "harsh" vocals and adding in various non-word vocalizations. Since you enjoyed the video so much, if you plan to follow up with more KoRn I would suggest "Falling Away From Me" as that music video sort of picks up as this one ends. Other songs that help capture KoRn: Coming Undone, Here To Stay, Right Now, Rotting in Vain, Make Me Bad. If you want more emotional songs: Thoughtless, Souvenir, Somebody Someone. And on a personal note: Can You Hear Me? is a song that super resonates and helps me when I'm depressed. If you want to guaranteed cry on camera: Daddy. This song comes with a few trigger warnings and is a masterclass at capturing raw emotion in a music studio. Many people have reacted to it, but it wasn't easy for any of them. And lastly if you ever just want to hear Jon Davis and his vocal range in a fantastic setting and a nice free concert (but far too long to react too) search up "Jonathan Davis And The SFA (Alone I Play: Live At The Union Chapel) FULL", grab some tea and sit and enjoy.

It’s nice to see reactions to Korn! They’ve been around a long time and they are still making music and performing! A deep dive into their early music is a good introduction to the band and their unique sound. Falling Away From Me, Clown, Blind, Faget, Shoots And Ladders to name a few! They’ve done 14 albums and are still creating music and touring!

I am at 7:43 in the video. and just realized that these reaction videos are really actually, very educational. I like learning how a vocalist describes what is going on in the song. As a guitarist growing up listening to something like this, it really is nice to hear. thank you for making these videos, please keep doing more, and more popular 1996-2007 hard rock/metal /nu-metal/ hardcore. anything. this is my first time seeing your channel on this video, idk what u do on your other videos.

Her face throughout the first part of the video reminded me of how I probably looked like the first time I watched this on MTV as a child. Instantly hooked and was a KoRn fanatic for quite a few years. This song still causes such awe after all these years.

the reggae you feel is the groovyness its metal with hiphop and groovy bassline. the clicking sound you mean might be the bass cause hes slapping so the strings make a clicking sound also. the animal sounds are scatting singing without words :D

I sat watching in anticipation awaiting her reaction to the scatting/drop. It did not disappoint!

I love her face at the improv vocals! The concerned confusion but we're all into it. XD Metalcore cookie monster is kind of accurate!

I love your analysis. This is one of my favorite songs. You picked up on so many nuances of the vocal performance here. I will listen to more reactions of yours because you have an amazing ear and you enhance my enjoyment of the listening process.

Love it 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 as people have said that “clicking” is actually the bass player and the sound of the strings hitting the frets as he slaps. More KoRn reactions please 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Falling Away from Me, Got the Life, Dirty, Blind are all great ones to explore 💯

I used to play rugby at a fairly high level throughout my teenage years, I used to listen to this song before EVERY match. Now I'm 30 years old, and a therapist.... but to this day I hear the "GO" and immediately I'm just like "cool who are we fighting? let's fucking have it"

I've been a huge fan of KORN since I first heard them. All of the instruments are PLAYED by the most inventive artists. The BASS player Shifty gives a signature sound. They had to replace their drummer because he played Soo hard he had wrist injurys that he couldn't recover from. I thought you were going to rip them apart because you look very pristine but I appreciate you laying it down in your professional opinion and dissecting it in a cool way.

KoRn is a band that made other bands of that era like Orgy and Limp Bizkit types of bands. Influential band is an understatement for KoRn. I am a huge fan of the early stuff because I feel they were more HEAVY back then and I grew up to jamming to the 1st album. Blind is STILL my favorite song all time. That whole album is a banger. My faves include, Blind, Clown, Fa**ot, Did My Time and many others. Welcome to the rabbit hole. Keep it going.

I love Korn but Orgy was my JAM back then. It's rare to see someone else mention them anymore 😂

@@darmakx99 I absolutely LOVE Blue Monday remake by Orgy. That song still hits as hard as it did back then. I also catch myself listening to Adema at times. Gotta love the forgotten bands sometimes.

Love this reaction. Korn is a very unique band. I loved their Unplugged session, they had so many unique instruments on that show. An armonica, a saw player, bass trombones, marxophone, hand bells, etc. They also had Robert Smith of the Cure sit in, as well as Amy Lee from Evanescence sing with the band. Unfortunately, there aren't that many videos of the Unplugged session available on KZbin. Maybe check out Got the Life - Unplugged.

Back then we didn’t hear Jon’s vocals as much as felt them. They were an emotion. Looking back I understand it better. His vocal style was a representation of that 90’s despair and disillusion many of us felt. His vocals were that anxiety and disgust at the world the boomer generation had given us.

Great reaction to a great band/song. This song is a dig towards the music industry/record labels. How they treat the band like a "sideshow".. "Come one, come all. Come see our 'freak' on a leash". The band does all the hard work, gets no free time, and gets paid pennies in the end ie. "A cheap f*ck for me to lay". They want to see the light of success, but there is always a price to pay, even if/when you make it big "You wanna see the light, so do I..." "Nothing in my life is free.."

The first one of these I saw with you, was Metallica “One” and now this. Knowing you haven’t heard the songs before and waiting for you to get to the “parts” and being able to see your reaction(s), is like a kid waiting for Christmas. Sooo good!

It was a pleasure watching your reactions to Jonathan Davis and Korn. He literally redefined vocalization in music. Shoots and Ladders was this bands first mainstream hit and perfectly displays his unique ability to manipulate vocals to best describe a raw emotion. Other bands have tried to emulate and/or incorporate Korn's style into their own and while it's been successful for some, such as Disturbed, it's been a miss for others... Jonathan Davis is also a composer and wrote the soundtrack for the movie Queen of the Damned.
