Yes, indeed, KoRn’s biggest song- and while hardcore fans often bristle at the top hits, in my opinion this remains a masterpiece. For starters, the songwriting and particularly the arrangements, blending and weaving it all together. Then, how they threw in scores of musical/vocal elements all over the place; you clearly heard that for yourself. I always recall the era this was released in. Because I had just moved out on my own for the first time, so I was trying to carve a path into young adulthood. Then this album dropped, and this song got released as a single, and I started hearing it more and more. Parties. House parties. Grad parties. Radio. The group had taken off. But little did I know this late ‘90s video would kind of blow up again within the modern reaction community. So I’m very glad I was there then, and also quite glad to be here now.

Goosebumps are *entirely* appropriate for the the first witnessing of JD doing his thing in this. The shout of "GO" he closes it with is one of the most impactful drops in music imho.... vanishingly few songs get a concert crowd bouncing like Korn do with this. #Special \m/ (-_-) \m/

13:23 THAT part is called a "heavy scat", it´s basically the same as a scat on jazz (i might be wrong on this one) but in metal haha, jonathan davies (the vocalist) created that for this song, now he used it on other songs, sooooo, you should check this 4 songs with a heavy scat, besides freak on a leash: 5. twist (this one is just 50 seconds so maybe just to listen alone, not a reaction) 4. Rotting in vain 3. seed 2. worst is on its way 1. BBK EDIT: you should also check falling away from me, fake, and well a lot more.

Jen, if you're interested in Mr Davis'...unusual vocal talents, check out Twist, off their second album, Life is Peachy. Or better yet, if you can find it, the CD album included a "hidden" track (it's, like, track 99 or something - basically, you had to leave it running to find it) of a vocal-only cut of the same song.

First time I saw them live: Big Day Out in Melbourne 1999. I wasn't in the pit, but was at the stage next to it waiting for Marylin Manson to go on when Korn finished. Excellent job, young lady...if you'd like to tap into something that I'm convinced would bring mega views and you'd be the first voice coach (that I'm aware of) to do it, react to Mother Love Bone with Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns...this was one of the original grunge bands, whose lead singer Andy Wood overdosed and died, leaving the remaining members to form Pearl Jam...Andy was Chris Cornell's roommate for awhile and has been honored numerous times in song...Would by Alice in Chains, Say Hello to Heaven by Temple of the Dog, Far Behind by Candlebox are all dedicated to Andy (there are even more)...they are a massively important band to the grunge community and Andy was pretty much univerally beloved...I believe fans would flock to hear you analyze his voice and to finally see someone honor this really special musician...❤

Most of his songs have deeper meaning. Word back then was he was terribly abused by his father, bullied in school, and he contracted HIV. I do not know for sure, but that's what everyone was saying. More recently, a story came about that his HIV tat was really about being bullied. I'm not sure which, but either way, he had a rough life early on.
@christineghere2461 Жыл бұрын
I’ve never heard that he had HIV, but I do remember hearing, in an interview I think, that he said his HIV tattoo he got because he was bullied practically every day in high school, called a faget, even by teachers, because he wore eyeliner & painted his nails black, as he was very into new wave/ goth music in school. He wrote a song called Faget on their 1st record, track #6 (one of my favorite songs by them), & it is such a powerful song, his middle finger to all the bullies, & the HIV tattoo reminds him of that.
