@clickrick I think that one of the biggest mistakes the Democrats are making right now is that they are being far to "conservative". What I mean is, they haven't really campaigned or made much of a reaction to Trump yet. Some of this makes sense, let Trump have his moment early, especially since Republicans are hurting for money when it comes to the presidential election. But to the average person right now, Trump is the only person they see and that certainly can't be good politically. Also Democrats need to do more about the economy. Most people don't think it's good and being told it's good isn't a very convincing alternative to Trump's attacks. Say what you want about his attacks, they stick better when people aren't thrilled with the status quo.

"Closed" meaning only Republicans can vote in the Republican primary (no independents or crossover Democrats can cast a Republican ballot), NOT that the polls are closed. Polls are open until 8pm...still plenty of time to vote if you hurry! Or mail-in must be postmarked by today or in a dropbox. So the point he's making is that the approval numbers are from Republican primary voters.

It's actually not as bad as it seems. 2/3rds of those polled are Republicans and about half think Biden stole the election. Expand that out to the general electorate, at least half of which will be Democrats, and that number becomes 25% that are nut jobs who believe Trump's propaganda.

This is about the primaries, though. Voting for which candidate a given party will put forth in the general election. In the general election, you can vote for whoever you want. It makes sense that you wouldn't be able to vote in both primaries, although it's stupid how hard some states make it to switch party affiliations.
