Thank you for the Japanese lesson! I didn't know about the usage of 'setsu' until now. Does that mean it could substitute 'kamo shirenai' or 'to omoimasu'?
@KumaiYuki_EN27 күн бұрын
@MeizarFarizky Thank you for your interesting question😊 Based on my understanding, "setsu" is similar in meaning to "kamo shirenai". Both expressions below can be used to mean "Maybe I could've just used Japanese": a. Nihongo-demo yokatta setsu. b. Nihongo-demo yokatta kamo shirenai. However, there's an important difference in usage: "setsu" is a more casual expression often used in online communication and between friends, while "kamo shirenai" is a standard expression used in both casual and formal situations. On the other hand, "to omoimasu" carries a different nuance from the expressions above. It expresses a stronger level of conviction: c. Nihongo-demo yokatta to omoimasu. In English, the sentence c above would translate to something like "I think it would have been better to use Japanese" or "I think I should have used Japanese."
