most dangerous? Blood bending and bending the life out of someone with airbending seem to be the most dangerous by far. Or maybe you meant among the main characters, then yes you are correct. Then again Mako can fire lightning and I would. argue it's more dangerous than lava by how fast it is lol.

@@dohalimilqarasdeldemenanci8483 No. Lavabending is the most dangerous ability of all. Bloodbending is dangerous, yes, but it has the restriction that it can only be used during the full moon. And cases like Amon are exceptional given this restriction, making it almost impossible to see a Bloodbender. Taking the breath out is also dangerous, but by the time you're doing the hand positions to breathe out someone else, someone's already knocked you down.

You are right, it's a rare ability but it doesn't mean it's not the most dangerous. The reason the show removed blood blending from the show it's because it is too OP.

We saw that Aang could not let go of his earthly tethers with just the avatar state let alone learning to fly. Makes sense for Bolin to lava-bend since he's half fire-bender.

being half firebender isnt what makes bolin a lavabender. Lava is just molten (melted) rock, the same way water is melted ice. If a requirement for lavabending was being half firebender, then waterbenders would need to be half fire to melt ice to water.

@@vincentsearcy8037 Its never stated or implied you need to be a pure blooded earth bender to metal bend. You just have to be A earth bender. I highly doubt every single metal bender in the show is pure blooded. Especially with how mixed republic city is.

I love that Bolin can lava bend but I don't think that explains why he can't metal bend. Mental bending isn't a completely separate element like with lightening and fire. Metal is literally just earth bending on a smaller scale, nothing should be stopping Bolin form being able to metal bend even as a lava bender, especially since Bolin is a very proficient earth bender. Also I don't believe there's ever been a rule that you can't have two sub elements.

That's true, but as we can see, they have some random Red Lotus member bend the poison while Ghazan is just standing there. Meaning that this lavabender can't metalbend either. I guess it's just a given that if you can metalbend you can't lavabend and vice versa

Maybe it due to the gene variety ? and how they can't really percieve earth in such small amount, unlike some people like Toph (ofc), her children, and someone like Kuvira whose very perceptive, accurate and precise ??

I guess it's because metal bending is a special subset still that takes a lot of skill because it's bending more refined and processed earth than just earth per se. The same way that lightning is a more concentrated form of energy in their explanation than just making fire. And so, lavabending takes a totally different skill and personality for the person to be able to practice it properly.
