900 lb ft of torque in a 6.8 liter v12 running nitromethane is the most ridiculously inefficient engine I have ever heard of 😂
@isaiahking4165Ай бұрын
From a NA engine at 500rpm? I could only imagine a 10 liter diesel putting out similar numbers NA. I think if the goal was to make a very inefficient engine he failed. This dude doesn't seem to know a whole lot about how engines work. He says he wants high rpm, then sets the valve springs all the way soft, then cant figure out why it wont rev. Also said 6 carbs wouldn't work, why wouldn't they? The fuel delivery is driven by vacuum. He definitely can say some key words though.
@unicronneedsfood1446Ай бұрын
@isaiahking4165 yeah the valve springs pissed me off too. Also the rpm doesn't matter so much for torque, it's horsepower that is torque*rpm. Torque is generated from the force of the piston moving down in the bore, so from a massive displacement and stroke length, a large torque number at a low rpm makes a lot of sense. You also have to remember it is nitromethane, those engines on average have a crazy displacement ratio of something like 90lb-ft/lb. From a 6.8 liter v12? Man bro that should be about 500000 horsepower. And it makes 900. Also if you watched the video to the end you would know that it actually is so ridiculously inefficient that the torque output becomes negative in the games samples for above 2000 rpm.
@unicronneedsfood1446Ай бұрын
@@isaiahking4165 also not really a 10 liter diesel, maybe, but really all you want is a longer stroke length for a torque output at a lower rpm like that. Basically how I learned it in school, oversquare engines will be more rev happy and produce a higher horsepower than torque number. -- an under square engine will produce more torque than horsepower, and be less rev happy because the piston has to physically travel a longer distance so it is actually moving faster and under more load than an oversquare engine at the same RPM. You can also think about your connecting rod as a lever, the longer it is the more it multiplies the combustion force at the large end of the rod, with the same amount of fuel/air by volume (as long as you discount that you will need more energy to overcome the extra weight and inertia of the larger rotating assembly.) It's best to learn about the principles of mechanical physics in an ideal scenario, no friction or weight etc, atleast in the most basic form. If you don't care to do any math.

Cadillacs in the 70s making 120hp with an 8L v8
@unicronneedsfood144629 күн бұрын
@@AD_RC when you consider all the emissions shit they had to deal with its not the worst. Those engines were made in a time where you made power by dumping fuel into the intake ports and supplying air only by vacuum. Forced induction was not a thing! I would criticize the cars for weighing 9000 pounds and being on 175/60R15 tires. Not so much the engine. Where if you just tear out all of the emissions hoses other than PCV and mount an aftermarket carburetor, or an oem one before the emissions ban of 1971. You do big block things, and make around 500 horsepower. If you haven't done anything with those motors I heavily encourage you to slap one in whatever eurocar you drive. And I know you drive one. The German kids are the only people who say this because anybody else doesn't know anything about their car, drives a JDM, which is largely inspired by robust American design internally. Or Knows enough about engines to know exactly how an 8 liter (500cui) v8 can make an anemic amount of horsepower. It's the same concept as the geo metro, squeezing as much power as what it can out of such a small motor. Just in the inverse of being a large motor. You see back in the 70s the average American wouldn't buy a car if it didn't have a v8. So really they did what they could. You could also criticize GM for their notorious electrical issues. Or the fact that a lot of those old caddies didn't have sway bars. ALSO the motor in the chrysler imperial is much worse than the cadillac 500 ever was. Those things actually break. The 0-60 time is never. Atleast an 8L v8 could drag ass up to 75, which is the speed limit on most highways.

I wasn't gonna say anything because maybe beamng doesn't make sense and these engines will work, but there was absolutely no point in setting the redline to 12k in automation because the engine will literally die if it has zero torque, it can't spin itself or any accessories, not even in neutral. So you essentially have a redline of 2-3k like both of you ended up with, you could've made it more interesting if you either actually tried to make it weird at super low revs, or tried to make a super high reving car that makes say 30ftlbs at redline at 500 at 1k rpm

Here's an idea for you that I actually tried recently. I don't know if the game will let you get away with actually making a car like this. Try building a competitor for the Pigeon for title of wimpiest car in BeamNG. I was able to make a 2 seater coup with an I3 that was both barfing and the other end ejecting a whopping 5hp and 5 lb-ft.....Automation kept saying a critical problem was the engine was too underpowered for the vehicle. I had to compromise and bump it up to about 30 ish hp and 42 ish lb-ft. But the competition won't be time restricted like this, but what is the weakest engine you can make that will work in a vehicle that will still run? Second idea is kind of the opposite of the sleeper idea. So a sleeper is a car that looks normal and sounds, generally, normal but is actually tuned and modded to be a high performing machine. Make fakers. Cars that look fast and sound ungodly loud and powerful, but have relatively normal performance. The source of that idea is a bit of a riddle. What idles like a Cessna, screams like a banshee, and has 6 cylinders? I don't know either, but I apparently built it. Like it hurts. I'm nearly getting headaches from listening to it, it's so stink'n loud. I'm going to have to join your discord and share it with you because like I was trying to go for performance V6 turbo and it just screams at me. I'm tempted to rename it from the current Lynx Turbo to something that pays homage to the XF-84H Thunderscreech (aka the Mighty Ear Banger.)
