Hey everyone! Welcome to the continuation of our Scrap Mechanic co-op survival adventure! In this episode kAN and I saw how you guys felt about our janky gravity flyer and decided to build a proper helicopter / gyrocopter contraption powered by thrusters! This machine will help us explore the map way easier and make other tasks less tedious! If you want to save on fuel, you can make a logic-timed pulsejet. Whenever the thruster is off, it doesn't consume fuel. So you only use the amount of fuel it takes to keep you in the air. For more thrust, overwrite the pulse with a button press.

You could safe a lot of fuel by decreasing the thrusters' thrust and rotating them further downward.

Doing that would save fuel, but it would also decrease the maximum payload weight, since currently they rotate downward for additional lifting power.

I did some tests with my heli a few days ago, and I used less fuel hovering than I did while accelerating. thrusters fuel efficiency seems to have to do with how much mass its trying to lift. I could be wrong because I was just trying to log how long it could fly on a single tank of gas not test for efficiency, but it would account for how varied my flight times were.

There actually were a few helicopters that had thrusters on the end of the blades, they’re called “Tip Jets” and they weren’t a great idea IRL, believe it or not.

The thrusters are pushing far more to the side than they are down. You could either lower the power or put them on a pulse timer and save a LOT of fuel. Or you could just have them aim straight down always, significantly lower the and spin them with an engine. There are many ways to make this far more efficient than it is

keep the gun, put it on a logic loop and add a spotlight attached to the gun. it will make aiming easier and provide light for flying at night. plus logic looped guns are more effective

I think a way to make the gun more effective would be to add multiple guns and some sort of sighting system so that you can aim in first person, also adding clock logic to speed up the guns firerate. A great episode as usual guys!

Now that you can fly. Have you compared the accuracy of the map yall made from the beginning?

In the topic of the one thruster boat. You could go to a warehouse and get the hatches that close with a switch on the entrance and exit of the vents on the last floor with loot. They are made with plastic mesh block what has 2 friction so you could make a little boat and attach 4 of those on the bottom to be able to slide on the ground. Also you could change the flyer to have spinning "propellers" powered by a controller to act like gyros for stabilization. Set them up like a drone quadcopter blades, or just to like a chinook helicopter, they would make is stable and you wouldn't waste fuel on spining the propeller thingies. Instead have thrusters pointing down to use 100% of power for lift. Thrusters unlike engines use fuel based on power setting and time they are turned on so if you have 4 thrusters spinning sideways wasting fuel and lifting the same amount of weight 2 thrusters could easily carry you are just throwing away a lot of energy for no reason. You could have them in 2 independent sets on opposite corners to be able to use just 2 for flying and activate the other 2 for more power and speed. I have few flyers like that and they are pretty efficient.

@kAN i made a small flyer that has a supension glitch gyro "rotor" you and scrapman showed its working on someones creation in your workshop helicopter showcase. my interpretation of it uses only 3 thrusters for a single person and the fuel lasts for a good amount since they dont run 100% besides the forward/up thruster. the "rotor" can use 4 thrusters without any changes beside slapping on those. and it uses not a huge area so using multibles is also a option.

MM idea! That curvy road that you guys fly over at 25:00 is made into a track around the lake. You give everyone the base components (lvl 1) to build a car but only a limited amount of component kits to upgrade their suspension/chair/engine whatever.

Do a multi player Monday with the copter but as cardboard. Two to a copter one shooter one driver. One team tries to land and capture the flag of the other team then take it back to their base. The other team will try to shoot you down in their copter. Fastest time wins.

fyi the map "only" has a size of 6144 x 8064 meters, including the sea area until its invisible barriers. It consists of 48 x 42 tiles, each having a size of 128 x 192 meters, or 512 x 768 blocks. At least that's what I measured. I was baffled when I found out tiles weren't square. Also a funny thing I discovered: When I reached one corner of the map, the beacon on the diagonal opposite corner disappeared. It only showed up again when I got closer than 10km ;)

with my flyer, I use 2 spudguns to pop cartboard blocks. On the cardboard blocks, there´s explosives (I also have a retractable langing gear, especially to land with those attached) that can be dropped on bots. Maybe you guys do that, too ^^

Idea What if we could upgrade containers? (Can we please try make this a public idea so we might see it in an update?) Level 1 is 5 inventory Level 2 is 10 Level 3 is 20 Level 4 is 30 (i think thats a full chest) And level 5 can be 40, giving more space than an actual chest, but it might be semi expensive to get to, not like extremely expensive but not susper cheep either

Why not add a diesel engine to turn the propeller, lower the thruster power and use the thruster more vertically. I think that would save a lot of fuel as here most of the fuel goes to spin the prop

Multiplayer Monday: Teams are provided identical helicopters with guns. (either single man or multi-crew copters) - Contestants build transport trucks with _open flatbeds_ to move explosives across a course. Canisters can be protected / concealed by a layer of carboard that is only 1 block thick. Truck would have engine limit to allow copters a chance to catch them. (2 Lvl 1 Electric) Driver can use lift to reposition truck if stuck but cannot spawn in a new one. Copter pilots can spawn in new helicopter if needed. Scoring: 3 points for transport reaching the goal line 1 point to all players operating helicopters if a truck is destroyed by any copter gunfire 0 points if truck is destroyed by driver error (rolling/flipping, etc that sets off explosive)

To fix the gun I would attach the gunner seat to the gun so it tilts with it and you can build a sight for it for first person view. You could always attach a light to the side of the gun as a spotlight if you wanted that. Another idea, what happens to glow sticks when they are fired out of a pump, is it just the item or the really bright glowing stuff? (could go on the chopper if that's a thing)

You can fix the oil getting to the fuel chest by using gas canister and vacuum pumps
