The KOTOR remake wasn't one of them, but I don't remember if there were more and they redacted the entire thing so maybe. Silent Hill 2 remake was confirmed as one and the FF7 remake series were also confirmed. I don't remember about FF16 but I would assume that also got locked.

What am I most excited about? For the whole thing to exist. KotOR is one of my favourite games ever. I played both it and Jedi Knight 3 a lot in 2003 and 2004 and those are some key childhood memories.

Oh yeah, same for the space suit movement speed on Paragus Mining Station in KOTOR 2 - that was just tedious to endure. For sure they need to do more than just upgrade the gfx of the old maps - they need to be expanded with more content. This is one area where I would pay for DLC, but not tiny piecemeal crap - if I'm going to pay for it I want it to be wholesale planet by planet at least. With something like 6 worlds to visit and one that was never actually populated in the OG game (Yavin IV) I think that there is a lot of potential for expanding the experience and prolonging the gameplay.

This is 1000% better journalism than the gaming sites. It delves into analysis in a clear and concise format. It doesn't take a single comment at face value and instead places that comment into context. If the black series figures of bastila and Malak are based on their appearance in the remake, it’s pretty interesting that hasbro list them as coming out on the 24th of July. Pretty close to the 16th. At this point, my assumption is that they’re either waiting until then to have their own day that they don’t have to share with other reveals or they have absolutely nothing to show.

I have foolish hope that we see something either summer games fest or something on its 20th anniversary and the latest a gameplay reveal at the video game awards. But if I’m truly being honest what I’m excited for the most is how they approach the leveling system and the loot for a game as much as I love it the loot was underwhelming so I hope they expand it as well as the upgrading system and add more unique weapons and armor to use and how they improve the character quest and romance options maybe we get to romance canderous for the heck of it

Ok this is actually big news. I just hope the team is passionate about the game like Aspyr was. I want to believe in them I REALLY do but I just know nothing about them and whether or not anyone on their team has played Kotor 1 and 2 and know the lore behind the Old Republic. Many people want a remaster but I'm fine with a remake as long as developers have extensive knowledge about the Old Republic. Wishing big for their company and for 2024 need all the updates!

warhammer skulls just happened with only a minute of new space marine 2 gameplay being shown. No official release date either but its slated for 2023 and the new footage didnt show anything we havent seen so far. i am about to be devastated if it gets delayed and this kotor remake just gets stuck in development hell

No company in their right mind would drop an IP as big and financially profitable as KotOR. Anybody who thinks the company is just going to drop it just fails to see how much profit potential is in the franchise. The original KotOR made $44 million shortly after release. When accounting for inflation that is $66 million and that's just in the US alone. But you also have to remember that KotOR became more popular with time and continued to make money over the years and is still making money to this day through various ports and online sales. Even with the $100 million pricetag this game is going to be the equivalent of a modern AAA title. The average AAA title makes over $100 per user on the low end and with the kinds of sales KotOR is likely to get that means guaranteed profit.

I really like some features of KotOR 2, but in general prefer KotOR 1. If they bring in things from the second game like being able to choose which upgrades are used on items, your companions light/dark alignment being changeable through your choices, and stuff like that into the remake, I'm already on board.

Embracer wanted it out by 2023, which was unrealistic by what your sources at Aspyr said and a 2024 was way more realistic. But if the game wasn't up to Sony's standards, how is the game going to suddenly be ready, by the original realistic time frame Aspyr was hoping for? I'm sorry, but that doesn't make sense to me at all, if what Sony wanted was easily achievable by late 2023-Summer 2024, why would Aspyr leadership panic and start firing people left and right? And how could this new small studio with barely no experience (Saber Porto), even remotely achieve Sony's standards by then?

Was specifically Sony they saw a panoramic shot of a not so interesting scene and they disliked it. Luke confirmed on Stream and they have a sizeable stake in the input of the remake.

If they changed the game. Beyond a full remaster, adding back cut content, obviously graphics, and gameplay to be more like/an improvement on Kotor II and actual mod functionality and friendliness…so basically modern engine, but still full rpg mechanics, no hack and slash stupidness, no multiplayer. A real game. Of they don’t do that, I will spear head them being crucified and failing as a group. To the last man, for ruining something that is amazing.

I don't know, seeing what might be a grand return to the better Metal Gear Solid games is good enough news for me in the Showcase. I just hope the Master Collection is of the Integral/Substance/Subsistence (with the original two Metal Gear titles) releases of MGS1, MGS2, and MGS3 respectively, with a polished PC port to boot. Oh, and Insomniac Games' Spider-Man 2. 'Nuff said.

Soon? No, not even close. The only chance it has to exist is for the KOTOR remake to be successful. Then they would likely make a KOTOR 2 remake and see how that does and if it is also a financial success they might consider making a KOTOR 3. That would likely be over a decade away if it ever happens

Sorry if this is a sore subject but I feel compelled to ask; considering the past news from Aspyr and other bits of news "Are they changing the story?" Karpyshyn's books, KOTOR 2 based on this, and SWTOR later still based on both plus the bits so far that have been added to a couple of movies KOTOR has such a following it kinda has a niche the story has to fit. Too many changes and those others would no longer have such a comfortable continuance.

Maybe I'm jaded but.. I would have much prefer a Kotor 3 than a remake. New material, new characters, planets, music and the completion of the Revan saga but no... let's do the safe and most profitable thing. Kotor 3 is probably having champagne with Half-Life 3 somewhere, in the "Never gonna happen" land. Anyway, that's me 2 cents.
