KOTOR: Ridiculously overpowered melee build

A build, designed to take down Malak in a single turn. This is completely doable, provided the following two conditions are met:
1) You attack him from behind (damage bonus from Sneak Attack).
2) At least three of your attack rolls are within threat range (40% chance). Your threat rolls, on the other hand, will have a 100% success rate as long as your mainhand/offhand lightsabers have an attack of +37 or more.

CNS Strength Enhancer
Lightsaber (Mantle of the Force, Solari, Opila)
Lightsaber (Heart of the Guardian, Upari, Opila)

Advanced Jedi Defense
You can swap out either of the Opila crystals for a Sigil (1d8 energy with MotF/HotG) or Krayt Dragon Pearl (1d8 energy with HotG), but it won't make much of a difference. Do not upgrade your lightsabers with crystals that grant set damage bonuses as they are not multiplied by critical hits (Opila is an exception - it grants 2-12 massive criticals, which compensate for the fixed damage bonus).

Armored guardian can be fun when you are willing to give up a bunch of force powers (easier when your jedi just sucks in wis, char and fp anyway). In II i am playing a frikking tank guardian/marauder with duel perk and the available buffs (energy resist and force barriers, used under the skill to use health as part of the force cost)

Mathematically flurry is the worst combat feat chain for a Jedi (+25% dmg, power attack adds around 100% for dex builds, around 50% for strength. Crit adds around 80% for dex builds and almost 100% for str.

I remember the first time me and my school buddy played Kotor. He knew how to properly build a character, I had no idea. :D When we discussed the battle with Malak, I told him that I was trying to survive for one hour until I finally managed to beat him. Then he started bragging about how easy it was for him. My reaction to that was: "What do you think is the greater achievement? Defeating a boss that's weaker than you or defeating a boss who is much more stronger than you?" He thought about it for a moment, then said: "I see your point." :D

@@nanatoto5994 actually you don't need the implant at all, you can get the calrissian belt and those goggles, with your character having a minimum 6 repair to get it fully to 17. And I just had 8 intelligence

@@PhilipADitko You need to get to 17 before the Leviathan however and the +7 to all skill headpiece is only available after your last star map, making it useless for the HK repair check. 10 intelligence is a must for a Scoundrel/Guardian as you need to reach level 19 with 11 points into repair. +1 int Memory package and +5 Master Valor for +3 repair, then the Calrissian Utility Belt for +6 for 17 total.

Swoop racing, leaving no stone unturned when it came to looting and selling anything redundant to Suvam Tan (items sold to him are sold for 65% of their base cost). Suvam can also give you a discount if you beat him enough times at pazaak (not worthwhile).

@@starkiller1231 actually, it’s very worthwhile. He’ll lose to you you 10 times in total and you can bet up to 750 credits per game. Just save before each game and reload if you lose. If you have a good deck, it’s very easy to win, and you’ll get not only the discount on the best items in the game, which at the prices he sells make thousands of credits of difference, but you’ll also get 7500 credits. One of the best ways in the game to make money besides duping or cheating.

Malak's defense is 38. With an attack of +37 and above, your threat rolls will always hit him.

Did you use force powers throughout the play through or did you just critical strike your way through the game? And to use your sneak attack ability, did you run behind every enemy throughout the game or?

For the most part, in order to make the most use of my character's Sneak Attack, I would either use Jolee to debilitate enemies via Force powers or stun non-immune enemies with Critical Strike. Also, as your character grows stronger, non-debilitated enemies will eventually start dropping like flies merely from the massive damage from your multiple attack rolls + fairly frequent critical rolls.

@@starkiller1231 very true with testing kiting and jumping does not work but thats where stasis force ww crit strike and adhesive grenades come in after the initial jump however every time Malak eats a body he disengages with you allowing for another jump if you have a staff Saber and a correct amount of str you can repeat this until he runs out of body's the hard part is keeping speed and Valor up in between attacks

Nope, no graphical mods, just the UniWS fix and driver level 16x anisotropic filtering, as it beats in-game AF most of the time.

Nice calculations! But does Sneak Attack give bonus to critical strikes? I tried to one shot him but it seems impossible because "the extra damage does not multiplied in the case of a critical hit". You either have a critical bonus damage or sneak attack+rapid shot damage. However, I see this is possible with meelee weapon :)

Correct, Sneak Attack damage does not get multiplied on a critical hit. However, if Master Speed is active and at least two out of your four attack rolls fall within threat range (subsequent threat rolls will always be successful as long as your attack is >36), you'll bring his health down to nearly zero. If three of your attack rolls are within threat range, you'll one-shot him.

It doesn't really do much, you could always use Force heel for yourself. And two, he's trying to show off how powerful he is compared to Malik who's using the power of the star forge to fight him

@@nukeskyhawker261 It does do a lot. It heals all of your health *instantly*, just like it does for Malak. Using force drain uses less points than heal, and is more effective than healing in this case. Either way, canonically how this fight happened is through Revan besting Malak in saber comabt.

@@nncproductionsinc.4077 Dual wielding is sub-optimal in K1 in any case. Single for maximum defense, double bladed for damage. In K2, short in the off-hand is the way to go: you stack all damage in your main hand and use the off-hand to give yourself stat increases for the best results. You can get a maximum of 6 attacks per round IIRC by dual wielding+flurry+master speed+juyo stance, and only one of those will be done with the off-hand weapon.

@@penttikoivuniemi2146 in k2 you can go prestige guardian and get t4, t5, and t6 TWF so if you want to optimize for damage two longsabers is the way to go. Honestly if you buff strength to hell and back like you should when optimizing for damage (19+dominator gauntlets+strength enhancer belt+strength implant I believe you can get close to thirty strength and at that point the extra crystal slots are worth it.

It's honestly just a waste to have a 10 intelligence. Unless you're a completionist looking to repair hk47, I wouldn't do it as a scoundrel guardian, of even just a scoundrel for that matter. Do it as a scout, so as that repair is not a cross class skill. Instead do this as a scoundrel/guardian 15 Str(+5 Attribute points when leveling) 12 Dex 14 Con 8 Int 14 Wis 14 Chr

I hope the kotor remake story is about revan and not the same mmo rpg game with character making and choices and just better graphics and mechanics, unless we read comics or books we don't see the full story and potential of revan's character, and if this game gets a remake, it should make it canon, right? So we can see something different for revan and play more as him, or only as him, to make it better, and overpowered with our choices, but revan, not an OC. I love kotor don't get me wrong but i'm hoping for something different than just a remaster of graphics and mechanics with the same stories,character, and the best character not getting enough attention
