Switch version looks great but there is a couple of weird things which i don't know if it's a glitch or not. Some character's faces look really strange. Examples are: Dantooine. Just as you get into cortyard to the left from you is a farmer and his wife, farmer tells you a bit about mandalorian raiders and asks about council calling him to hearing. Thing is - his face looks like low settings on pc, Like it's stripped from any details compared to other face models in the game. There's also duelist named Ice in Taris cantina dueling ring. She is supoose to have blonde hair (red on xbox) white face with makeup but in Switch version she has kinda distorted face with a lot of dirt and i think a bit of blood, and also hair is dark brown. I thought that maybe it's intentional just because she is badass duelist BUT at the very first room in this Cantina there's NPC with EXACTLY SAME DISTORTED FACE. And a bit about farmer. On Tatooine there's a mining team captain, he and his crew are attacked by sand people and well captain's face is the same as farmer on Dantooine and it too looks like low settings pc version. Long story short - a couple of face models were ported with very noticeable issues. Those character's are npcs who you meet and then forget but still it kinda breaks immersion. Am i the only one who got these faces in Switch version?

In the Switch version some of the character face models are super blurry. Kebla Yurt is an example. It's not a perfect port and hope they patch at some point, but regardless I'm happy it's on the go other than the mobile version.

Hopefully they give the others a patch with these upgrades (minus the Large Battle Text Box).

Not the first time for widescreen on console, it has been on Nvidia Shield TV with controller support for like 6 years. That version also has updated textures etc that these versions are missing. Also it looks like they just ran the textures through a sharpening filter which doesn't necessarily look better in all cases, in some cases I prefer the smoother textures on Xbox.

I think this Switch version is a port of the mobile version, might be the reason for some of the issues you point out.

the combat mode text box isn't the only issue the Switch version has. there's also two problems with specific sounds. like enemy death cries and the dialogue that's said when you swap between Revan and your party members are muted for some reason.

@@FirestoneX that's the thing in this game the major bombshell is that you were playing as Revan all along even with hints being dropped by several characters. and canonically he's light sided in this game as far as end result goes.

@@FirestoneX this game is two years away from its 20th anniversary. so the only thing that makes my comment a spoiler is if those that read it never played the game before. but i imagine the likes came from gamers that played the game on the og Xbox or PC and Steam or even Android/ioS.

One thing to note - I'm playing my OG KOTOR copy on my series X right now. It doesn't actually play off the disc. The disc is used essentially as DRM. It still makes you run it off the SSD. That is great for load times, but the emulation isn't great and there are some glitches I have found playing it this way that were not present in the original afaik. Also the quick resume feature is super hit and miss. So if anyone plays it on their xbox, treat saving as if quick resume doesn't exist at all.

well it depends if you want to play as Kyle Katarn in Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, Jedi in training Jaden Korr, a clone wars commando , Anakin and the pod racing lineup from Episode 1 Phantom menace or Revan the prodigal Knight.

@@sandman8993 if you like old style RPGs Kotor is a must. I like the other star wars games that aspyr has ported. But if I was personally gonna pick one it would be Kotor. Such a great game with replayability.

@@sandman8993 I highly recommend KOTOR first. It's the definitive SW game even by today's standards in terms of story, exploration and characters. Also you get the most gameplay for your money's worth. Jedi Outcast/Jedi Academy are also a blast to start with, have fun stories and cool lightsaber action. Plus Jedi Academy game ties directly into a trilogy of SW books of the same name "Jedi Academy Trilogy" by Kevin J. Anderson.

Technically the Xbox Series X version is the Xbox One X enhanced version. But I still think you get that version on the Series X. Still, was looking for this comparison since the graphics on the Xbox are supposed to be in higher resolution and be 60fps. Just wondering how it holds up against the Switch version. I hope a new update can upgrade a few of the visuals at least. There is a lot of room for improvement. It's unfortunate they haven't updated the Xbox version to widescreen. Kotor II is still the only version that was. Extra note: That giant text block is indeed ported over from the mobile version. I remember it being on mobile. Hopefully that can be fixed. At least the mobile version isn't horrible like say the GTA PS2 games.

I find the Xbox graphics slightly more pleasing. The extra texture detail on Switch makes the game look even more dated and the bloom looks better on Xbox.

Its not a port from Xbox but a port from the Mobile Version. Hence all the issues.

I think it's a problem with it being a port optimised for mobile originally. Honestly it doesn't bother me in a game so old. It's gonna look and feel like a game from 2003 anyway. Considering the low price, the portability, the slightly sharper visuals, and the convenience of being able to play on another modern console, I think this port does what it needs to.

You can play this & its sequel on Android/IOS as well both have full controller support & if you follow online guides you can mod the android/IOS versions just like the PC versions the android/IOS versions just can't use the same audio mods as the pc versions from what I've heard. So I'd say you should also give comparing the android/IOS versions of the game to the switch version.

PC version is still the most optimal way to play. You can make it widescreen relatively easily too with a few fixes. Plus mod support. There is even a tiny cut content mod for the first KOTOR that restores a few cut things from the developer, such as the Black Vulkar living area on Taris, an extended scene on the Leviathan, meeting Deadeye Duncan on Manaan, several cut weapons, etc.

XBOX version runs via emulator with all its issues including frequently blurry textures and 4/3 aspect ratio. FYI, the Switch version was made from the original code according to ASPYR with enhancements including widescreen, cleaner textures, better models, better lighting, etc./ymmv

With a full remake coming, this is actually a perfectly serviceable port. Not everyone wants flawless remastering or remakes. This is a preservation of how the game was, and is much closer to playing it on PC than the previous console port. That's all Aspyr are doing with their Star Wars ports. I know revisiting old visuals and controls isn't for everyone, but for a lot of people that's where the nostalgia lies.

The Switch version is actually a port of the PC version, which is why it looks better than the Xbox version because that version had to make sacrifices in order to be able to play on the OG Xbox
