Kotor 1 and kotor 2 are the best one-two punch of video game and sequel. The first is a beautiful reintroduction to a very classic style of Star Wars stories with a great twist. The second being an amazing philosophical exploration and deconstruction.

@@joebrown6778 no he's right, turn-based rpgs feel completely different from Kotors combat. It's slower paced action than today's arpgs but it's not stop and go like classic turn based games. It feels way more like a back and forth combat between characters, and multiple characters can attack at once.
@joebrown67782 жыл бұрын
@@Naraku-no-Hana-WE You don't attack through button presses in Origins or this. Like they said, you cue up your actions (be it attack, magic, items or w.e) and you wait for your actions to play out...with you and your opponent taking turns based on speed stats. Now I could be remembering that wrong, but that's pretty much turn based. The only thing missing from it is that the action isn't paused but that's absolutely an option if memory serves...but the action isn't paused in older Final Fantasy games either and I think you'd be hard pressed to convince a gamer that doesn't like turn based combat that games that play that kind of way aren't essentially turn based in nature

lol I just started a new playthrough of KOTOR 1 around 16 hours ago... guess our KOTOR cravings were synced up EDIT: just wanted to point out one thing regarding vibroblades. One big reason why vibroblades are so widely spread in the game is because the sith found a technology that allowed them to create energy shields for their soldiers, which was later copied by the republic. Both sides rely on these shields really heavily to gain an edge in combat, it negates/deflects both blaster shots and lightsaber attacks, so vibroblades and staves are efficient weapons to use against people. If my memory servers me right this was explained in Taris by one of the NPCs, but I can't recall who exactly.

Did you know that because your choices influence the game there are hundreds of ways to complete the game and people are still trying to find hidden options and pathways in the game. I have 900 hours played including KOTOR 2 and I still find things I have missed and options I didn't know existed before. Also if you do a neutral play-threw the dialogue is interesting.

It's my favorite game of all time, I'm so happy I got to play it as a kid. It was the first RPG I ever played and I loved it, even with the combat being not the greatest. But the characters, the story, the worlds, the music, and the freedom of choices you had going through the game was/is amazing. The fact that people were waiting for the remake that we have no idea when is coming out or even how good of a game it's going to be is ridiculous, especially when you can get the original at such a good price. I do hope that the remake eventually comes out and isn't forgotten about, we've been waiting for a new KOTOR game for so long.

Gotta disagree with Matty for once. You don’t have to just use the Jedi. Each party member is worth using at any time. Canderous and Zalbaar can output the most melee damage out of any party members. T3 is really the only useless/utility companion. He’s not great for combat but versatile for class skills like security, computer use, and demolitions.

If you want a challenging but fun as hell playthrough, play as a gunslinger bounty hunter type. No lightsabers, no force powers, just blasters, armor, solo mode turned on as often as permitted. By the time I made it to the Rakatan world, I was a god with a heavy blaser rifle and demolitions. Stat distribution and character class are crucial for these harder builds. I would love to see options like this expanded on in the remake if we ever get it at this point. I keep the faith.

KoTOR is not only the greatest RPG ever made, but also the greatest Star Wars game ever made! Matty, you are not alone! Unfortunately for every other RPG that’s ever been made, or will be; KoTOR is the measuring stick to which I compare them all to. Everything about the game is amazing! I’ve played through the entire story 7 times (4 light side/3 dark) over the years and I’m constantly surprised to see/notice something new! This game, for me anyways represents what games have lost in the last 10 yrs. Fantastic storytelling, true character development, deep & thorough RPG elements & a great combat system (for its time). So many games attempt what BioWare got right & fail miserably. I’m with you, anyone who hasn’t had the sheer joy of playing this game is honestly missing out.

On strength of Kotor bought K2 TSL a few months later. K1/2 were in top rotation of games along with HL2 series till ME in 2009

Me being 13 at the time of KOTOR's release I was blown away at how good the storyline was and how rich the environments were at the time. BioWare used to be one of my favourite game developers before EA made it's acquisition with them and then things went rock-bottom. I've played this game quite a few times and I never get tired of it because in my opinion BioWare were way ahead of their time with this one. Since it's turning 20 years old this year we definitely should hear some more news about the remake that's coming out hopefully in the next few years 🤞🏻

I've been playing this on and off since within a year of its release - both with mods and without mods. It has aged a bit in level design, but without this and 'The Elder Scrolls Morrowind' I might not have picked up 'Mass Effect'. You can see the effect KotOR's had on that game. I like the overall story of 2, but 1 is solid. I just watched MATN (for those who know him) play this game in a very different way than a lot of people do, and it still holds up. Going with ultra defense build, Scoundrel for 7 levels to get Sneak IV. could have stopped at level 6 when improved scoundrel's luck is unlocked (+4 AC). Jedi Guardian for extra feats dueling and implants so i can boost dex and AC. Not to mention Sneak attack IV kicks in when using the force jump attack. lightside so i can use circlet of saresh (+5 wisdom, good for crowd control saves) once i get master sense, with force armor active, I'll be at defense 40. probably higher depending on additional drops or bought items to boost dex.
