The fix is simple: make them loot only, they only spawn in raider/boss guarded areas. On top of that, they should require batteries, and I bet IRL they drain a lot of power, so battery life should last less than a raid, so people using them are forced to turn them off or change batteries mid raid.

Really? They're almost non existent for a couple months after a wipe. They have a high price, and drawbacks to using them. They don't make you invincible. They absolutely give you a sighting advantage, no doubt, but you pay for that. Much like you pay for the advantage of armor, helmets and faceshields, better weapons, better ammo. Larger price tends to come with the greater advantage. I go for days and days without coming across them still. It's your opinion and I respect it, I just hate to see someone leave over something that seems overblown

They need to make thermal scopes more expensive. Plus add some kind of clothes which help avoid you showing up on thermal. Make the cloths timed based as it slowly warms up to skin temperature.

I think the ARMA Series handles thermals the best. While they were OP, you could get specific clothing to mask a majority of your body. I found it to make the difference back then.

Thermals ain't broken, it's still beta ( well, honestly more like alpha but whatever ), they will have battery consumption in the future and hopefully become more pricey, but I adore the fact how powerful they are, just like in RL, and this game is all about realism. Right now most features are for testing purposes, everything is more likely about to change in the future, becoming more realistic, hardcore, rare and expensive. Just like with the weight system, did people actually think that EFT will stay how it has been before the major weight system overhaul? Of course not, it was just for testing and because certain features weren't fully ready to be introduced.

I don't run anything but Reap-IRs and I have for months. They're incredibly OP. They are WAY too cheap. Currently they can pay for themselves in a single raid easily, even after the recent increase to 500k. Eventually you can't even play without using them because you feel so vulnerable. They become a real crutch. My survival rate went up to over 50% so fast after I started using them all the time and it would still be going up if I still played this patch. Lol. I think they should just remove them completely, honestly. They're cool but we don't really need them from a gameplay standpoint and it would be a lot of work to make them be balanced. They could add them later if they want to implement the complex systems needed to stop them being overpowered. The way it looks on interchange is pretty much how it should look all the time. If they were really rare and only worked in certain weather conditions, like when the environment wasn't too hot or too cold It wouldn't be so bad but there is no complex weather or temperature mechanics in the game currently. They should be hindered by glass a bit. They should require batteries. They've talked about thermal blocking clothing and such but I don't see it being a real solution to how they are currently.

Thermals should be expensive yes. But also after seeing battery symbol on the flir when aiming, im kind of expecting that they implement batteries and such to the game. Also expecting the battery time to be kind of trash so you will have to take with you batteries into the raid so you can use the thermal all the time.

Play offline with scavs and run around the maps like a madman. Without map knowledge you will never feel safe to move freely, so that is the essential thing to learn. Start with Customs since most of the early quests are on this map :)

make thermals as a limited spawn only. they can only be like 250 thermals at a time in the whole game, and they only respawn when the number drops below 100. Prices should be way above 1mil.
