My sensei's sensei, Dr. Sachio Ashida. He passed away in 2009 and I started Judo in 2017 so never got a chance to meet him. Look how he effortlessly does it too kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIm1mXuqdp6hbNk

What a blessing to be able to share the mat with a 9th degree in Judo, have that Kudan be your Father and have him demonstrate his technique on you. I loved the nervous laugh in the middle of explanation as the off balance made your body move. What great hand work at 80+. You are truly blessed.

I was doing push/pull drills with a bigger, higher belt at Kano but I was getting rag-dolled, he wasn't letting me work. I put my fist against his chin and the drill became more even lol. He got pissed but I told him I learned the technique from Sensei Shintaro. He couldn't say much after that but told me the old fist in the jaw technique isn't for drills lol.
@nicocontreras53664 жыл бұрын
Well he´s right but also in drills uke has to cooperate so you were right too haha-

If it was a sparring-like drill, it raises the question of how can you learn to use a technique if you're not even allowed to use it in sparring. Still, I would recommend not pissing off your training partners lol. I had a guy that got mad at me for using my fist to cross-face. He thought I was doing it for pain compliance instead of body mechanics. In reality it's the same as a shoulder but you can do it with more posture. So I just started doing it with an open hand instead... it's the same thing but doesn't look as aggressive, lol.

To the Higashi's, father and son. Thank you !! We are deeply endebted to you for the thousands of hours you sacrificed to develop your art. For all the time and energy you spent exploring and expanding the arts. To you we are grateful. Your efforts have changed the life of hundreds, maybe thousands, of students, and for the better. It is we who need thank you. I am very grateful. With only a few words of insight Shintaro opened my eyes after many years of struggling to understand some basics of Shuai Jiao. And now, finally, my art begins to bare fruit, thanks to your teachings. We are honored to know your family. Inspired by your devotion. And grateful to study with you. It is my sincere wish that Satori reveals itself unto you. On behalf of my students, and myself, please accept our thanks. Remove the darkness. Return the light. Renew the Art.
