please like share and subscribe! This is my kouchi gari. There are two kinds. Traditional kouchi and the kouchi makikomi. Both pretty great. Which do you like better?

That half step in the beginning is great..... i like that you explain the importance of tightness in the grip. Once again showing your expertise.

One of my favorite techniques. Judo is one of the few sports that you can practice with your eyes closed.

Hello Mr. Shintaro; congratulations on these instructional videos, they are very rich in detail!! Could you make some vídeos about what to do when the opponent is in the bent back position, stiffened arms etc? And maybe how to apply a thrown if the opponent's intention is to pull guard, as well... These situations are very common in bjj and a larger relative number of your viewers probably trains bjj/judo and has this doubt, including me.
@Shigashi844 жыл бұрын
The principles are essentially the same. But when the opponent's hips are back, your primary set up to break their position should be the snap down. Important if they are lower than you to control sleeve so they cant shoot in. Will definitely do a video like that for you. Thanks for watching.

@@Shigashi84 Thank you! As a master said one day in a class, how do you expect to fight on the ground if you don't know how to take your opponent to the ground! Keep doing this great work!

Fist into the jaw style kouchi...For better kuzushi lol
@nicocontreras53664 жыл бұрын
I love your videos but when you´re showing the kouchi -ouchi at the end those square captures don´t let see well. I love kouchi and was taught similar to your demostration, kind of punching the jaw and putting a barrier in the chest with tsurite hand or uke will keep advancing and nothing will happen.
@Shigashi844 жыл бұрын
I thought I added an extra few seconds for the squares to exist. I guess I am still learning some of this stuff. Sorry about that. This Kouchi is allll about timing. Like stepping on a banana peel. If its perfect, then you fall.

You can do the same from an underhook, some people do it from overhooks and even from the collar tie! (That's crazy tbh)
