Guitars Here: rockettpedals....
Rockett Audio: rockettpedals....
Here at Rockett we are huge fans of the 80's shred guitars and nobody built them better than Grover. Check out this video to hear stories you have never heard before about Jackson, Charvel and the history of both companies.
Our mission with the Rockett Guitars was to build guitars that played like the original San Dimas era Charvel/Jackson guitars but with the look and feel of a vintage instrument. We have woven in a few trick with a super switch allowing you to split your Humbucker or permanently engage your Humbucker split or not. This gives you just about every sound you could need on stage or in studio with unbelievable resonance and playability.

I'll say one thing, what he is saying about music in general, luck, etc. It is very true and simple shifts and innovations in sound made people stars also by having the idea first. You can't make it big using some one else gimmick when everyone knows it's not your gimmick. You may still be successful but not as much the original. Joe Walsh was an innovator. He and Bob Heil, both ham radio guys figured out the talk box. Rocky Mountain Way was Joes first big hit and then Frampton did take it to another level. Playing shouldn't be about how fast you can play. Speed is great but melody, hooks and cool riffs is where rock will always be. and of course a good lyric. Subject matter can make a big difference depending on what is going on in pop culture.

Back in 1982 my guitar teacher who was from San Diego but now lived in SW Florida put down a $300 deposit on a custom built maple strat body with a maple neck a huge frets. The total was like $950. My guitar teacher moved and gave me his deposit receipt and called Grover and said to send the guitar to me upon completion and payment. So I got a custom built Grover Jackson built Charvel labeled (made in the USA on the headstock ) for $650...which was a lot of money for a guitar back then. I've been playing guitar and other instruments for over 40 years now and to this day nothing comes close to what they shipped me. It played with the lowest action without any fret buzz of anything since....at any price !

$5,000 😳 working man’s guitar or a guitar for the 1%er’s? Even if all the parts like the Floyd and the wood to build it cost $1,000, and $1,000 to pay employees to build it, $1,000 for marketing. And a$1,000 profit for each guitar. That’s $4,000. His name is big but it’s not $5,000 big. He’s not Leo Fender for crying out loud

The funny thing being that Fender became famous because he designed a guitar that he could make for peanuts. Cheap. The strat is a cheap guitar to build. He used local lumber, made everything just right so that the lumber was used as economically as possible. They are cheap factory instruments.

Also, Grover comes across as pretty likeable and humble, but I am STUNNED at how little knowledge either of these guys seem to have of the current market. Neither of them seem to be aware that yes, there IS still a market for the types of guitars that Jackson is known for. And does the guy from J. Rockett SERIOUSLY think that anything Nuno put out recently is going to spawn a new generation of kids who want to shred? (As great as Nuno is.) Newsflash: there already are plenty of young players out there shredding. Unfortunately, too many of those who were young in the '80's (including well-regarded people in the industry) are clueless about the current market. There are plenty of guitar players playing Jackson-style guitars and many of them are in wold touring bands. But a lot of people in the industry like these guys don't seem to even realize that these players exist. If there truly wasn't a market for guitars with pointy headstocks, Fender wouldn't still be cranking out guitars using the Jackson and Charvel brand names- they would have mothballed them. Hate to say this on here, but for an example of the market awareness that seems to be lacking here, look no further than the "mega shred" video featured on the Jackson Guitars KZbin homepage.

Wayne Charvel had ZERO to do with building and designing the iconic Charvel guitars. He sold and left the company in 1978 so all those great guitars were made when wayne was long gone from the company. I have always given full credit to Grover Jackson and his employee's for the reason why i loved Charvel's back in 1980-1984. The best guitar i ever owned was a 1982 San Dimas in white with a matching white headstock(strat head). Mike Eldred did the neck and it played like a dream. Charvel has not been the same since Grover left. The IMC owned made in Japan Charvels are NOT real Charvel's! Play a older USA made one(1979-84) and you will see what i am talking about! I also love the old Jackson Soloist guitars! I can understand why Jeff Beck was so impressed by them! 😁

Don't hate me. No, in fact do hate me. Some years ago, looking for something a bit different (and admittedly falling for marketing spiel) I purchased a GJ2 ( Grover's comeback at the time?) Tele style guitar with, I think it was called "Habanero" pups, a few years ago (pre pandemic). For a considerable amount of money. Because it has his name attached I guess. It was a very disappointing guitar for the money (no balance between neck P90 and bridge single coil - neck finish was..well, not finished.) It was by no means irredeemable, but I had told sell it for £900, having paid nearly £2K. Fast forward to "Friedman Guitars", I purchased one from Peach guitars in UK (and I like Peach, but their uncritical promotion of the range has made me revaluate this) This was a significantly better instrument ( I guess Grover Jackson learned from GJ2's fate....but then again, I thought he was meant to know about guitars to begin with?). But again, not £2.5 UK worth. Just..not, nowhere near. It had that 'partscaster' feel to it, albeit with quality parts. Sold it at a significant loss. Fine, it's a new brand, but...isn't the reason we are being asked to invest in these based on the rep of the builder/ designer? We all have to make our way in this world and I judge no person for trying. But I can't shake the image of Grover Jackson literally driving around California with a bunch of builds in his boot that need to compete against the like of K-Line, LSL..oh yeah, and Fender, and having nothing but his 'legendary name' to trade on. And then asking for....£$£$ how much...? Here's a thought Grover: If you are so confident in your ability and heritage, try using that expertise to produce a range that is affordable and has quality and consistency in production. Start from there, and then build up to asking big sums of money for guitars that no one can be confident has the value and quality other than what you assert they do. My experience of your guitars is that they really don't. Still love my Blue Note J.R.!

I’m sure that they are fine, even excellent guitars. But $5000 is excessive for a relic’d Strat w/ a pickguard. Seriously, at this price point you could actually buy a vintage Charvel or Jackson guitar. There are a lot of options, for a brand new guitar, built to the same quality as these for A. LOT. less money. Tone deaf pricing and value. (Pun intended). There’s no nice way to say this: that headstock is Fugly. Hard pass.

I'm sure the advent and impact of Randy Rhoads and that body design was a plus for Jackson, then and now. I would mix it up with a couple base pattern references on the relic work to keep them from looking too cookie cutter, like you could order a pattern six or pattern three, etc.

Never been a fan of the relic look. Still not. Hope you'll create an undamaged looking budget line of guitars for under $500, for us play at home types.

Not hot pink or wild graphics, but my main Floyd Rose guitars are still Jackson Rhoads and Warriors. Most with reverse pointy headstocks. Mostly, black, white and even one red.

@@eddiejr540 👍 $5K is a big ask for a "super strat" especially from a relatively unknown guitar brand(compared to Charvel ,Ibanez or ESP) I can get a Custom Shop Charvel built to my spec's for $5K! They also make the "Nitro series" through TMZ that is a dead on clone of a old Pre pro Charvel for that price.

Nope, probably play great and feel great as well, but you can literally get the same for less than half

So someone else builds your guitars, then you over charge 5k for a bolt on. Try Luxetone or Chubtone. At least they build their own guitars.

I have a Charvel tele style, double humbucker, floyd, USA made. It is such a versatile guitar, it could be used for any style. I’ve been playing for over 30 years, bought & sold a fair few guitars over years. This is 1 I’ll never sell.

AND: will there be lefthand models? These guitars look amazing, for some time i ve been looking around for a fender stat from the custom shop, but i am still struggling to spend 5500+ bucks for a lefthand Team built... So.... please do not forget us lefties, even if the price might be a bit higher, there are MANY of us out there. And in the recent past more and more lefties do not want to learn on a right hand guitar which was the norm 10 -15 years ago..Thank you!
