Community partners help fill gaps as county prepares for more psychiatric holds

San Diego County officials say they expect an increase in mental health holds this year over last. That’s because an updated California law now allows involuntary psychiatric holds for people with severe substance use disorders. KPBS Health Reporter Heidi De Marco says the county is working with community partners to expand treatment options.
