Minimum wage violations rise in major California cities, including San Diego

Minimum wage in California is $16 dollars an hour, and in the city of San Diego, it’s $16.85. But a new study found a rise in minimum wage violations in major cities in California. KPBS reporter Tania Thorne says San Diego was one of them.

Keep raising minimum wage and businesses have to start hiring undocumented staff to compete with Taco Stands and hot dog stands that do cash only and don't pay taxes.

@@BootyWarrior80892 So you want business to close? Fine, those workers are out of work. It's even worse for low value workers, like teens. Teen jobs have disappeared because teens are not worth $16/hour. Teens are so lackluster, that they are only worth $8/hour.

In CA if you work more then 5 hours, by law your employer is required to give you a meal break so you can eat your lunch or go get lunch (not provide you with food) otherwise they can face huge fines & risk lawsuits. You're also entitled to two personal breaks in an 8 hour period usually between 10-15 minutes long. But i'd like more details, did his manager on site tell him he wasn't allowed to go on lunch or breaks? Or did he assume that because no one told him to take them that he was just supposed to continue to work? Most companies tell you on day one..your break time is at this time & this time & your lunch is at this time...and never really address it again cause your an adult and they shouldn't have to remind you to go on them.
