I'm in mourning today. Rest in Peace. He was a filmmaker and a showman.

41:30 - $100,000 in debt and 21 years old, but he's made a distribution company and a film, as opposed to having a film school BFA and _nothing else._ Gee, if I had a time machine...

If you have a story, some talent visa vi actors and an ipad, you can make a film. But you gotta do it.

Hugh-John Fleming My point was that I wish I had a film to sell _before_ I went into debt, hehe.

+Matthew Ward I would say if you have been watching films for the last 25 years, and the curve they have taken, there is room- so much room for small quality product now. There is more outlet for said product as well. Big budget cartoons rule the roost but good stories, like Gone Girl and Juno will alway float to the top.
@hugh-johnfleming2899 жыл бұрын
+Matthew Ward Maybe you have seen 'Blue Ruin.' Amazing film. It's on Netflix and it cost nothing and was made by nobodies. Just sayin'.

If Julia Roberts really did in fact audition for the role in Ghostbusters then that wasn't after Mystic Pizza. Mystic Pizza is 1988. She only had an uncredited role before that I believe in 1987. Ghostbusters was shot in late 1983. Not to mention that Julia was 15-16 around that time. So I'm pretty sure that's bullshit. I've heard him say this anecdote in other interviews too, don't know why he keeps mentioning it when it's either complete BS on his part or just a bad memory thing.
@JetPackDino9 жыл бұрын
gocsa Exactly. I just finished watching a Reitman interview on Netflix where he claimed to have auditioned Julia Roberts for Ghostbusters. He must not be too sharp mentally anymore. Roberts would have only been 15. So odd that he keeps repeating it... You'd think he'd have a friend who could help straighten him out. Oh well. Memory is a tricky thing.

gocsa He could be talking about Ghostbusters II?
@elroytheking20176 жыл бұрын
I felt exactly the same thing. Maybe it was for TWINS.
@jjc734 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure he got confused. He said he saw "Mystic Pizza" which was 1988 (same year as "Twins") so I'm actually thinking that it might have been for the Penelope Ann Miller role in "Kindergarten Cop."
@bluemacaskillindependentfi99242 жыл бұрын
actually she filmed Satisfaction in 1986/87 so she would have been around auditioning for everything
