Paget is so candid and open and curious and kind, I love her always. She and MEJ are just wonderful in conversation; since they're already friends it is nice to have the shortcut of being genuinely interested, but also the cheat of a talk show to ask questions friends wouldn't usually bring up. They manage to do this without making the entire conversation a dry interrogation or cheesy marketing plug. On the contrary, they are both charming and funny... as they usually are. Marc Evan Jackson is just the best. He's worked on a lot of great films/TV shows and done some very interesting things offscreen but seems to find Paget's (and our) interest a little baffling. He is unassuming and self-deprecating, but not bitter or in a compliment-seeking way--rather, he seems mildly surprised at how well thought of he is. (Being enthusiastic about loving boating and Stargate and cats and bowties and Detroit and helping young people is cool. Keep loving that stuff that you love.) His anticipation for Paget to finish her sentences/questions is also hilarious. And OF COURSE he is married to a veterinarian named Beth. It couldn't be any other way. Cats! Of course cats! ALSO THEY ARE ANSWERING MY QUESTION WHAT THE WHAT my name is "aunty podes" because people kept mispronouncing "antipodes". Wait they aren't answering my question? What did I ask. YAY they got it! That was a lot of suspense for such an innocuous question. And I didn't realize before the MEJ didn't like to read or I wouldn't have asked. So. YAY NARNIA! AND DR SEUSS. I think books are important. And radio shows and television, but books were my first love, so thats why I asked. Thanks for answering:) Things I am going to look up after this podcast: other KPCS episodes (this is the first one I've seen & I only came because of TAH) the Detroit Creativity Project favorite ThrillingAdv eps of Beyond Belief and Sparks Nevada 2013 NerdHQ panel for TAH Who down-voted this video?! I hope they step on a lego.

10 years late on this, but this is so precious, i was waiting for this since seeing Paget's interview and it did not let me down. I'm a huge fan of this format, laid back conversation between two actors whose work i admire a lot. Paget is marvelous and Marc is also a lot of fun!! Thanks for this!

I love the guest hosts. I love Kevin too, but it´s even better to know that he cares enough to put an episode even being absent! That is what the Internet appreciates! That is what KZbin viewers like! Content! Plentiful, regular, reliable CONTENT! You´re doing the right thing mister Pollak!

Best KPCS I've ever watched! 1) Nobody is wearing a hat!!! 2) Hostess doesn't interrupt the guest. UNFORTUNATELY, other people in this studio do not have the discipline of not interrupting that the hostess has, and they are quite distracting.

I'm a big fan of the Kevin Pollak Chat Show. I normally listen to the mp3 version, but I couldn't resist getting to watch both Sadie Doyle and Sparks Nevada. When Kevin is traveling again in the future, I'd love to hear Paul F. Tompkins do an interview. I know Paul has his own plethora of shows, but to the best of my knowledge he doesn't currently do a long form interview apart from the Dead Authors podcast. Any chance of adding some more Thrilling Adventure players and getting Mark Gagliardi on the show? If Frank Doyle interviewed Croach the Tracker, it would oddly complete the TAH mashup.

I'm a janitor at a university. When I come back from vacation, when someone else has filled the dispensers in the restrooms, it's more often than not I find the TP rolls feeding backwards. It also happens when a dispenser runs out of paper and someone takes it upon themselves to fill it. The dispensers are even designed with feeding the TP over the top, not out from underneath, and people do it backwards, anyway. Most of the dispensers have been broken, too, out of frustration with the design. Never understood it. I did start to pay attention to it as a small child who couldn't reach the TP from the toilet, and found the over-the-top feed inches closer and reachable. :p

With reference to the discussion around 01:20:00 onwards: Step 1: People who think they *may* have mental health problems nervously ask their general practioner, who may or may not refer them to a mental health therapist. Step 2: People who have been to a mental health therapist and found it to be *maybe* slightly helpful, but not really as helpful as they hoped, will probably go to another mental health therapist. Step 3: People who have been to 2, 3 or 4 mental health therapists and found all of them frustrating, will start studying mental health on their own time... Step 4: People who've been studying mental health on their own time for quite a while, and *still* not found out what the hell's wrong with themselves, will probably (a) commit themselves to a career in mental health research, or (b) commit themselves to a career as a mental health therapist (in the hopes of someday figuring out what all those other therapists were doing wrong!), or (c) become axe murderers, or some other crazy shit (N.B. LEGAL DISCLAIMER: This may not actually be true!) - Signed, someone currently at Step 3. =:o}

When I first started listening to The Thrilling Adventure hour I would have sworn that Sparks Nevada was voiced by Will Arnett. Seriously... close your eyes and listen... you can hear it right.
@KyleSfhandyman10 жыл бұрын
I think MEJ sounds exactly like Dick Cavett. Sparks is exaggerated in sort of the same way Will Arnett exaggerates Gob Bluth. Who I think sounds like Will Arnett is Kyle Dunnigan from Professor Blastoff. I can't help but picture Will Arnett when listening to Kyle. I have to force myself to picture Kyle but it flips back over to Will the second I stop trying.

My family has usually had one cat or another over the years. I am used to having the paper under, I suppose. I may keep up the habit, living alone, or may not even pay attention to it. The new roll might even sit upright on something for a while. Is this question on the special poll we are being asked to take?

I think a lot of people just don't pay attention to which way they put the toilet roll... I was staying with a buddy of mine who had the paper running down the wall and when I asked him about it he just looked at me like I was crazy and said "I don't measure anything, I just put it on the roller!" From that point, I didn't feel bad about turning them around when at his house..
