I actually found these swabs on Amazon a few weeks ago & got a 200 pack for like $7. They also have a longer microfiber tip which is less likely to fall off. Falsely stating "Made in the USA" is very wrong and doing it "by mistake" is extremely unlikely. This is a fair and just criticism to put out there. And it's very fair and intelligent to also question the source and claims on their other products and their overall business ethic. Who wants to buy from people caught trying to deceive customers? It's not about money/pricing, it's about being able to trust that what's being sold is what they say it is. Trust is priceless.

I don't use any type of lube on any of my knives. Why? Because lube attracts lint, dust, and dirt which ultimately causes poor action. Keep the knife dry, free from debris using canned air, and there won't be a need to disassemble and clean them. If you must use lube, but a quart of 10 or 10w30 synthetic motor oil for about $8. If it's good enough in my engine, it's good enough for a knife.

That’s the beauty of the internet . You can always find things for so much cheaper than others sell them . The prices for those are all over the place on Amazon too . But if you think it’s wrong to buy a product and sell it at a hugely inflated rate then you may want to quit buying anything from anybody because that’s how vendor / reseller relationships work . I can guarantee you that those $7 for 500 pieces probably cost the reseller less than $1 per 500 . That’s how business work and I see markups higher than that at the business I work at on a daily basis . Not to mention that just because you can get them for that price on Amazon definitely doesn’t mean that KPL’s vendor sells them to them that cheap . I’m not trying to defend KPL because I could care less if people buy from them or not . I also don’t see the need for those swabs in the first place . Just saying that’s how business works ..

These kind of swabs have been around for a long time and in a capitalist market it’s on the buyer to do their research and be informed on what they are buying. KPL as a business can charge what they want and the consumer is who decides if that product is successful with their purchases. Also I don’t believe KPL has claimed in any way that they are manufacturing them or that they invented them. I think if there’s someone at all to point a finger at, it would be all the channels who took KPL on as a sponsor and are promoting them as if there isn’t any alternative available to their viewers. Which again, it’s the responsibility of someone taking on a sponsor to know what they are pushing and if they are really doing right by their followers or simply participating in a money grab.
@bladesandedc2 жыл бұрын
KPL claimed they were made in the USA until i confronted them. My DM's with them were screen shot and put on my Instagram account. Since that time they have removed the made in the USA logo from the 50 pack, but for some reason left that logo on the smaller pack and the kits they sell which include them. KPL are con artists who are using the American flag to profit off Chinese goods. I am 99% sure their lubricant is also Chinese made and just bottled in Texas, but I am still doing my due diligence to prove that. I agree it is up to the consumer to do their research, but it is fraud to claim something is made in the USA which you are buying from China. As for the channels who are sponsored by KPL and remaining silent, they are grifters IMO. A few of those channels confronted me after I put all this out on KZbin and Instagram and accused me of doing it for clicks.

Hey! Thought we’d respond here directly! We are just trying to curate useful stuff for the knife community - this isn’t a moneymaker for us or a mainline product. Our price represents what it cost us to get the product shipped over here in bulk, pay customs, get it counted, packaged all by hand and then advertised. When we first found the swabs they were not really available anywhere in the US at reasonable prices that we could find, but it appears that has changed! I can’t imagine how this Amazon seller is making these available at those prices without bypassing customs, but good for them - get them where you can at the best price you can - they’re super useful.

KPL, aka Ryan, and his team of lawyers are showing themselves to be complete scumbags. They sent a cease and desist letter to Gunny Juice, trying to bully him through the use of lawyers because he has a “similar” bottle, yet here they are repackaging something already being sold but at greater than 1000% profit. I’m sure he doesn’t make any profit from these swabs just like his comment said. If you ask Ryan, even though he’s selling them at 1000% the price of his nearest competitor, it’s practically a form of community service. What if Pepsi, Coke, or Budweiser sent cease and desist letters to all other beverage companies because everyone’s aluminum cans appear “similar”. Of course it’s infringement of my hard earned “trade dress”, your aluminum cans are also cylindrical, and they contain the exact same amount of ounces by volume. Those are crucial components of my “trade dress”. Change your product at once and start selling it by the gallon!! I have the 12oz can trade dressed from this day forward. What other market forces is KPL and his lawyers attempting to give themselves dominion over besides being able to determine what can or can’t be contained in any particular bottle that’s being sold by any such producers of said bottles. It’s just stupid, would never hold in court, and just shows KPL’s true colors. I have a bottle of KPL 15-weight that’s no longer wanted. Trash. Will never buy from KPL again. What a scumbag!!

It bothers me I'm not gonna say it doesn't but unfortunately these day's find a company that doesn't repackage. I've learned many companies including outside the knife community does this also. Is it right NO can we stop it NO! Just do you're research is my opinion and buy the bigger deal. It's like another company I've seen some false claims from is EF best know for budget friendly knives on Amazon claiming D2 steel when it's actually been found out it's a far less quality then D2 tool steel. I wrote EF as the name because it's some long half the alphabet name. But anyone who has purchased from them I'm sure you're gonna know who it is based of my EF. I don't use those little swabs but the lube does work great and pretty much exactly as described for each version. But i agree can it be found for cheaper makes you wonder. One thing I've also learned is it's hard finding good maintenance stuff specifically for folding knives. Flitz makes some good polish but i haven't seen any oil's for pivot points etc from them. And Tuff glide is nice but again kinda expensive for such a small tube of it just like kpl oil's it's what like 13 too 15ml bottles!?! Can we buy these at another company in larger amounts? I know I'd like too know and I'm sure mant other's would also. Now yes you can use mineral oil and it's cheap but i do notice a difference from using that and using kpl original so yeah I'd rather the kpl or tuff glide etc over mineral oil. You can buy little empty bottles with needle point applicators so if we can find the same oil in these other brands for cheaper and bigger bottles we can use those needle bottles for applications. Because let's face it besides the fact that kpl oil does work well it's that needle that we all love and the ease it made for us too get the oil where we want pretty accurately.
