I've got all of these, plus a whole bunch more. I've been experimenting with all kinds of lubes and oils for years now and I can barely tell the difference between them. I find KPL to be overpriced and it underperforms, so I steer clear of that these days. The best bang for your buck is Pro-Shot Zero Friction and Hoppes #9 - both work really well, lasts ages and both made in the USA. I recommend either of those to everyone I know in the knife and pew world. As for Tuf-Glide... it's a dry lube, so you should only really use that stuff on knives with washers. It doesn't seem to play well with bearings I've found, but it does work good on the detent. So, I personally use a dab of Pro-Shot or Hoppes #9 on the pivot/washers/bearings, and use a dab of Tuf-Glide on the detent and you're set. But really, you could use olive oil and not tell the difference lol

While I've delved into lubes over the years, and decades, on lubes(no jokes to be made), I've only in the last year been getting into pocket knife ones. I do like the nano heavier weight when the knife is dismantled, the lighter weights are fine for on the go or for a friend's knife they don't take care of: several of my friends carry a pocket knife, but none of them(yet) are knife people. KPL... Bought them once but haven't really used them more than a couple times: just haven't been the best option at my disposal. Thanks for your comments. 🤘🏼✌🏽

Tuff glide is for corrosion resistance i use it on all my 1095 fixed blades or blades with less stainless steels. I use gunny glide it works well for me. Kpl gums up if you dont use it for a while. I got 400 swabs like that for like 9$

Have knives that will sit for months without use. Tuff glide didn’t seem to keep and I had to reapply when the knife was carried months later. Switched to 10WNano oil and those same knives feel just as good as the day I lubricated them. I have noticed the need to reapply on the detent ball every once in awhile, but pretty sure I just need to go with a heavier oil there.

Glad I haven't bought any of those pricey oils so far. Just using plain silicone oil and it's been fine so far. Thanks for testing and giving your thoughts. When I finally do need to buy oil, it'll definitely give me something to think about.

Great comparison and thanks for your honesty. I will not be buying KPL because i find it hard to believe it was a mere oversight. As for the Tuf-Glide applicator, once depleted i would refill the pen with Pro-Shot and have the best of both worlds.

I'm a year old new knife nut. Haven't tried but one it's called Breakthrough all in one. It's a 5 weight oil. Says made in the USA military grade bio synthetic oil. Doesn't gum up. But as far as action idk. It doesn't make it worse. I don't have much experience with other lubricants tho. I would love to see you try it. I was looking to buy one of these "name brand" knife specific oils is why I came to this video. I would also like to see you test just polishing the internals with a metal polish. I use diamond metal polish you get it at Walmart in the car cleaning section. I almost believe that works the best for me. But again not much experience with this. I have also tried the 3in1. Seems a little thick. Good video 👍

Just ordered pro shot to see how it works out. Almost out of KPL & I have to say “it works well!” $14/ea for that vs $9 pro shot. If it works just as well, I’ll just save the extra $5.

What is the best oil to put on the blade itself, for cleaning & corrosion protection? I have had some strange issues with bead blasted blades & stone washed blade getting a "blotchy" look to them after oiling them. Even having small circular patterns that have a blueish tint them them. What would cause something like this to occur? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks 😎👍

Hi , Thanks for the review, I actually noticed that over a few weeks and taking the knife apart the KPL turns black , The Gunny glide stays clear , I’m gonna try the proshot but how does the proshot smell ? I have Nano oil also , to be honest I feel I get the smoothest action with the gunny glide , I tried it in many knives that needed a little help and the Gunny glide loosened them up the fastest it’s definitely my go to

REM oil works great. I do find that with gun oil you need to reapply it more often, but it works as good as any knife oil out there, but the knife oils seem to last longer.

I’ll be putting my money elsewhere, I don’t like how this “bigshots” companies try to squeeze money off of their clients like this stamping the made in USoA on their products when they’re NOT like that used to mean something, shame on you KPL !!!

Check out Strike Hold which I use on all of my firearms. You'll have to buy a small bottle with needle cap to put some in as it comes in 8oz bottles. If you have firearms and have previously cleaned your gun with Strike Hold then go have a range day it makes clean up and lube a breeze. I'm also trying some Super Lube. It also comes in a 4oz bottle and you'll need to transfer it into a different bottle also.. You can get it from Amazon and it does come in a pen applicator but it's a lot more expensive per ounce. 👍

Just an fyi... that middle bottle with the applicator needle tip... is just rebranded and relabeled Tuf glide. I have a TON of Tuf glide in the same EXACT bottle. Looked into it, and it is literally just rebranded " white-labeled" tuf-glide. The tuff glide in the skinny applicator bottle that you said gums up your blades.... that mixture they add a ton of oil to it because the dry Teflon particles were clogging up the applicator tip. So they add alot of extra oil to that particular packaged tuf-glide. Buy tuf-glide in the larger aluminum pump spray bottles, or the tuf-glide that is packaged in LITERALLY the same exact bottle with the red and black label that you had in the middle.
