Their story became a symbol of hope to all underrated groups in the industry that all of their hard work will surely payoff in time. ENHYPEN had a great year. Charted #1 on korean charts, became the first 4th gen boy group to win on musik bank, FEVER viral and broke spotify records, they broke SO many japanese records, they have the highest 1st day sales by a 4th gen group and also higest 1st week sales with over 800k by a 4th gen group. They became the fastest 1 million seller group (not even 1 year in to their career). They had their US tv debut etc. They achieved things in UNDER 1 year that almost no kpop groups did in their 1st year.

i think 2021 will be remembered for the shift from 3rd gen to 4th gen. So many 4th gen groups became incredibly popular. Dreamcatcher released Odd Eye in the beginning of the year and BEcause later in the year and it was amazing like always NCT Dream became a triple million seller with their repackaged album Hello Future Aespa got to appear on the Kelly Clarkson show to promote Savage and as well as NCT 127 to promote Favorite SM created another Avengers group called Girls On Top (GOT) consisting of BoA, Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, Seulgi, Wendy, Karina, and Winter. Brave Girls comeback was really a miracle as they were set to disband this year. Lets not forget too that 2021 was such a rollercoaster of emotions in KPOP with things that it's nearly impossible to go through ALL of it and not have a 2 plus hour video. I would say 2021 was full of ups and downs for me, two of my ults Gfriend and Izone disbanding, but at the same time feeling elation when my top picks of GP999 made it to the final lineup. This yr I also started stanning more boy grps, Skz and Ateez, as a GG stan, so it also made up for the sadness and an eye-opener for me I would say the rookie groups + Brave Girls slayed this yr, no doubt.

Weird that Seventeen wasn't mentioned for their contract renewal last July. That was such a huge milestone in Kpop having all the 13 MEMBERS including 2 Chinese members re-sign their contract A YEAR EARLY. Also, they releases great songs this year with Ready to Love and Rock with you.

I was surprised you didn't mention them, I mean hot sauce was the reason dundundun dance by oh my girl didn't have many wins despite being a hit in South korea. Sorry but I can't fathom a 2021 in kpop without a mention of Dream Catcher, even if in passing 😭 They had a massive year with two comebacks selling over 100k albums each, topped Billboard's Next Big Sound chart, became the only kpop group invited to primavera sound music festival, were in the top 10 best selling girl groups of the year, had their first variety show, released their second photobook, first season's greetings, had three concerts, unveiled their official lightstick+robe, went on weekly idol for the first time, were finally invited to countless shows, released a ton of content, are in a bunch of top kpop of 2021 lists etc etc. They did so much this year but aren't ever mentioned by anyone. Even just recently their 2020 song BOCA started trending on tiktok. They did not close out an iconic trilogy with Odd Eye and then pay homage to Jordan Peele's Us with BEcause to be paid dust by everyone 😭 I know people include groups they like in content but even official sales counters were leaving them out of lists which is insane. Same for Mamamoo.

As a fan of Dreamcatcher since 2018, I just can't believe how often Dreamcatcher gets ignored. They are underrated to the extreme! Considering their contracts are near ending, I was hoping they'd renew their contract after they'd finally get the attention they deserved considering their massive sales and high-quality merch and albums. I'm shocked and hurt that they continue to get ignored despite their achievements! 😭

2021 kpop had the BEST bsides , money by Lisa , gone by rosé, fever and attention please by enhypen , anti romantic by txt , lucid dream by aespa , scandal by twice, Every Bside off of all NCT album's this year and every track off of formula of love by twice . It was a scandalous year yes , but the music , the debuts and everything were on point , the soloists like chungha , sunmi , Jessi , CL, baekhyun , Kai , D.O , teamin and of course IU killed it and got more recognition. Even though I didn't get my blackpink comeback 🙂 , 2021 was a good year for K-pop

This year, i'm so proud of itzy!!! THEY SLAYED. I'm so proud of the success brave girls made, And twice! they worked very hard this year. Imagine how tired they are. And shoutout to Aespa, IVE, and Stayc, they're such hard working and talented individuals. Also Enhyphen who just debuted about a year ago has left kpop on it's side with their bops!! I'm personally not a NCT fan but i hold so much respect for them with the amount of effort they put in their tracks and they had so many comebacks this year omg! Fromis_9 had a phenomenal year with there first win with “talk and talk” as well as “We Go” being the song that stayed on the charts for the longest time for the group. And purple kiss and TRI.BE did amazing this year and have a lot of potential as rookie groups.
