“MAMAMOO” was the 1st kpop group in Killing Voice, and they’ve made it well-known now

Mamamoo MVs are sensory overload on first view but rest assured nothing is random or just for looks and anything that seems random or out of place is a clue to another layer of meaning. Egotistic is a good example because it follows such a clear format unlike Aya, which is one of their most complex and difficult to interpret MVs. That's a jaguar rather than a tiger in Egotistic, btw - a Latin American big cat to go with the Spanish diaspora influences in the music, set and costume design. Egotistic is title track #2 in Mamamoo's year long four album series called 4 Season 4 Color. Each album had a theme season and color and each title track explored a stage of love in a four part relationship cycle. As you could probably guess, Egotistic is the Summer/Red song and the emotional stage is Passion. In the MV each member expresses her own shade of Red personality traits and her own take on Passion via her wardrobe, actions and props in solo scenes before gathering together to burn his guitar in effigy and dance in the flames. So Hwasa stares down the jaguar and takes a bath in the jungle because her version of Red & Passion is Wild, Fierce and Uninhibited. I'll let you decide what Red & Passion mean to the other members. They use the same format in all four title track MVs of the 4S4C project but Egotistic is the clearest symbolically. Almost forgot you asked a question about Aya. The set & costume design of the MV and the seductive snake charmer flute melody is based on an Arabian Nights concept. Mamamoo was accused of cultural appropriation but imo their critics missed the point, which is that the toxic love affair they're trying to extricate themselves from has been an fantasy of romance that's just as fictional as the 1001 tales Scheherazade tells or the orientalist representations of it in Western art, dance and film ranging from the Ballets Russes to Disney. The set & costume design is as unreal and inauthentic as the love affair - a castle built on sand, a sexy romance novel they constructed out of their longing for love that has finally been revealed as a dangerous, seductive illusion. There's a lot more to the MV and the characters they play but I'll stop here. There are several excellent guides to Mamamoo and I think it pays to watch all of them. The most concise and most recent one is called Why Mamamoo is the Most Underrated Kpop Group. Don't be fooled by the intentionally clickbait title - it's actually a video essay about Mamamoo that does an excellent job of introducing the group and explaining what's special and different about them. The other two main guides are both in two parts. Purple Hawke's Introducing Mamamoo goes into a fair amount of depth about each member and is the gold standard but it's 4 years old. Moo YT's The Mamamoo Introduction Guide of 2022 updates Purple Hawke's guide in part one and gives a timeline of the group's discography in part two. Both two-part guides are highly entertaining, extremely well edited and very informative so don't be put off by the length. Have fun!

You will want to see the Aya/Dingga aggrabah version. Gong chan is a known musician and yes Piano man is a dirty song, works for mamamoo because they are older, not teen girls. 25 or so in this and your last video, 1llella, 3 of them are 32, so they can sing that kind of naughty song. And egotistic, wow. Though Solar actually learned pole dance as part of recovering from a back injury. And she did it live in concerts, even a cover of Despacito in spanish, and she is belting while handing on to a pole. They drop 25 songs a year, in fact in a couple of weeks Moonbyul is releasing another Solo album. Killing voice, immortal songs, you tube channels, 400+ videos all of it is this good. Reggaeton, Jazz, Big band, r&b, rock, even a couple songs with some US country flavor.

Kudgeond says 90% of what I wanted to say. I do really think you should watch a guide after the Killing Voice. I prefer the Purple Hawk but both of the other choices are excellent and really it's worth watching them all. Solar took up pole dancing to help recover from a back injury. She'd only had the first lesson before the Egotistic video. Her Espisito cover is my favorite of the vids of her using it during a live stage. Mamamoo is just a more adult group, if there is sexual subtext or text it's supposed to be there.

aya is one of my fav mamamoo songs because the break & the outro interpolated Brazilian funk 😎🇧🇷 u could say that the concept overall was “foreign” with the sets drawing inspiration from arab countries and warm locations. at the dance break they also do a african dance move if i remember correctly. it is the single for their 10th ep called ‘travel’.

A bad song ? With Mamamoo ? Nope... You need to watch the Killing voice. Killing voice exist because of Mamamoo (Solar wanted to be in Killing verse with Wheein (they have a fun running gag of being rappers named McDuk and McDak) but instead Dingo created Killing voice for them)

Bienvenu chez Mamamoo, si tu veux tout explorer, je te souhaite du courage et de la persévérance. Il te reste à voir la partie Ballade et la partie chansons déjanté. J'ai noté que tu étais enthousiaste aves les parties Rap de Moonbyul. Ces 4 artistes sont toutes exceptionnelles. Le Groupe Mamamoo à été mis en pause en juin 2023. Le groupe continue pour l'instant sous une forme réduite appelé Mamamou+ avec Solar er Monbyul. 2023/2024 est plus consacré au développement de chacune de leurs carrière solo. Cela permet encore mieux d'explorer chacune de leurs personnalités. Elles sont toutes débordantes d'activité. Solar mène en même temps des sorties solo, des participation à des comédies musicales, la fonction de juge dans des émissions TV, une grosse activité de KZbinr. Wheiin a sortit un full album qui est super varié. Et MoonByul va sortir le 20 février son full album avec un concept incroyable. Hwasa n'est pas en reste et annonce qu'elle va préparer un full album. Pour revenir sur Moonbyul qui avec le temps est celle qui m'impressionne le plus. Je te recommande de faire une réaction spéciale sur elle : Eclipse, Absence, G999, Lunatic, Shutdown, CITT. Think About. Elle a gagné haut la main fin 2022 un concours dont le thème était Rapper can Sing appelé Second World. Les styles qu'elles abordent sont assez éloigné du style Mamamoo. Je l'adore. Seriously you could skip Killing Voice. It is very good but it is like a sum up of their discography made for people with an attention span of maximum 15 seconds. Much better to do what you do and go through all their MV's + Immortal Songs Medley. Like some said in the comments. The queendom performances are fire. Both Mamamoo's and G Idles. Also check out Oh My Girls Destiny performance. It is probably the best representation of when a group manage to reach directly into the chest of a whole population and grab their hearts in a choke hold.
