Back then, this song gave hope for a more peaceful world. Unfortunately it didn´t last long. But that doesn´t take away from an endearing reaction to a great song.
@Logan-ed4pu Жыл бұрын
You really nailed the meaning on the head here. The band wrote this song after playing a music festival in Moscow, and being warmly received being a Western German band. The release of the song happened to drop right around when the Berlin Wall fell, and it became correlated with that event. It's a song about peace, hope, and reconciliation. It's a song we could all use right now. Thank you so much for listening to this one.

Call me skeptical, but I don't believe she got the meaning of this video that quick on a first watch, especially considering her self admitted lack of world's history knowledge. I believe she either watched this video before or read up on it prior to doing this reaction.

The Scorpions are such an iconic band and have so many amazing songs to explore. When this came out it must have been on the radio about 10 times a day, every day. The same with MTV, when they played music, you couldn't switch over to it without seeing this or a Whitesnake video every damn time, Lol.

I was 12 years old when the Berlin Wall fell and when the USSR fell. This song was written for my generation because we were the children of tomorrow in 1989 when this song was written. My parent's generation failed to build upon the new world. My generation failed your generation by not learning from their mistakes. I listen to this song, and think about my children's and your generation and pray for the peace in your future that we, your elders have squandered.

The Berlin Wall was constructed in 1961 hence the reference in the beginning of the song. Some of the best ballads in history have been written by hard rock bands. People ask me what I mean by that and this is one of the first songs I point them to. If you were alive at the time it is impossible not to get emotional when hearing this. It captured the feeling of the entire world. This is a song of peace ... the end of the cold war ... the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Chill, girlfriend. This was a slow, chill, slow song that ya slow dance to. It's not supposed to hype you up. Your too funny. You gotta learn to relax. Take it easy. I was there for this little number upon it's release. These artists were from Germany and this was a commemoration of their country reuniting after being separated into East and West Germany for 45 years. It was also the end of an epic 1980's decade and the end of the U.S.S.R. as we had known her with it's Eastern block countries facing Nato since WWII.. The "Iron Curtain" came down effectively ending the "Cold War" I was there for it all. It really was a very special moment in time. Big shoutout from this old, longhaired, hippy dude in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. U.S.A. Wishing you and yours, this upcoming Holiday Season ,Much Peace, Love, and Happiness. I hit the Sub button, Black Bell, and a Like for ya. And here's my little comment. I like your style and that beautiful smile. Best wishes for continued success with this channel. You have what it takes to do well. Good luck moving forward. See you on the next. Go with God. Later.

A very important song for a very important time full of monumental political shifts in the world. This should have been a wakeup call for humanity but unfortunately some of humanity's leaders never learn the painful lessons of the past and here the world is once again at a crossroads with war and the threat of war looming in so many places. The area that you live in Rana exemplifies this. Politics and Religion should teach us all to love one another. They should practice what they preach. It is a nice sentiment to say and to believe that we can all get along. I pray that this can come true one day.

Peace is a nice thought in theory but it’s not possible in practice. Its just not, humans have been tribal since forever and the clash of deeply rooted cultures and the addition of evil minded people are a reality and something we will never fix. Not in anyone livings lifetime at the very least. Its best to focus on things we can actually impact like protecting life, especially innocent life ie babies and animals and then as many good people but changing human dynamics completely, on a global scale in particular, isn’t a possibility.

Key references in the lyrics: (1) "Moskva" is the Russian name for both Moscow and a river that runs through Moscow. The city is named for the river. (2) "Gorky Park" is a major park along the Moskva River in Moscow. (3) "Balalaika" is a Russian guitar-like instrument with a triangular body.

Although it tells the story of the end of communism in Europe(The Scorpions was the first foreign band to perform in Russia when they opened their boarders), it also refers to the conflicts all around the world, that were taking place around the same period, 80s to very early 90s. I believe this song has been the unofficial theme of countries seeking peace at that time. We are one of the countries that always had conflicts. Middle aged men in my country still play this song today.

The Scorpions are Awesome, this song was an unofficial anthem for Eastern Europe when the Berlin Wall fell and the Soviet Empire collapsed. We all felt optimistic about man's future, then the 21st century happened. Do try their song and album called Lovedrive and see what the highest level of hard rock sounds like. Michael Schenker of UFO/MSG fame is on scorching lead guitar. That album is dope with all killer and no filler. Their is a reason some of their songs have 100s of millions of views, they are that good. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
