Search for the tutorials he mentioned this vid where they show 1/2 face made up and 1/2 not. Google "celebrities without makeup". And compare historical standards of beauty across cultures (before surgery was an option) to get an idea of true natural beauty standards. It'll help to remind you that you're not ugly but normal and probably even cute, but you're just used to performance-level makeup being shoved in our faces as a "daily look". You can retrain your eye for an appreciation of real faces. After I started doing this, I began to see heavily madeup faces as pretty but too starkly artificial for me to fully appreciate anymore. I don't fully accept perfectly madeup faces as my own standard for comparison and envy anymore. I literally used to cry because I was convinced I was so ugly - but as my eyes are retrained my self esteem goes up and I mostly hover between thinking I'm a little plain but ok, and thinking hey I'm even a little cute. That's a big change for me.

Professional angles versus selfie/amateur angles are a huge part of this too. In the professional shots you can tell these women know how to find the light and emphasize their features, work with the photographer ... Whereas the selfies in particular you can tell are taken for fun and the amateur shots look like what they are.

I hope more guys (or people in general) are like you, honestly. Like you don't gross out over make up, you don't do make-up shaming or making fun out of it, but you're not fooled with them either and still able to see through it and appreciate the final product and what goes in between. Even to the length of properly appreciating the no-make up faces so on-point. Make up IS art; but many people merely see the 'deceiving' and 'pressuring' part of it (enforcing their OWN negative thoughts of it), and also forgetting that just like there are many perspectives to things, there are many version of how someone could look too. I'm so sad when people say such negative things about make up and people who wear it (that are really subjective actually and forgetting so many other perspectives), but it's not right either to think make up is that essential in how you are as a person, so your take on it is really ideal to me.
