i really recommend bbygang's "you're wrong about kpop a video essay" too as it gets rids of a lot of stereotypes surrounding kpop. it isn't a genre of pop music but rather an industry ( i really like yoongi's definition of integrated content). also idk if you knew but seo taiji invited bts to perform with him and basically handed them the torch! it was really iconic. and they also performed classroom idea by seo taiji and boys, and covered their song come back home (which if you haven't heard YOU MUST it's so good; there's a live performance too). another fun fact is I.U basicially considered the nation's sweetheart lol, collabed with yoongi for a song called "eight" and that's the one where he won the award and the rest of the members were acting like his bodyguards lol. jungkook also said I.U. was his ideal type hahaha. if you guys have any questions always feel free to ask!!

the most fascinating thing about IU is that she wasn't popular at first as she came from a small company like bts but her song 'good day' blew up and her prime hasn't decreased in 13 years like even BTS used to avoid clashing comebacks with her back in 2017-2018 (and before that ofc) because NO group or artist except 2nd gen can top her songs on the charts when they are released. all her songs, even bsides end up on 1st or like under top 10 on charts as soon as the album gets released

H.O.T. was the first idol band in K-POP history. They were the foundation of all fandom culture, such as like the official fan color, fan name, fan goods, fanfic and fan chant, etc. Also, because of their huge amount of fans, H.O.T. was the first local singer that had a concert in Seoul Olympic Main Stadium. The only group that made subways extend the running time for their concert dates. Since the fans were too crazy about them, students always skip the classes to line up for the show or events, caused Korea ban leaving early at all schools.😆 This unforgettable group was disbanded in 2001 and reunited in 2018. At the same year they had a concert in the same place(Olympic Stadium) for two days, 100k audiences joined in total. What a legendary band!
@pamelatan76062 жыл бұрын
actually H.O.T was one of the first kpop idol group that speaks about violence, social issues and etc... I remember listening to "Hope" during my exam days. Sadly there's wasn't much "intetnet exposure" back in the 90s so their popularity kind of stick within Korea and neighbouring countries (china japan etc). It wasn't easy to be an idol back in those days as korea is still very conservative. Broadcasting companies was so strict on rules that dyed hair are not allowed, they have to either use black hair spray or cover it with Bandana when performing live but H.O.T still managed to stay at the top until their disbandment.
