It could be kribensis are from Africa and they’re a cichlid but if you’re talking about mbunas haps and peacocks then that’s a different story I hate it when people think African cichlids cannot be put with any fish there are some more peaceful ones out there.

Only Cichlids I know that are pretty passive are Apistogrammas, but African Cichlids can be in a predator community tank, just has to be around 150 gallons or more so they can establish their semi-territories

I was told at a petstore that my golden dojo loaches would do great in a warm betta tank, with no other loaches, in a 10 gallon. A few weeks later I learned I needed to make an investment and get a big cold water tank and get him 5 friends. First and only impulse buy and not doing research ahead of time.

Paige Hudgins I made the same mistake when I got 3 Buenos Aires Tetras, they were chasing each other around and stressing the other fish and ended up killing one of my Black Neon Tetras from a hard hit while they were chasing each other. I took them to a privately owned fish store and gave them to the store, I replaced them with a Dwarf Gourami and had no problems since. I usually do 3-5 days of research before buying new fish to see how they act, what parameters they need, and temperament towards other fish.

The Fisherman yeah, I’m currently looking for a commonly sold top dwelling cold water fish that’d do great with golden dojo loaches, bristlenose plecos, and snails in a 60 gallon, that won’t jump and isn’t a goldfish. Oh and I have a school of striped danios in there too. I’m fine with even just 1 top dwelling fish. But apparently what I’m looking for doesn’t exist lol

This is for the people in Vancouver: there's tons of Elodia growing in "trout lake" you can just swim out a couple meters and pull them out. There's another plant lake but in Squamish, but it's right on the edge, To get plants there you gotta kayak or paddle board to the lilies and pull the plants, out. I'm pretty sure there's pearl weed growing but there's one of other plants. It would be awesome to see a native tank :)

A few months ago I commented that I was learning how I would create my betta tank by watching Chris’ videos. Today I could finally afford (I’m a student) to plant and decorate my tank! I chose java moss and two bunches of star grass (which have already started to grow!!) and I’m waiting a week for the tank to cycle before I go back to get my betta. One of my friends just got a betta and put it into one of those “”aesthetic”” (torture) fish bowls. I want to tell her no but then everyone will think I’m overreacting again... I already had a small argument when one of my friends got a hamster and put it in a stupid critter trail and I don’t think they’ll like me defending the poor betta. As a proud owner of two blood parrot cichlids, they are not colored properly and are clearly stressed! They produce more waste than a goldfish from my experience and are pretty territorial even if they can't do any damage! They can die in just a few hours in something that small if they don't have an air tube!

I have three small guys in a 20gal long tank with multiple heaters, heat lamp, climbing walls, cholla wood a tons of other stuff not to mention they need like 6+ empty shells each and super high humidity !!! Hello, i'm cycling a tank right now and i went to my lfs and the tank read 0.25ppm of ammonia, and then i went home and tested my water and the API Master Kit read 8 ppm of ammonia!!!!!! Its been doing this for a while now !!! What's wrong?

Thought this would be a good place to ask... What kind of tips would y'all give to someone who is going to start their first "planted" tank? (I put planted in quotations because I don't plan on covering my entire tank in plants)

TIL Vanilla Ice is an ice cream pokemon LMAO! The best I got in my childhood was pokemon show and movies on VHS lol. I never got a gameboy so I never got to play the games until I got my first full paycheck when it so happens that 5th gen released (Vanillite and Chandelure). I'm pretty lost with 7th and 8th gen though.

Hey Chris....CHRISSSS!!! I HAVE A FISH PROBLEM!! HAAAALLLP! So a couple weeks ago, our ac broke and it was too hot for him (his tank is usually 77*) and his fins like....slit in half and chunks were falling off. I gave him betta fix and the damage stopped, but no improvement, I went on vacation for two days (just got back) and Friendly's (my betta....he a good boi) Fin's have gotten worse, He has a white spot on his, uh bellow his eye (his belly?) and is acting reaaaalllly weird. He is swimming very oddly. He will either sit still and sink to the bottom of the tank, which is where he usually is now and then dart rapidly somewhere else. Also the majority of the time he's smashing himself into gravel and walls of the tank and the decorations (nothing sharp really). And this is the weirdest thing, when i went to feed him, I had to wait 5 minutes for him to come out of the cave (he usually can't wait half a second to eat), and when he did, he started trying to eat the filter and trying to eat the own bubbles he created. Unless i put the food on top of his nose (mouth?) he wont eat it. He will eat the water right next to it. My water parameters are perfect and I don't know whats wrong. So once again. PLEASE HELP ME AND FRIENDLY!! oh and your'e awesome.

I'm starting a 20 gallon long planted fish tank next week. Do you have any stocking ideas? (More than likely I'll get some corydoras but I want another schooling fish for the top layer.)

I recently added a mystery snail to my tank (which I’m still trying to figure out the gender of) with my 5 male guppies, 4 assassin snails (2 babies), and 3 otos :) it’s so cool watching all of them move around differently
