New to this channel and greatly appreciate your content (subbed of course), as I'm in the process of setting up a tank so I can "adopt" the family clown loach. He (she?) is named Neville, we got him in 2009 when a friend of a friend was moving and giving away their large-ish tank. When my own relative moved a few years ago, the large tank and the school of guppies in it were given away because there was no space for it in the new place, but Neville's a special one so he was kept and rehomed to a smaller tank that fits on the kitchen counter. Cut to now, relative is essentially just "waiting for the fish to die" because they aren't keen on fishkeeping. I know clown loaches want a BIG tank and a school of friends, which I'm sadly unable to provide in my current living situation, but hopefully a larger tank and more frequent water changes will make Neville happy for whatever time he has left. We've had him 11 years and he was likely several years old already when we got him. Learning a lot from these videos while I prepare his set-up! Making an attempt with live plants, we'll see how that goes. My other pet is my cat Signe ("Sing-neh"), more often called "baby", "little baby", "baby rat", or "big-eyes" (all in my own language, but translated here).

We adopted a clown loach from a friend who wasn't able to keep him/her. Right now it is in our 65 gallon Blood parrot tank but will be moving to a 120 this fall. He has adapted to his tank mates and unless some thing goes sideways he will be a forever tank mate to the bp's.

Hi fish community! After months of research of anticipation I finally got myself a Betta fish and 4 neon tetras! (After nitrogen cycling the tank for weeks) his name is tofu and he is a blue and red crowntail betta and the 4 tetras are called, Michael, Dwight, Pam and Jim. They make me so happy and taking care of them after school is the highlight of my day. The tank is only 20L (5 gallons) but I hope to upgrade it in size in the future, I already own 6 frogs and am very excited to join the fish community!!! 🐟🐟

2 things. First, yes you should upgrade. Bettas live well in a 5 gallon but neon tetras should be in at least 10 gallon with 15 being better, and get two more to make the school complete. Second, I love the names! The other two neons could be Kevin and Kelly lol

General tip: if your house allows it, get a long tank instead of a tall one. It probably won't benefit the betta as much as the tetras though. Most fish can and will use the horizontal swimming space.

I've got 3 cats named Nagisa, Paprika and Rhaegar. Nagisa is mostly called nagi, or nugget.. Paprika is never used - she's called pawpaw. Rhaegar is rayray or little prince or handsome boi. I also have a tank with blue shrimps, a few pygmy corys and a single lonesome maculata rasbora (i bought more, but they all died except this one). The rasbora is called Chilli.. my corys are collectively called 'the littles' and the shrimps.. well, I've got a few specific names for individuals (like big mama and the dark one) but the rest are just called shrimpies..

Honestly the only guy I've seen keep a kinkajou is Blake of blakesexoticanimalranch and honestly he does do it right, he keeps it in a tall cage, looks to be bout the size and area of a garden shed, he's got tons of branches and logs in there for the kinkajou to climb on plus hides. The guy who keeps it in this video likely keeps it more in his house as a house pet and not in an enclosure that allows the animal to behave as it would in its natural habitat

I only know Kinkajous as Zooanimals. The biggest problem with them is, that they are nocturnal, So they mostly sleep when you are normally awake and should not be disturbed. They need daily fresh fruits. And they stink and are really dirty... Kinkajous are small bears, the only one that has a tail for grabbing.

@@feuerfuchs09 well they're not actually bears, they're called honey bears because of their love of honey, they are immune to bee stings if I recall correctly. Also yea they are primarily nocturnal, the care I've seen given to Blake's kinkajou is that the cage is mostly covered in cloth except for the front entrance and Blake only really interacts with the animal during the evening.

Love these videos! Also, about Kinkajous: they are climbing mammals in the Raccoon family from Central/South America, and they have a very long tongue to lick up nectar. They do not have any gliding flaps of skin, and they make ATROCIOUS pets. Only zoos and dedicated wildlife caretakers should have them.

I've got a school of Clown Killifish going in my first real tank (planted + species only baring some snails and shrimp) in the hobby. Not all of them are named, but at a certain point i had to identify which fish I wanted to keep and which ones i wanted to try trading in for more females. So, I made a list! Thus far, we have had; Fat Boi - who hogged /all/ of the food day #1. almost eating himself into medical issues. Chad - the little lady charmer who never stopped dancing. George - the skittish little shy boi my mother wanted to name. Hercules - a tiny warrior who challenged everyone in the tank despite being only two centimeters long and missing over half of his tail (I assume it was a wound received via harassing tank mates at the store). Thankfully, his tail grew back within a few days of recieving him! Lady - the only female the first try at buying all females. She's also Fat Boi's tiny little girlfriend- since he learned how to be a charmer like Chad at some point.

My dachshund mix went through many stages where he is just now refered to ad Ween. He was Weiner before that, and i don't even know how many nicknames he had leading up to those. His real name is Tater Tot (he came with the name and was a foster failure because no one adopted him for 8 months and it would be strange to change his name after that long). He gets called Tot, and Tate a lot. But, mostly Ween!, and you have to say it very emphatically.

A bit of back ground story: Around July this year me and my boyfriend were having a quick chat outside before he went off to his graveyard shift at the gas station we work for. As he was turning to leave he looks down around the gutter, and in a puddle ( it had rained earlier in the night) was a fucking crawl fish. We don't live that close to any rivers or creeks, beyond some man made drain systems. But yet standing in front of us, hissing and rattling was a crawl fish about 5 to 6 inches long. At the time I was prepping a 10 gallon for a future Betta fish me and my bf were gonna go half on when we found a good breeder for what we wanted. Instead I ended up with a crawl fish, some shrimp and some snails and all he does is sit behind a lump of wood I gave him and glare at me from behind it. He growls and hisses when we feed him. His name? Crawl daddy. What we call him: leggy boi, dumb leg man, hissy station, daddy legs, that thing, and my boyfriend likes to lovingly call him, "sea spider"

I agree with u on the glow fish thing, there are people who buy them because they like how they look, and know how to maintain proper husbandry, but there are also people who have no idea what they’re doing, but proceed to buy fish before learning… for example, I had a friend who had a 5 gallon fish tank with like 6 glow fish in it, never cleaned it, and fed it 5 times a day 😅 breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and dinner…

I kept a saltwater vase, it was around a quart. It looked way cooler. They need more red/different type of macros, there are some absolutely incredible macro algaes out there. You could definitely do some absolutely incredible saltwater aquascapes with just macro algae but it's hard to resist the allure of the absolutely incredible coral that are out there. Some mini-feather dusters, some aptasia (an anemone that is the bane of all reef keepers but looks pretty cool if you're not a hardcore reefer) and maybe even some bristle worms/mini-stars or one of the thousands of other hitchhikers that reef keepers regularly seek to eradicate would also make the jar more interesting. I also don't think it would be bad to add a small snail. Honestly, you could probably even grow star polyps or other soft coral without any extra work (assuming monthly/bi-monthly water changes).

Also thanks for the tip on Betta's with shrimp. Despite the fact that I've been talking about fish for years, my mom bought a betta and gave it to my cousin in a spongebob tank for her birthday 2 years ago without talking to me. My cousin got stressed out by the fish who my brother's named "Blue sushi". I eventually ended up with Blue Sushi. He was my quarantine buddy and I can't describe how grateful I am for him. I did upgrade his tank within in a week of getting him but I wasn't prepared to get a big tank due to health and housing reasons. I bought the 16 gallon fluval spec three months ago but had to move before I could set it up. I finally set it up last week and can't wait to introduce him to his new home. I mostly call him "Sushi".

I used to have a saltwater vase. I filled it with macro-algaes, liverock and some saltwater pests (coral and whatnot that are considered nuisances). To light it, I just used an old desk lamp (think Pixar's mascot) and ordered an LED growing bulb off of amazon for less then $10.

I have to admit that, when I was a Kid, I got a Biorb for my 6th birthday, as well as 2 goldfish to go in it. They lasted 5 years, which I think is a personal low to be honest. I then left it after they died, before getting to my 12th birthday, reawakening my love of fish. I they got 2 more goldfish for it, before breaking the tank whilst doing a full waterchange. I then got a new tank an hour after breaking it that was too big for them to be in by themselves, so I got 2 more. And those 4 goldfish are still alive now, 10 years later

The meme about the betta not eating is my life right now. When I got my female, she was white, but within an hour of her being in the tank I meticulously scaped and planted (it still has zero algae after three weeks of being set up) she turned blue and pink and purple. She’s a real beauty! But I still haven’t seen her eat a single morsel. There are ramshorn snails in there that are breeding like mad and I’m pretty sure that’s what she’s eating. So I think I literally made a self-sustaining ecosystem by accident.

So my dogs' names are Lucy and Tater-tot. Millie the bearded collie’s name is Millward (which we never call her) we call her Mill-a-moo, poopy, puppa, beardie, pup 2, nubblet or nubs (she was hit by a car and had a leg amputated). I also thought that glowfish are not very attractive.. Until I ran into glo zebrafish. I bought 10 yellow ones 😁. In the shop they had glo tetras too but i felt that even my 30 gal would be small for them. I dont know, the adult ones just looked too big for my tank 🤷‍♀️

I got my 10 gallon finally set up, it's in the cycling process but I need to some capet and background plants, also figure out my why my filter quiteflow motor is buzzing and check my parameters yesterday everything is almost in order. Looking to put a single betta in or add some oto catfish with them or some harlequin

If it's a standard hang on back filter, the buzzing may be because the impeller tube isn't properly seated. Some of them just kind of slide into place, others you have to push down into place until they click into the slot. One time I actually called the company to ask about the issue, because I was scared of breaking the filter or the side of my tank with how hard I was having to press down!
